To be released by Seattle
The Seahawks will release Dickson, Liz Matthews of USA Today reports.
Analysis: The team is also reportedly letting safety Tedric Thompson go, with the pair of moves combining to save Seattle $5.3 million in salary cap space. A knee injury derailed Dickson's 2019 season, but if he can prove that he's moved past the issue, the 32-year-old could catch on with another team looking to add tight end depth.

Could be cap casualty
Dickson (knee) could be cut after the Seahawks signed Greg Olsen on Tuesday, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
Analysis: The Seahawks now have Olsen and Will Dissly (Achilles) under contract for 2020, and Jacob Hollister, who will be a restricted free agent in March, is also likely in the team's plans for next season. Dickson spent 2019 on injured reserve and only played 10 games in 2018, posting 12 catches for 143 yards and three scores that year. The Seahawks would save $3 million against the salary cap by cutting Dickson.

Returns to injured reserve
The Seahawks placed Dickson (knee) on injured reserve Friday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Dickson's time in Seattle has been monopolized by stays on IR, as he's making his third visit in a Seahawks uniform in two seasons. In 2019, he landed on the list after undergoing knee surgery in early August but made enough progress in practice the past few weeks to be activated to the 53-man roster Wednesday. Unfortunately for Dickson, he seems to have suffered a setback and didn't practice Thursday, forcing him back to injured reserve. As a corresponding move, the team promoted Tyrone…read more

Likely going back to IR
The Seahawks are expected to move Dickson (knee) back to injured reserve, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: After undergoing knee surgery in early August, Dickson embarked on a lengthy recovery that included spending most of the season on IR. Upon the Seahawks activating Dickson on Wednesday, coach Pete Carroll expected the veteran tight end to retain a role in the offense, but apparently he spoke to soon. Per Fowler, Seattle remains concerned about Dickson's health, but an official move has yet to occur. Assuming Dickson goes back to injured reserve, the TE room will be down to Jacob Hollister and…read more

Doesn't practice Thursday
Dickson (knee) was held out of practice Thursday, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Analysis: Activated from IR on Wednesday, Dickson was expected to be a part of the game plan for Sunday's game at Philadelphia, per Liz Mathews of USA Today. "He's going to play a regular load if the week works out fine," coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday. "He should be ready to go." Clearly, something didn't "work out fine" with Dickson's knee, unless the Seahawks are exercising caution with the veteran tight end. Carroll won't speak to the media again until Friday, at which point he may add some…read more

Expected to factor into game plan
Dickson (knee), who was activated from injured reserve Wednesday, is expected to figure into the Seahawks' game plan this weekend versus the Eagles, Liz Mathews of USA Today reports. "He's going to play a regular load if the week works out fine," Carroll said. "He should be ready to go. Weight's in a good spot. He looks like he's in good shape. He won't play the whole game because we'll be moving guys in and out. We expect him to play a regular role."
Analysis: Carroll didn't offer many particulars regarding what exactly a "regular load" looks like for Dickson, but if the tight end's usage last season is any indication, he'll be in store for double-digit snaps and a couple targets in the passing game. The bigger question is how significantly Dickson will cut into the workload of Jacob Hollister, who has emerged as a key piece in the Seattle offense in recent weeks. Hollister, who is coming off a career-best performance in the Nov. 11 win over the…read more

Back to full health
The Seahawks activated Dickson (knee) from injured reserve Wednesday, John Boyle of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Dickson has completed his recovery from knee surgery undertaken in early August, which necessitated a stay on IR. It's unclear if he'll start immediately, but with Luke Willson's (hamstring) health in question, Dickson only has to contend with Jacob Hollister for tight end reps at the moment. Dickson's first chance to suit up this season arrives Sunday at Philadelphia.

Remains on track for Week 12
Coach Pete Carroll said Dickson (knee) should be activated from IR before Sunday's game against the Eagles, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports.
Analysis: Dickson was ready to play before Seattle's bye, but the team opted to provide the veteran tight end additional rest. The opportunity for Dickson is even better now, though, as Luke Willson suffered a hamstring injury during Week 10's win over the 49ers and isn't expected to play Sunday. Thus, Dickson should fill into the No. 2 role behind Jacob Hollister -- who is the undisputed No. 1 tight end. Dickson shouldn't have any major limitations as he returns to action considering he's been…read more

Will return following bye
Dickson (knee) will be activated from IR before Week 12's game against the Eagles, Curtis Crabtree of Sports Radio 950 KJR Seattle reports.
Analysis: Coach Pete Carroll said the Seahawks almost activated Dickson for this past Sunday's win over the 49ers, but they chose to hold off another week. He'll now get additional recovery time over the team's upcoming bye and return Nov. 24. Dickson could immediately have a role in the offense behind Jacob Hollister, as Luke Willson (hamstring) looks like he may be facing a long-term absence.

Not yet activated
Dickson (knee) was not activated from injured reserve Saturday, Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
Analysis: Despite reports indicating Dickson was ready to play, the Seahawks have yet to actually activate their veteran tight end, saving the potential roster move until Sunday. Dickson is unlikely to jump ahead of Luke Willson (ribs) or Jacob Hollister on the depth chart were he to return, particularly after a two-touchdown outing from Hollister last week.

Expected to return this week
Coach Pete Carroll said Dickson (knee) is ready to play in Monday's game against the 49ers, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Analysis: Dickson returned to practice last Wednesday but wasn't removed from injured reserve before Sunday's 40-34 win over Tampa Bay. It sounds like he'll come off IR this week, though he won't necessarily have a significant role in the Seattle offense. Luke Willson's progress recovering from a rib injury will also be a factor.

Not being activated for Week 9
Dickson (knee) was not activated off injured reserve ahead of Saturday's deadline and is not eligible to play Sunday against Tampa Bay, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Dickson made his official return to practice Wednesday but was not activated to the 53-man roster ahead of Saturday's 4 PM ET deadline to do so. Seattle will instead roll with a combination of Luke Willson and Jacob Hollister at tight end for another game.
