Won't play in Week 16
Brooks (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's contest against the Buccaneers, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports reports.
Analysis: Brooks showed up on the Cowboys' Week 16 practice report Thursday as limited due to a knee injury and didn't handle any reps Friday before the team made a decision on his status ahead of the weekend. With Brooks out of the lineup Sunday, Jalen Tolbert, KaVontae Turpin, Jonathan Mingo and Ryan Flournoy will be the tertiary wide receivers behind starters CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks.

Pops up on Thursday's injury report
Brooks (knee) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Wilson wasn't listed on Wednesday's injury report, so it appears his knee injury is a new one. It's not clear how severe the injury is, but Friday's practice report will give a better idea of his status heading into Sunday's game against Tampa Bay. The 2023 seventh-round pick caught the first touchdown pass of his NFL career this past Sunday against the Panthers.

Catches first career TD
Brooks caught his only target for a 17-yard touchdown in Sunday's win over the Panthers.
Analysis: The second-year wideout hauled in his first career TD in the third quarter, beating two defenders to the ball in the back corner of the end zone as Cooper Rush scrambled out of the pocket. Brooks has seen little usage this season and has even been a healthy inactive at times, and he's unlikely to break out with CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks and Jalen Tolbert all healthy. Brooks will be little more than a desperation dart throw Week 16, even against a shaky Buccaneers secondary.

Healthy scratch for Week 14
Brooks (coach's decision) is inactive for Monday's game against Cincinnati, Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Analysis: Brooks logged under 30 percent of Dallas' offensive snaps each of the past two weeks after notching over half of the team's offensive snaps in each of the four prior games that he suited up for. His inactive status for Monday can be tied to the Week 13 return of Brandin Cooks from a lengthy injury absence as well as the Cowboys' acquisition of Jonathan Mingo in early November. Brooks hasn't been producing of late when he has taken the field, tallying just three catches on eight targets for over…read more

One big catch Sunday
Brooks caught one of three targets for 41 yards in Sunday's win over the Commanders.
Analysis: After being dropped from the game-day lineup Week 11, the second-year wideout suited up again Sunday but played only 17 offensive snaps, his lowest total since Week 4. Brooks did make an impact, though, as his long reception just before halftime set up a 46-yard field goal for Brandon Aubrey. Brooks has seen his target volume increase since Cooper Rush replaced Dak Prescott (hamstring) as the Cowboys' starting QB, but he hasn't done much with it. Over his last three appearances, Brooks has…read more

Not suiting up for MNF
Brooks (coach's decision) is inactive for Monday's Week 11 tilt versus the Texans, Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Analysis: Brooks has been inefficient as a pass catcher this season, hauling in just eight of 24 targets. He logged over half of the Cowboys' offensive snaps in each of the team's past four games but won't take the field Monday. Brooks' inactive status coincides with the team debut of Jonathan Mingo, who was acquired in a trade with Carolina on Nov. 5.

Catches one pass in loss
Brooks caught one of four targets for four yards in Sunday's 34-6 loss to the Eagles.
Analysis: Brooks was held in check Sunday, catching only one pass for the sixth time this season. The second-year wideout has recorded multiple receptions just once this season, when he caught two passes for 26 yards in Week 9. Through nine games, Brooks has totaled just eight grabs for 107 scoreless yards. The 24-year-old should remain an unreliable option for fantasy purposes, especially with the Cowboys turning to Cooper Rush at quarterback with Dak Prescott (hamstring) undergoing season-ending…read more

Season-high two catches Sunday
Brooks caught two of five targets for 26 yards in Sunday's loss to the Falcons.
Analysis: The second-year wideout saw five-plus targets for the second time in the last three games but once again failed to do much with the increased volume, although his two catches were a season high. Brooks remains an afterthought in the Cowboys offense, but he could be pushed into a bigger role Week 10 against the Eagles if CeeDee Lamb (shoulder) ends up missing time.

Targeted six times
Brooks caught one of six targets for 15 yards in Sunday's 47-9 loss to the Lions.
Analysis: Brooks saw a significant bump in his usage Sunday, playing 49 of the Cowboys' 69 offensive snaps. The second-year receiver's 71 percent snap share and six targets were both season highs, though it bears mentioning that a significant amount of his playing time came while the Cowboys were facing a big deficit in the second half. Even with fellow wideout Brandin Cooks (knee) on injured reserve, Brooks will likely struggle to see consistent volume in the passing game in more competitive contests.

Just one catch in Week 5
Brooks caught his only target for 10 yards in Sunday's win over the Steelers.
Analysis: Even with Brandin Cooks (knee) on IR, there wasn't much of a role for Brooks in the Cowboys offense, as KaVontae Turpin moved into the No. 3 wideout role instead. Brooks has yet to catch more than one pass in a game this season, giving him very little fantasy appeal heading into a Week 6 clash with the Lions.

Active in Week 3
Brooks (ankle) is active for Sunday's Week 3 game against the Ravens.
Analysis: The reserve wideout was limited in the last two practices of the week, but Brooks will be available to Dak Prescott as the No. 4 receiver behind the top trio of CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks and Jalen Tolbert. Brooks has played an unsurprisingly minor role thus far over the first two games, recording a 2-28 line on four targets.

Questionable versus Baltimore
Brooks (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Ravens, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Brooks was added to the injury report Thursday, getting in limited practice reps Thursday and Friday. His mid-week addition is an ominous sign for his Week 3 availability, but it sounds like Brooks' status will come down to Sunday morning. Brooks has two catches for 28 yards on four targets through two games and has played an increased role as the Cowboys' WR4 early this season.

Pops up on injury report
Brooks (ankle) was limited in Thursday's practice, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Brooks wasn't listed on the Cowboys' injury report Wednesday, but it appears the 2023 seventh-round pick is nursing an ankle injury. His practice participation Friday will provide clarity on his status for Sunday's game against the Ravens. Brooks has caught two passes (on four targets) for 28 yards across the first two games of the regular season.

One grab against New Orleans
Brooks caught one of three targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 44-19 loss to the Saints.
Analysis: The second-year wideout has caught exactly one pass in each of the Cowboys' first two games this season. While he's holding down a steady role in the offense, Brooks isn't likely to see significant volume as long as CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks and Jalen Tolbert are all healthy.

Leading receiver in preseason loss
Brooks caught both his targets for 49 yards in Sunday's 13-12 preseason loss to the Rams.
Analysis: With CeeDee Lamb still holding out and Brandin Cooks and Jalen Tolbert both sitting this one out along with most of the Cowboys' other offensive starters, Brooks got the start at wideout and caught a 43-yard strike from Cooper Rush on the team's opening drive. The second-year wideout then hooked up with Trey Lance for a short completion on Dallas' second possession before Brooks called it a day. The South Carolina product appears to have a fairly firm hold on the No. 4 spot on the depth chart,…read more

Could push for No. 3 role
Brooks looked good during spring practices and may get a chance to compete for the No. 3 receiver role in Dallas, ESPN.com's Todd Archer reports.
Analysis: Jalen Tolbert is the favorite for the role, having essentially split it with Michael Gallup (now on the Raiders) last season. Brooks, meanwhile, played 77 snaps on offense and 82 on special teams in seven games as a rookie seventh-round pick, with four of his six catches coming in a 49-17 win over the Giants in Week 10. He was often a healthy scratch last season but now has an opportunity to move up to third or fourth on the depth chart behind entrenched starters CeeDee Lamb and Brandin Cooks.

Little usage as rookie
Brooks caught all six of his targets for 64 yards over seven regular-season games in 2023.
Analysis: The seventh-round pick out of South Carolina was never active for more than three games in a row during his rookie season, and most of his production came in Week 10, when he saw extra run in garbage time against the Giants. The Cowboys figure to return most of their key offensive personnel in 2024, but if Michael Gallup or Brandin Cooks becomes cap casualties in the offseason, Brooks could move into a bigger role.

Won't play versus Miami
Brooks (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Brooks once again is a healthy scratch for Week 16 and hasn't seen the field since Week 12 against the Commanders. He has split his time between offense and special teams and has accumulated five catches for 63 yards in five games this season.

Won't play Sunday
Brooks (coach's decision) is inactive Sunday against the Eagles.
Analysis: Brooks will sit out for the second straight game as he sits as the sixth wide receiver on the depth chart. The 2023 seventh-round pick out of South Carolina last played in Week 12 against the Commanders when he hauled in his lone target for 24 yards.

Inactive Thursday
Brooks (coach's decision) is inactive for Thursday night's game against the Seahawks.
Analysis: Brooks is listed as Dallas' fifth wide receiver behind CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks, Michael Gallup and Jalen Tolbert. The rookie has five catches for 63 yards and no touchdowns on 64 offensive snaps this season.

Hauls in first receptions of season
Brooks caught all four of his targets for 39 yards in Sunday's 49-17 rout of the Giants.
Analysis: With KaVontae Turpin (shoulder) sidelined and the Cowboys in firm control all game, Brooks saw his first targets of the season and proved to be a reliable option for Dak Prescott. The 2023 seventh-round pick has only been active for three of nine games so far as a rookie, seeing 44 offensive snaps to 39 on special teams, and it would likely take multiple injuries ahead of him on the depth chart for Brooks to show up on the fantasy radar.

Active in Week 10
Brooks is active for Sunday's Week 10 matchup and in line to serve as the No. 5 receiver against the Giants with KaVontae Turpin (shoulder) inactive, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Brooks last saw active status Week 6 and has yet to record his first NFL catch across 20 snaps over two games. The rookie seventh-round pick doesn't necessarily have a good chance of breaking the ice in that regard Sunday, however, considering all of CeeDee Lamb, Brandin Cooks, Michael Gallup and Jalen Tolbert are ahead of him in the air attack's pecking order.

Remains sidelined
Brooks (coach's decision) is inactive Sunday against the Eagles, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Brooks has only appeared in two contests thus far during his rookie campaign. He'll continue working to earn an active role with the team and suit up Week 10 against the Giants.

Won't play Sunday
Brooks (coach's decision) is inactive ahead of Sunday's game against the Rams, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The 2023 seventh-round pick out of South Carolina most recently played in Dallas' Week 5 game against the Chargers, but he failed to record a stat. Brooks has appeared in two games for the Cowboys this season, playing primarily on special teams (45 percent of snaps).

One catch against Raiders
Brooks recorded one catch on two targets for 11 yards in Saturday's 31-16 preseason win over the Raiders.
Analysis: Brooks saw both of his targets on Dallas' first drive and played eight of 11 snaps with the game's starters on the field. His quiet performance could actually mean good things for his chances to make the roster, as the Cowboys rested the top four receivers on their depth chart and Brooks exited early in the contest. Even if he makes the roster, he'll at best be the fifth wide receiver, so he isn't likely to make a significant offensive impact.

Making push for roster spot
Brooks would likely be on the Cowboys' initial 53-man roster if the season started this weekend, Jon Machota and Saad Yousef of The Athletic report.
Analysis: The 2023 seventh-round pick has stood out in training camp so far, notably outperforming the inconsistent but more athletic Simi Fehoko in the battle for the No. 6 spot on the wide receiver depth chart. Brooks will need to keep building momentum through the preseason to secure a roster spot, but so far so good for the South Carolina product.
