Four carries in win
Goodson had four carries for 22 yards in Sunday's win over Tennessee.
Analysis: Goodson had his most carries since Week 7 as he got some work with the Colts having a large lead. Jonathan Taylor had 218 yards rushing and the Colts had 335 yards rushing, so neither Goodson or Trey Sermon are likely to get many carries next week unless a similar blowout scenario happens. Goodson had minimal work the previous eight weeks (three total touches) as Taylor has received almost every touch in the backfield.

One carry in Week 15
Goodson rushed once for three yards in Sunday's 31-13 loss to the Broncos.
Analysis: Goodson's one carry was his first rushing attempt since Week 7. Operating as the Colts' No. 3 running back behind Jonathan Taylor and Trey Sermon, the 24-year-old played just five of 76 offensive snaps Sunday. Goodson has recorded just 28 carries for 131 yards and a touchdown this season, adding 10 catches for 56 yards and score in 13 games. Heading into a Week 16 matchup against the Titans, the Iowa product remains far off the fantasy radar.

Still lacking opportunities
Goodson didn't log a carry or target during the Colts' 25-24 win over the Patriots on Sunday but returned two kickoffs for 49 yards.
Analysis: Goodson remains No. 3 on the team's running back depth chart, which, in a backfield dominated by Jonathan Taylor, leaves the former with extremely sparse opportunities most weeks. The Iowa product hasn't had a carry since Week 7 or a target since Week 10. Although he should continue to see work in the return game, an injury to Taylor is likely his only path to touches on offense.

Not involved on offense Sunday
Goodson returned a kickoff for 25 yards while playing all 14 of his snaps on special teams in Sunday's 24-6 loss to the Lions.
Analysis: In a game in which Indianapolis logged just 49 offensive snaps, the Colts didn't need to turn to Goodson to spell Jonathan Taylor or Trey Sermon, who remain ahead of him on the depth chart at running back. Barring either Taylor or Sermon missing time to injury, Goodson -- who has logged no carries and four targets over the Colts' last five contests -- doesn't look as though he'll have a role on offense in the final six weeks of the season.

Plays just two snaps in win
Goodson did not have a carry or reception in Sunday's win at the Jets.
Analysis: Goodson played just two snaps on offense as Jonathan Taylor played on 63 of the offense's 70 snaps. Trey Sermon (five snaps) did play more snaps than Goodson, but it may be Goodson that has more of a role as a pass catcher if the Colts fall far behind. Either way, neither Sermon nor Goodson currently has much of a role if Taylor is fully healthy.

Has TD catch in loss
Goodson had two receptions for nine yards on two targets, including a two-yard touchdown, in Sunday's loss to Buffalo.
Analysis: Goodson played nine snaps on offense as he was used in passing situations. However, it was notable that Jonathan Taylor stayed on the field late in the game despite the Colts falling far behind, so it's not certain that Goodson will get more playing time in clear passing situations.

No touches in Week 9
Goodson failed to record a single carry or target in Sunday's 21-13 loss to the Vikings.
Analysis: Goodson played just one offensive snap in the contest, matching a season low in the eight games he's played this season. With teammate Jonathan Taylor back to full health, Goodson has reverted to his No. 3 running back role, with teammate Trey Sermon slotting in as the top backup. The 23-year-old should not be considered for fantasy purposes as the Colts host the Bills in Week 10.

Has drop on only target
Goodson had a drop on his only target in Sunday's loss at Houston.
Analysis: Goodson played just two snaps on offense, as he and Trey Sermon will have limited backup roles with the return of Jonathan Taylor from an ankle injury. Goodson appeared to move ahead of Sermon in the backfield mix last week with Taylor out, but Sermon played 10 snaps Sunday with Taylor playing 52 snaps. Goodson's pass drop won't help him work his way into the backfield mix as the receiving back, either.

Scores first career TD
Goodson carried the ball 14 times for 51 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 16-10 win over the Dolphins.
Analysis: While Trey Sermon got the start in place of Jonathan Taylor (ankle), it was Goodson who had the more productive day out of the backfield, capping his performance with a seven-yard run in the third quarter that resulted in his first career NFL touchdown. Taylor could return in Week 8 for a tilt against the Texans, but if he's not ready to go, coach Shane Steichen might decide to ride the hot hand between Goodson and Sermon again, making both backs volatile fantasy options.

Efficient in Week 6 win
Goodson rushed eight times for 51 yards and brought in four of five targets for 14 yards in the Colts' 20-17 win over the Titans on Sunday.
Analysis: Goodson finished with a team-high amount of rushing yards thanks in large part to a game-long 33-yard run. The second-year back was also encouragingly involved as a pass catcher, with his four receptions serving as a career high. If Jonathan Taylor (ankle) is forced to sit out a third consecutive game in next Sunday's home matchup against the Dolphins, Goodson may have earned himself a much closer time share with interim lead back Trey Sermon.

Tallies 86 all-purpose yards
Goodson rushed five times for 26 yards and brought in all three targets for 31 yards in the Colts' 37-34 loss to the Jaguars on Sunday. He also returned one kickoff for 29 yards.
Analysis: Goodson saw extended action as part of the domino effect of Jonathan Taylor's (ankle) absence, with the former checking in as the change-of-pace option to lead back Trey Sermon. Goodson was efficient with his limited opportunities after checking into the game with only one touch from scrimmage this season, but he'd likely slide back into fantasy irrelevance if Taylor is able to return for a Week 6 road matchup against the Titans.

Minimal role on offense again
Goodson did not have a carry or target in Sunday's win over Chicago. He played just two snaps on offense.
Analysis: Goodson is a clear third running back behind Jonathan Taylor and Trey Sermon. Goodson could get more playing time in passing situations when the Colts are trailing, but he's unlikely to log significant snaps unless one of the top two running backs are hurt.

Minimal role on offense
Goodson had one reception for two yards on his lone target in Sunday's 16-10 loss to the Packers.
Analysis: Goodson played on just nine of the offense's 56 snaps but got most of his usage late in the fourth quarter when the Colts were playing from behind. Jonathan Taylor was surprisingly on the bench late in the game after some drops earlier in the contest, so Trey Sermon and Tyler Goodson could see more of a role in the passing game in the short term. Goodson didn't play on offense in Week 1.

Not in the gameplan
Goodson didn't see any snaps on offense in Sunday's 29-27 loss to the Texans.
Analysis: Goodson won the team's No. 3 running back role, but that didn't allow him to see any snaps on offense in Week 1. Jonathan Taylor dominated the team's backfield reps while playing 95 percent of the snaps, with Trey Sermon picking up the other five percent. The Iowa product will likely not see many opportunities moving forward unless there is an injury to Taylor or Sermon, or if he can impress enough in practice to earn a larger role.

Wins No. 3 RB role
Goodson will begin the season as the No. 3 running back after the Colts waived Evan Hull, Nate Atkins of the Indianapolis Star reports.
Analysis: Goodson could begin the season as the backup to Jonathan Taylor if Trey Sermon misses time with a hamstring injury. Goodson's skill set best fits as a third-down, change-of-pace option.

Second RB in after Taylor
Goodson rushed 13 times for 57 yards and caught two of three targets for 10 yards in Thursday's 27-14 preseason win over the Bengals.
Analysis: Jonathan Taylor started the game, but Goodson was the second running back to mix into the game alongside the rest of the first-team offense, though Evan Hull (nine carries for 30 yards) also got some opportunities with the starters. Goodson continued to play with the backups, as the Colts wanted to get a long look at both him and Hull. Maintains edge in position battle
Goodson took six carries for 35 yards and touchdown (no targets) in Saturday's 21-13 preseason win over Arizona.
Analysis: Goodson was the first back used sans Jonathan Taylor (coach's decision) for the second game in a row this preseason. The 23-year-old responded with touchdowns in both exhibition contests. Fellow backup Evan Hull continues to play well behind Goodson on the depth chart, while projected No. 2 back Trey Sermon (hamstring) remains without a timeline to return. Scores TD in preseason opener
Goodson had seven carries for 15 yards, including a one-yard touchdown, and had two receptions for one yard in Sunday's preseason loss to Denver.
Analysis: Goodson and Evan Hull are battling for the No. 3 running back role and had nearly identical stats (Hull had eight carries for 16 yards and a one-yard touchdown). Goodson may have a slight lead in the competition since he entered the game before Hull. The winner of the No. 3 role could have fantasy relevance if the Colts utilize a third-down back.

Begins preseason as No. 3 RB
Goodson is listed as the third running back on Indianapolis' first unofficial depth chart of the preseason, Amanda Foster of the Colts' official site reports.
Analysis: Trey Sermon has had a strong camp and looks secure as the top backup to Jonathan Taylor. However, it's not clear how Indianapolis will use its running backs on passing downs. Goodson or Evan Hull could win a role as the team's third-down back.

Goodson (toe) participated in practice Thursday, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports.
Analysis: A previous report noted that Goodson was dealing with a toe issue, but the running back was out there Thursday for the Colts' first training camp practice. With Jonathan Taylor entrenched as the team's top option, Goodson is in line to compete with Trey Sermon and Evan Hull for depth slotting in Indy's backfield ahead of Week 1.

Goodson (toe) could be placed on Indianapolis' active/PUP list soon, Stephen Holder of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Goodson was getting some first-team reps with Jonathan Taylor missing practice earlier this offseason, but it now appears that he's dealing with a toe issue that could sideline him for the beginning of training camp. The Iowa product will likely be battling with Trey Sermon and Evan Hull for a depth role in Indianapolis' backfield once he returns to full health.

Getting some first-team reps
Goodson, Trey Sermon and Evan Hull got first-team reps at Thursday's practice, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan reports.
Analysis: Jonathan Taylor missed practice for personal reasons, leaving the Colts with an inexperienced group of running backs. Multiple reports have suggested Sermon and Hull will compete for the second spot on the depth chart, but Goodson's work with the starting offense suggests he's also in the running to earn a bench role. Disappointing end to season
Goodson did not handle a carry in Saturday's 23-19 loss versus the Texans, and he failed to bring in either of his two targets.
Analysis: The last meaningful play of a must-win game for Indianapolis was a dropped pass by Goodson that would have extended a potential game-winning drive with just over a minute to play. It's a difficult pill to swallow for Goodson, who had an otherwise promising season in 2023 relative to his rookie year in 2022. He has enough speed to get a second look during the offseason.

Just one carry in win
Goodson had one carry for three yards in Sunday's win over the Raiders.
Analysis: Goodson payed just three snaps on offense as the Colts had a large lead most of the game and didn't need a pass catcher to relieve Jonathan Taylor. Instead, Trey Sermon played 18 snaps and had five carries for 32 yards mostly late in the game when Taylor was briefly sidelined.

Records 30 total yards in loss
Goodson had one carry for 15 yards and one reception for 15 yards on two targets in Sunday's 29-10 loss to Atlanta.
Analysis: Both Goodson and Trey Sermon played 14 snaps on offense in reserve roled behind Jonathan Taylor (thumb), who made his return from a three-game absence. Goodson took on more opportunities than Sermon, who had two carries, but Goodson's role may have been enhanced by the fact that the Colts were trailing for much of the second half and went into a pass-happy game script. With Jonathan Taylor (thumb) sitting out again, Goodson and Trey Sermon manned the backfield from the middle of the second quarter onward. Analysis: Goodson left Friday's preseason opener with a shoulder injury, and it appears he'll miss some time. Finds paydirt in finale
Goodson had seven carries for 28 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's preseason finale against the Chiefs. He also caught five passes for 26 yards and returned two kicks for 27 yards.
Analysis: Goodson was held in check on most of his 12 touches in the Packers' final exhibition contest, but he did score on an impressive 24-yard run early in the second quarter. With 167 yards from scrimmage over the last three weeks, the undrafted rookie has done just about all he could have to earn a roster spot. The Packers could still elect to keep Patrick Taylor as the third running back, but Goodson was the more impressive of the two during the preseason.

Continues push for roster spot
Goodson had 10 carries for 42 yards and one reception for 10 yards in Friday's exhibition contest against the Saints.
Analysis: After starting the preseason opener, Goodson worked behind Patrick Taylor on Friday, but the former wound up with more touches and yards from scrimmage and also showed a bit more burst. Unless fellow running back Kylin Hill (knee) returns to action in the next week or so, either Goodson or Taylor will open the season as the third option in the Packers' backfield, and it's a tight race with one audition to go.

Tallies 14 touches in debut
Goodson had 12 carries for 37 yards and two receptions for 24 yards in Friday's preseason opener against the 49ers. He also returned a kick for 19 yards.
Analysis: Goodson did not run for more than seven yards on any of his 12 attempts, but he ripped off 23 yards on a screen pass in the first quarter and finished the night with a team-high 14 touches. With fellow running back Kylin Hill (knee) still on the PUP list, the third running back spot on the Packers' depth chart is up for grabs, and Goodson has done enough to challenge Patrick Taylor for that spot.
