Doesn't get roster spot
Jackson was waived by the Jets on Tuesday, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Jackson opened last season as the Colts' Week 1 starting running back while Jonathan Taylor was on the PUP list. However, he struggled with only 14 yards on 13 carries in the opener and was cut less than two weeks later. Jackson subsequently found work with the Browns and Giants, then signed a contract with the Jets this August. However, he won't be on the team's 53-man roster after gaining just 18 yards on eight carries during the preseason.

Inks deal
Jackson signed a contract with the Jets on Wednesday.
Analysis: Jackson bounced between the Colts, Browns and Giants last season, seeing action in four regular-season games. The Duke product managed to net only 16 yards on 14 carries, but he did have a little better success in 2022, when he averaged 3.5 YPC on 68 attempts. The 25-year-old will compete with rookies Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis, as well as with second-year pro Israel Abanikanda, for a spot behind Breece Hall at running back.

Gets workout with Texans
Houston worked out Jackson (undisclosed) on Friday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Analysis: Jackson was waived by the Giants with an injury settlement back in May, so he's now looking for another opportunity to make an impression. Given that the Texans signed Joe Mixon this offseason, still have Dameon Pierce under contract and just spent a draft pick on Jawhar Jordan, the path to a roster spot in Houston would be narrow for Jackson even if he did get signed.

Gets settlement
Jackson (undisclosed) was waived from injured reserve by the Giants on Tuesday with an injury settlement, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Analysis: Jackson was waived with an injury designation by New York on May 10 and placed on IR after clearing waivers. He'll now have the opportunity to find a new team for the 2024 campaign once he can prove that he's healthy.

Done with Giants
The Giants waived Jackson (undisclosed) with an injury designation Friday, Dan Salomone of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Jackson suited up for both Cleveland and Indianapolis in 2023, but he demonstrated a tendency to fumble the ball away and thus spent most of last season on the bench. If he clears waivers, he'll reverted to injured reserve.

Remaining in New York
Jackson signed a reserve/future contract with the Giants on Monday, Charlotte Carroll of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Jackson made appearances with the Colts and Browns this season, before ultimately finding his way to the Giants. The Duke product ended up totaling four appearances on the year, with 14 carries for 16 yards and five catches on six targets for 14 more yards through the air. He'll now have an opportunity to carve out a bigger role next season in New York.

Back with Giants' practice squad
The Giants signed Jackson to their practice squad Wednesday, Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post reports.
Analysis: Just a couple days after cutting him, the Giants have now decided to bring Jackson back on board. As long as Saquon Barkley and Matt Breida remain healthy, Jackson's path to playing time is still virtually nonexistent.

Healthy inactive for Week 11
Jackson (coach's decision) is inactive ahead of Sunday's game against the Commanders, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

Clears concussion protocol
Jackson cleared league concussion protocol Thursday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.

Won't face Dallas
Jackson (concussion) is ruled out for Sunday's road matchup against the Cowboys, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Analysis: Jackson won't be eligible to retake the field until he's fully cleared the NFL's five-step concussion protocol. The depth running back should have a good chance to return to health in time to suit up on the road versus Washington in Week 11.

Dealing with concussion
Jackson is in concussion protocol Wednesday, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Jackson played just 10 total snaps in Sunday's loss at Las Vegas, but it seems he might have picked up a concussion somewhere along the way. Most players who have entered the league's concussion protocol in 2023 have missed at least one game, so it's not a great sign as it relates to the possibility he'll play again in Week 10.

Healthy scratch for Week 8
Jackson is inactive for Sunday's matchup against the Jets, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Jackson was signed to the active roster by the Giants on Tuesday after he was cut by Cleveland one day earlier. New York is in need of running back depth with Gary Brightwell (hamstring) and Eric Gray (calf) landing on IR this week, but the team has opted to look to the also recently signed Jashaun Corbin to back up Saquon Barkley and Matt Breida against the Jets. Snapped up by Giants
The Giants claimed Jackson from waivers Tuesday, Dan Salomone of the Giants' official site reports.
Analysis: Jackson was signed to the Browns' active roster Saturday, played seven snaps on special teams Sunday against the Colts and was cut by the team Monday. Rather than going unclaimed, Jackson was picked up by the Giants, who are in need of backfield depth with Eric Gray (calf) placed on injured reserve, while Saquon Barkley (elbow) and Gary Brightwell (hamstring) are both questionable for the Week 8 game against the Jets.

Cut by Cleveland
Jackson was waived by the Browns on Monday, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: If Jackson goes unclaimed, he will be a candidate to land back on the Browns' practice squad. He's suited up for three games this season between his time with the Colts and Browns, primarily as a depth option in the backfield and a special-teams contributor. He saw seven snaps (23 percent) in the latter department in Sunday's game versus Indianapolis.

The Browns signed Jackson to the active roster Saturday.
Analysis: Jackson has been on Cleveland's practice squad since Week 3 after suiting up the first two weeks of the season. With Kareem Hunt (thigh) questionable for Week 7, it looks like the Browns are opting to add depth in the backfield. Jackson accumulated 14 yards on 13 carries to go along with 14 yards through the air on five receptions during his two games earlier this year.

Jackson was waived by the Colts on Saturday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Trey Sermon will be signed from the practice squad in a corresponding move. Jackson drew the start in a Week 1 loss against the Jaguars. He turned in a disastrous showing in the featured role, carrying 13 times for 14 yards and reeling in five of six targets for just 14 yards while also losing two fumbles. Limited to special teams
Jackson did not have a carry or a target in Sunday's win at Houston. He played just one snap on special teams and none on offense with the return of Zack Moss from a broken forearm.
Analysis: Moss took over as the primary running back and had every touch of the team's backfield usage (18 carries for 88 yards and four receptions on four targets for 19 yards), while Jackson and Jake Funk were not used. It's possible Jackson could get more involved in Week 3 as a pass catcher, as the Colts were playing with a large lead most of the game. However, Jackson's two lost fumbles Week 1 also may have him in a doghouse that could take some time to get out of.

Jackson is expected to move into a backup role in Sunday's game against the Texans with Zack Moss (forearm) having been cleared to play Week 2 after practicing fully Wednesday through Friday, Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Star reports.
Analysis: With Moss sidelined for Week 1 and with Jonathan Taylor (ankle) sidelined for at least the Colts' first four games while on the PUP list, Jackson drew the start out of the Indianapolis backfield in last Sunday's 31-21 loss to the Jaguars. Struggles in Sunday's start
Jackson carried the ball 13 times for only 14 yards and caught five of six targets for 14 yards in Sunday's 31-21 loss to the Jaguars. He also lost two fumbles.
Analysis: With Jonathan Taylor (ankle) on the PUP list to begin the season and Zack Moss (forearm) not yet 100 percent, Jackson got the start in the backfield for the Colts but had little success on the ground, with his longest carry going for only seven yards. Candidate to lead Week 1 backfield
With Zack Moss (forearm) inactive, Jackson is likely to start at running back for the Colts on Sunday against the Jaguars, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Given that Jonathan Taylor (ankle) is on the PUP list and Moss is unavailable, the Colts figure to employ some sort of backfield committee led by Jackson in Week 1. Also in the mix for touches versus Jacksonville are rookie Evan Hull and Jake Funk to a lesser degree, but Jackson at least offers an option to fantasy managers in deep leagues or who are otherwise scrambling for Week 1 RB help.

Could have less competition
Jackson could see additional work if Zack Moss (forearm), who was downgraded to doubtful for Sunday's game, is unable to play, Stephen Holder of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Holder suggests Jackson would be the team's listed starter in the event Moss was unable to play, but the prevailing expectation is that Evan Hull would also see opportunities and could even see work in passing situations despite Jackson's acumen (30 catches, 209 yards last year) in that area. The third-year back never saw more than 13 carries in a game despite nominal starter Jonathan Taylor missing extensive time at various points last season, so it remains to be seen how much work Jackson can…read more

Could share Week 1 snaps with Moss
Jackson could face competition for touches out of the backfield Sunday against the Jaguars from Zack Moss (arm), who was a limited practice participant Wednesday.
Analysis: Prior reports had suggested that Moss was unlikely to be ready to make his season debut until Week 2 or 3, but he now seems to have at least some chance of being ready to play Sunday, per JJ Stankevitz of the Colts' official site. If so, Moss would likely work in some form of a committee with Jackson and possibly Evan Hull, giving Indianapolis the most unsettled backfield in the league. Likely Week 1 starter
Jackson is on track to start Week 1 against Jacksonville, with Zack Moss (arm) expected back for Week 2 or 3, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Analysis: Jackson was Indy's lead back for most of the preseason, with rookie Evan Hull also taking some snaps on the first-team offense. Moss is still expected to climb back atop the depth chart at some point in September, but perhaps not for Week 1 after he broke his arm/wrist at the end of July. Could start with Taylor on PUP
Jackson appears to be the likely starting running back for the Colts with Jonathan Taylor (ankle) placed on the reserve/PUP list, though Zack Moss could return from a broken arm by Week 1, Dianna Russini and James Boyd of The Athletic report.
Analysis: Indy's running back situation without Taylor is unsettled heading into a Week 1 matchup against Jacksonville. Jackson got the start in two of three preseason games (including the preseason finale) but could share playing time with rookie Evan Hull. Scores TD, shares with Hull
Jackson took four carries for eight yards and a touchdown and caught one of three targets for six yards in Thursday's 27-13 preseason win over the Eagles.
Analysis: With Jonathan Taylor (contract/PUP) and Zack Moss (broken arm) both unavailable, Jackson split first-team snaps with Evan Hull, who had a 6-25-1 rushing line but wasn't targeted. The Colts kept their first-team offense on the field for the entire first half, six drives, in which time Jackson and Hull were the only tailbacks to take snaps. Underwhelms in preseason start
Jackson had three carries for eight yards and had two receptions for 15 yards on two targets in Saturday's preseason win over Chicago.
Analysis: Jackson got the start at running back, but the Colts rested every starter on offense. Jackson wasn't as impressive as the first preseason game (six carries for 35 yards) but that may have been a byproduct of working with the second-team offensive line. With top running back Jonathan Taylor (ankle) on the PUP list and Zack Moss out with a broken arm, Jackson could enter the regular season as the top running back. However, the Colts could sign a veteran late in camp if Taylor remains out.

Jackson (quad) did not practice Thursday does not expect to play in Saturday's preseason game at Buffalo, the team's official web site reports.
Analysis: With top running back Jonathan Taylor (ankle) on the PUP list and Zack Moss out with a broken arm, the Colts signed Jason Huntley on Wednesday to add depth to the running back room. If Jackson is able to quickly move past his injury, he could have a significant role with the Colts if Taylor remains sidelined for the start of the regular season. Top healthy Colts RB
Jackson is in line for an expanded role, as Stephen Holder of ESPN reports that Zack Moss is slated to miss 4-to-6 weeks after breaking his arm in Monday's practice.
Analysis: Moss had been working with the starting offense with Jonathan Taylor (ankle) away from the team after recently requesting a trade. While Moss recovers, Jackson and rookie fifth-round pick Evan Hull are projected to lead the Colts backfield. Jackson got double-digit touches in five games last season, and he averaged 82.8 yards from scrimmage in those games.

Faces competition for No. 3 RB role
Jackson will face competition from 2023 fifth-round draft pick Evan Hull for the pass-catching role out of the backfield, The Athletic reports.
Analysis: While Hull was just a Day 3 pick, he's seen as a skilled receiver with 94 receptions for 851 yards in his college career at Northwestern. Jackson rushed 68 times for 236 yards and one touchdown while catching 30 of 34 targets for 209 yards and one touchdown last season. He returned for the veteran minimum, so he's not a lock to make the roster if Hull wins a larger role. However, Jonathan Taylor should get the vast majority of playing time and leave few touches for the rest of the backfield.

The 23-year-old running back rushed 68 times for 236 yards and one touchdown while catching 30 of 34 targets for 209 yards and one touchdown this season. Just three touches
Jackson had three carries for 10 yards in Sunday's loss at the Giants.
Analysis: Jackson played just 14 snaps on offense and fell to third in carries behind starter Zack Moss and Jordan Wilkins. Three weeks ago, Jackson looked set to be the starter if Jonathan Taylor were to get hurt. However, Jackson has fallen out of favor after Taylor's season-ending ankle injury and now may be a third-stringer. Jackson had zero carries but caught all three targets for nine yards during Monday's 20-3 loss to the Chargers.
Analysis: With Jonathan Taylor (ankle) on IR, Jackson was expected to see an increased workload. However, his first reception went for a nine-yard loss in the first quarter, and he didn't touch the ball again until the Colts' final offensive possession. Colts interim head coach Jeff Saturday said that Jackson will likely be part of a rotation out of the backfield with Zack Moss during Monday's game against the Chargers, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: After Jonathan Taylor (ankle) exited early in last Saturday's 39-36 overtime loss to the Vikings with what proved to be a season-ending injury, Jackson ranked a distant second to Moss in terms of snap share. Jackson finished the day with 25 snaps (31.6 percent) and logged 13 carries for 55 yards to go with a one-yard touchdown reception, while Moss took 53 snaps (67.1 percent) and carried 24 times for 81 yards while going without a target. Analysis: Taylor played just two snaps Saturday before exiting the contest with what will likely end up being a season-ending injury, and the Colts were able to find plenty of work for both Jackson and Moss while the team held a double-digit lead for more than three quarters before the Vikings completed an improbable and historic comeback. Catches TD after Taylor injury

After Moss was stuffed by the goal line, Jackson checked in to start the team's next possession and wound up capping it with a one-yard touchdown catch. Four catches in loss to Philly
Jackson rushed once for seven yards and caught all four of his targets for three yards in Sunday's 17-16 loss to the Eagles.
Analysis: A healthy Jonathan Taylor got the vast majority of the Colts' rushing attempts, racking up 84 yards on 22 carries. Matt Ryan tried to get Jackson involved as a pass catcher out of the backfield, but the Eagles' sure tackling prevented Jackson from contributing much in that regard. Returning to action in Week 11
Jackson (knee) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game against the Eagles.
Analysis: Even though Jackson is set to put an end to a two-game absence due to a knee injury, he'll be playing second fiddle, at best, in a Colts backfield dominated by a now healthy Jonathan Taylor. Jackson has shown prowess as a pass catcher, though, having hauled in 16 of 17 passes for 121 yards this season, so he may slide into the role previously held by Nyheim Hines, who was dealt to the Bills at the trade deadline.

Analysis: Jackson missed the Colts' 25-20 win over Las Vegas last Sunday, while Jonathan Taylor returned from an ankle injury to play 94 percent of the snaps while taking 22 carries for 147 yards and a touchdown. Taylor will lead the backfield again this Sunday against Philadelphia, with Zack Moss and Jordan Wilkins providing depth if Jackson isn't ready to suit up.

Ruled out for Week 10
Jackson (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Raiders.
Analysis: With Jonathan Taylor (ankle) having practiced fully Thursday and Friday, the Colts are in line to have their top back available this weekend. Taylor's return helps soften the blow of the absence of Jackson, who now looks to be the team's top backup running back after last week's trade that sent Nyheim Hines to Buffalo. With Jackson out of the mix for Week 10, however, the Colts' backup options are newcomer Zack Moss as well as current practice-squad members Jordan Wilkins and Jake Funk.

Misses second straight practice
Jackson (knee) didn't participate in Thursday's practice.
Analysis: After serving as the Colts' lead back in last week's loss to the Patriots while Jonathan Taylor (ankle) missed his third game of the season, Jackson now appears to be the worst health among the two backs. Taylor returned to practice Wednesday as a limited participant before upgrading to full activity Thursday, while Jackson didn't log any reps for the second day in a row. Jackson could still put himself in position to play Sunday in Las Vegas if he manages some practice activity Friday, but…read more

Not practicing to start week
Jackson was held out of practice Wednesday with a knee injury.
Analysis: Meanwhile, Jonathan Taylor (ankle) returned to practice as a limited participant after missing a 26-3 loss to the Patriots on Sunday. Jackson was the lead back in that game but finished with only 36 yards on 13 touches in an ugly outing for the Indianapolis offense in what turned out to be Frank Reich's final game as head coach. It's possible Jackson gets another start Sunday in Las Vegas, but only if he makes progress later in the week while Taylor heads the other direction.

Only 36 yards on 13 touches
Jackson rushed the ball 11 times for 23 yards in Sunday's 26-3 loss to the Patriots. He added two receptions on three targets for 13 yards.
Analysis: Jackson served as the Colts' primary running back with Jonathan Taylor (ankle) and Zack Moss (coach's decision) both inactive. Despite dominating touches out of the backfield, he managed very little production as the team's offense was stalled for the entire game. It's unclear how long Taylor may be sidelined, but even if he misses a Week 10 matchup against the Raiders, it's difficult to trust Jackson to produce given the poor state of the Colts offense.

In line to fill in for Taylor
With Jonathan Taylor (ankle) and newcomer Zack Moss inactive, per JJ Stankevitz of the Colts' official site, Jackson is line for an expanded role Sunday against the Patriots.
Analysis: The Colts' Week 9 backfield will also include practice squad elevations Phillip Lindsay and Jordan Wilkins, but in Taylor's absence, Jackson should lead the team's ground game Sunday. In that context, Jackson qualifies as a fantasy lineup option for those needing a replacement for Taylor or who are looking for some added short-term running back depth with six NFL teams currently on bye.

Slated for expanded role Sunday
Jackson is expected to start and take on an expanded role Sunday against the Patriots with Jonathan Taylor (ankle) ruled out for the contest, Kevin Bowen of 107.5 The Fan Indianapolis reports.
Analysis: The report notes that the Colts are likely to elevate Phillip Lindsay from their practice squad ahead of the contest, with newcomer Zack Moss' role this weekend to be determined. Also currently on the team's practice squad are D'Vonte Price and Jordan Wilkins. With that in mind, Jackson profiles as a fantasy lineup option for those looking to find a replacement for Taylor or seeking some Week 9 running back depth with six NFL teams on bye.

Just one carry in loss
Jackson lost four yards on his lone carry in Sunday's loss to Washington.
Analysis: Jackson played just two snaps on offense as he has a limited reserve role with both Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines healthy.

Moves back to minimal role
Jackson had two carries for three yards in Sunday's loss at Tennessee.
Analysis: Jackson played just five snaps on offense as he's moved back to a deep reserve role with both Jonathan Taylor (ankle) and Nyheim Hines (concussion) returning from injury. Jackson had 29 total touches for 222 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown in two games with Taylor out, so he still could have fantasy value if pressed into a larger role. However, Jackson may get few touches on offense with both Taylor and Hines healthy.

Full participant Wednesday
Jackson (quadriceps) was a full participant during Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: Jackson was forced out of Indianapolis' Week 6 win over the Jaguars due to a quadriceps injury, but he appears to have avoided a major issue and should be good to go for a Week 7 matchup with the Titans. However, after racking up 39 total touches for 222 yards and a touchdown over his last two appearances, Jackson may drop to third in the backfield pecking order, as Jonathan Taylor (ankle) logged another limited practice and Nyheim Hines (concussion) fully participated Wednesday. Regardless,…read more

Practicing Wednesday
Jackson (quadriceps) practiced Wednesday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: While the extent of the running back's participation isn't yet officially known, Boyd relays that Jackson, along with Jonathan Taylor (ankle) and Nyheim Hines (concussion), participated Wednesday in their normal practice gear. With Taylor and Hines combining to play three snaps over the Colts' last two games due to their injuries, Jackson has been a stellar replacement, totaling 39 touches for 222 yards and one score. However, Jackson picked up a quad issue late in the team's Week 6 win over…read more

Injures quad Sunday
Jackson won't return to Sunday's game against the Jaguars after sustaining a quad injury, Andrew Walker of the Colts' official site reports.
Analysis: Prior to his exit from the contest, Jackson logged 12 carries for 42 yards and a TD and caught all 10 of his targets for 79 yards. With fellow running backs Jonathan Taylor (ankle) and Nyheim Hines (concussion) out Sunday, Jackson led the Colts' Week 6 rushing attack, but now his status will need to be monitored in advance of next weekend's game against the Titans.

Should play more sans Taylor, Hines
Jackson is expected to benefit from an expanded workload for the second game in a row with fellow backs Jonathan Taylor (ankle) and Nyheim Hines (concussion) having both been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Jaguars, The Associated Press reports. "What we're looking for is consistency in performance. We think Deon can provide that if needed," head coach Frank Reich said Friday, before Taylor and Hines were downgraded to out Saturday. "We feel like Deon took a major step [Week 5 against Denver]. I don't think he surprised us."
Analysis: When Taylor sat out against Denver and when Hines exited after playing just three snaps, Jackson stepped up to take on the largest workload of his career. He played 44 snaps (60 percent) on offense in the 12-9 overtime win, carrying 13 times for 62 yards while adding four receptions for 29 yards on four targets. Meanwhile, Phillip Lindsay played 36 percent of the snaps in that game and totaled 54 yards from scrimmage on his 14 touches (11 carries, three receptions), and the Colts have elevated…read more

Solid with extended opportunity
Jackson rushed 13 times for 62 yards and brought in all four targets for 29 yards in the Colts' 12-9 overtime win over the Broncos on Thursday night.
Analysis: Jackson stepped up with a team-high rushing yardage tally in the absence of Jonathan Taylor (ankle) and also put in impressive work as a receiver. The undrafted second-year back was also the beneficiary of extra opportunity due to Nyheim Hines' early exit from the game with a concussion, and he outproduced veteran backfield mate Phillip Lindsay by 22 rushing yards on only two additional carries. If Taylor is unable to suit up for a Week 6 home divisional rematch with the Jaguars a week from…read more

Limited to special teams
Jackson did not play any snaps on offense and played 15 snaps on special teams in Sunday's overtime tie at Houston.
Analysis: While he's the No. 3 running back on the depth chart, the Colts appear set to only give meaningful touches to Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines as long as both remain healthy.

Wins No. 3 RB role
Jackson made the Colts' 53-man roster as the No. 3 running back, 107.5 FM The Fan Indianapolis reports.
Analysis: Jackson was a surprise winner of the competition over Phillip Lindsay, D'Vonte Price and Ty'Son Williams. However, Jackson won't get many snaps on offense as long as Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines remain healthy. He may see almost all his action on special teams.

Impresses in preseason finale
Jackson had four carries for three yards, including a one-yard touchdown, in Saturday's preseason win over Tampa Bay. He also had three receptions on four targets for 34 yards.
Analysis: With Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines being held out of the preseason finale, it was a surprise that Jackson got the start and played along starting quarterback Matt Ryan. While Jackson had a strong performance, he still may not make the final 53-man roster with Phillip Lindsay likely to win the No. 3 running back role.

Minimal playing time in 2021
Jackson rushed 13 times for 31 yards and a touchdown across nine appearances in 2021.
Analysis: Jackson established himself as the Colts' No. 3 running back behind Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines during the second half of the 2021 campaign, but he still played primarily on special teams. While the 22-year-old reached the end zone Week 13, Jackson wasn't a reliable fantasy contributor while serving in a depth role.

First touchdown of career
Jackson rushed six times for 19 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 31-0 win over the Texans.
Analysis: Jackson capped off a nine-play, 40-yard drive with a three-yard touchdown run -- the first of his career -- to extend the Colts' lead to 31-0 late in the fourth quarter. The rookie has only been seen the field in garbage time this year, and the primary handcuffs to Jonathan Taylor likely remain Nyheim Hines and Marlon Mack; therefore, Jackson doesn't warrant much fantasy consideration.

Gets six carries in win
Jackson had six carries for 12 yards in Sunday's win at Buffalo.
Analysis: Jackson played seven snaps on offense as he got some touches amid a blowout win. Jackson is serving as the third running back over Marlon Mack because Jackson plays on special teams. If Jonathan Taylor of Nyheim Hines were to get hurt, it's likely Mack who would be active on game days instead of Jackson.

Signed off practice squad
Jackson was signed to the Colts' active roster ahead of Thursday's Week 9 matchup against the Jets.
Analysis: Jackson joined the active roster for Sunday's overtime loss to the Titans but played just 13 snaps on special teams. He's unlikely to have a significant role against the Jets.

Bumps to active roster
Jackson was elevated to the Colts' active roster ahead of Sunday's tilt against the Titans.
Analysis: Jackson signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent in the past offseason. While he figures to primarily be available for special teams contribution, he will also provide depth at running back.
