Signs with Bears off practice squad
Evans signed with Chicago's active roster off the practice squad Saturday, Courtney Cronin of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Evans is likely to work as Chicago's third-string running back behind D'Andre Swift and Roschon Johnson on Sunday against the Lions, as Travis Homer (hamstring) is listed as doubtful. A roster spot for Evans opened up when the Bears placed guard Ryan Bates on injured reserve.

Reverts to practice squad
Evans reverted to Chicago's practice squad on Wednesday. per the NFL's official transactions report.
Analysis: The Bears elevated Evans for Monday night's loss to the Vikings, but he was ultimately only called upon to handle seven snaps on special-teams. If Roschon Johnson (concussion) is again unable to suit up Sunday versus Detroit, Evans will be a candidate to be elevated as a depth option behind D'Andre Swift again.

Elevated ahead of MNF
The Bears elevated Evans from the practice squad ahead of Monday night's game against the Vikings, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Analysis: With Roschon Johnson (concussion) out and D'Andre Swift (groin) coming into Monday night hobbled, the Bears need some extra backfield depth. Evans carried the ball three times for three yards last week against San Francisco.

Returns to practice squad
Evans reverted to the Bears' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Analysis: Evans was elevated to the active roster ahead of Sunday's 38-13 loss to the 49ers, turning three carries into three yards while playing three offensive snaps. The running back could be asked to join the Bears' roster again in Week 15 versus the Vikings on Monday Night Football with Travis Homer (head) and Roschon Johnson (concussion) potentially unavailable.

Limited role in defeat
Evans had three rushes for three yards in the Bears' 38-13 loss to the 49ers on Sunday.
Analysis: Evans was activated to the active roster with Roschon Johnson (concussion) sitting this game out. Despite functioning as the No. 3 running back, Travis Homer suffered a head injury, resulting in Evans seeing more action than anticipated. If Chicago continues to deal with running back injuries, Evans could be elevated from the practice squad during the fantasy playoffs.

Elevated to active roster
The Bears elevated Evans from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Evans joined the Bears' practice squad Nov. 6 after being let go from the Bills' injured reserve Oct. 29 due to a hamstring injury he suffered in late August. Evans will be on the Bears' active roster for Sunday's game against the 49ers, and he could see some snaps on offense due to Roschon Johnson (concussion) being ruled out. If D'Andre Swift (quadriceps) is also unable to play, Evans would serve as the Bears' No. 2 running back behind Travis Homer.

Elevation candidate with RBs hurt
Evans is a candidate to be elevated from Chicago's practice squad prior to Sunday's game against the 49ers, as D'Andre Swift (quad) is listed as questionable while Roschon Johnson (concussion) has been ruled out.
Analysis: The Bears also have Travis Homer on the roster, but Homer has been deployed mostly in a pass-catching capacity throughout his career, so Evans could see some run on early downs, especially if Swift is limited or unavailable. Swift was a limited participant in practice Friday after sitting out both Wednesday and Thursday. Evans dressed for 19 regular-season games spanning 2020-2023, with 11 of those appearances coming with the Bears.

Headed to Chicago
The Bears signed Evans to their practice squad Wednesday, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Evans was dropped by the Bills on Oct. 29, but he's already found a new home in Chicago. The Appalachian State product's most recent in-game action came in 2023 with the Dolphins, when he appeared in two contests and recorded 16 rushing yards on two carries. He could be elevated to Chicago's active roster at some point this season, especially after Khalil Herbert was traded to the Bengals on Tuesday.

Let go by Buffalo
The Bills released Evans (hamstring) from IR on Tuesday.
Analysis: Evans started the regular season on injured reserve after injuring his hamstring during the Bills' preseason finale against the Panthers in late August. His 21-day practice window to return from IR opened Oct. 9, but the Bills don't have room for Evans to join the active roster alongside fellow running backs James Cook, Ray Davis and Ty Johnson. Not in Week 8 mix
Evans (hamstring) wasn't activated from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game against the Seahawks.
Analysis: Evans, whose 21-day practice window opened Oct. 9, will thus target a potential return to action in Week 9. In his continued absence, James Cook, Ray Davis and Ty Johnson are available to handle the Bills' running back duties versus Seattle.

Doubtful for Week 8
Evans (hamstring) is listed as doubtful ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Seahawks.
Analysis: The Appalachian State product must still be activated to the Bills' active roster in order to suit up Sunday. Despite back-to-back weeks without practice limitations, Evans is expected to miss his eighth consecutive game due to a hamstring injury. However, if he is activated ahead of Sunday's contest, he'll likely serve as the team's fourth-string running back behind Ty Johnson, Ray Davis and James Cook.

Remains on IR for Week 7
Evans (hamstring) was not activated from injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game against the Titans.
Analysis: Evans will miss his seventh consecutive game to open the season after he was injured in late August. The Bills will continue to roll with James Cook, Ray Davis (calf) and Ty Johnson in the backfield for another week. Evans is unlikely to have a substantial role once he's activated. His 21-day practice window was opened 10 days ago.

Doubtful for Sunday
Evans (hamstring) is listed as doubtful ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Titans, Sal Capaccio of WGR Sports Radio 550 Buffalo reports.
Analysis: Evans has missed the Bills' first six games this season after sustaining a hamstring injury in late August. However, the Appalachian State product was designated to return from injured reserve on Oct. 9 and logged a week of full practice sessions, giving himself a small chance to play Sunday. Not activated for MNF
Evans (hamstring) will remain on injured reserve ahead of Monday's Week 6 game against the Jets.
Analysis: Evans was placed on IR just before the beginning of the regular season and was designated to return this past Wednesday. He logged a trio of full practices during the week, but the Bills aren't activating him for Monday Night Football despite the fact that lead running back James Cook won't play due to a toe injury. Evans' next opportunity to make his season debut will come Sunday, Oct. 20 versus Tennessee.

Could return Monday
Evans (hamstring) practiced in full Saturday but doesn't have a designation for Monday's game against the Jets.
Analysis: Evans was designated to return from IR on Wednesday and has been a full participant in practice all week. However, he has yet to be added to the 53-man roster, leaving his status for MNF up in the air. His status for the matchup may ultimately hinge on James Cook's (toe) ability to play.

Set to return to practice
Buffalo designated Evans (hamstring) for return to practice Wednesday, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Evans spent the first five weeks of the season on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury he suffered during the Bills' last preseason game, but now that he's been cleared to practice again, he'll be eligible for activation ahead of Monday's game against the Jets. The Bills will have a 21-day window to evaluate Evans in practice, however, so the team could instead choose to bring him back in Week 7 or 8 if they're not confident that he'll be ready to go for Monday's contest.

Moved to IR, return designation
Evans (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve by the Bills on Tuesday with a designation to return.
Analysis: Evans hurt his hamstring in the Bills' final preseason game Saturday and must now miss at least the first four weeks of the season. With Frank Gore Jr. getting cut Tuesday, the Bills enter Week 1 with a three-man running back crew of James Cook, Ray Davis and Ty Johnson.

Won't return Saturday
Evans (hamstring) is out for the rest of Saturday's preseason game against the Panthers.
Analysis: The running back -- who is fighting for a roster spot -- carried the ball three times for 15 yards and caught two passes for 24 yards and a score before exiting. Evans signed with the Bills in January after spending 2023 with the Bears and Dolphins, carrying the ball 32 times for 121 yards and a score over seven regular-season games.

Elevated from practice squad
The Dolphins elevated Evans from their practice squad Saturday ahead of their Week 15 game versus the Jets.
Analysis: Evans signed to Miami's practice squad Nov. 21 and was quickly elevated for the team's Week 12 loss to the Jets, carrying the ball twice for eight yards in that contest. He thereafter reverted to the practice squad but could now get a chance for game action Sunday in a rematch with the Jets. Evans was elevated from the Dolphins' practice squad Thursday.
Analysis: Evans, who just signed with Miami on Tuesday, will have an opportunity to make his debut with the team Friday against the Jets. Targeted twice in victory
Evans rushed twice for five yards in the Bears' 16-13 win over the Panthers on Thursday.
Analysis: After getting 25 combined touches combined Weeks 6 and 7, Evans received three carries and four targets over the past two games. With Khalil Herbert (ankle) appearing set to return to the lineup in Week 11, Evans may not have a spot on the game-day roster going forward.

Three touches in losing effort
Evans had a two-yard rush and two catches for 19 yards in the Bears' 24-17 loss to the Saints on Sunday.
Analysis: After handling 25 touches in Weeks 6 and 7, Evans has seen his workload decrease in each of the last two weeks. He'll likely retain a minor role in the offense until Khalil Herbert (ankle) returns, which could be as soon as Week 10. Once Herbert is back, Evans may be a candidate to be inactive on game days.

Scores touchdown in losing effort
Evans rushed four times for 18 yards and a touchdown while catching three passes for 22 yards in the Bears' 30-13 loss to the Chargers on Sunday.
Analysis: Evans had the most yards among the three Chicago running backs despite having fewer touches than D'Onta Foreman and Roschon Johnson. It seems likely that Evans will remain in the backfield rotation until Khalil Herbert (ankle) returns from injured reserve, which could be as soon as Week 10.

Big workload in Sunday's win
Evans carried the ball 14 times for 48 yards and caught one of three targets for six yards in Sunday's 30-12 win over the Raiders.
Analysis: The 2020 third-round pick saw nearly as many touches as D'Onta Foreman (19), but the latter was far more productive, piling up 120 scrimmage yards and three total TDs. Evans' workload is encouraging, but his role in the Chicago backfield in Week 8 against the Chargers will likely be dependent on the health of Roschon Johnson (concussion).

Evans was waived by the Colts on Tuesday.
Analysis: Evans just signed with the team in March. The 24-year-old appeared in six games for the Bears last season, recording 14 carries for 64 yards and a catch for 33 yards on his only target. A third-round pick of the Titans in 2020, he'll now look for a new opportunity elsewhere.

Inking deal with Indy
The Colts are slated to sign Evans, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Evans, who worked out for Indianapolis early Friday morning, has since reportedly received a contract to suit up for the team in 2023. The 24-year-old running back is heading into his fourth year in the NFL and is now in line to play for his third different team following his two-season tenure with the Titans and a one-year stint in Chicago. Evans will presumably compete for a roster spot with Deon Jackson, Jake Funk and Aaron Shampklin behind top backfield options Jonathan Taylor and Zack Moss.

Working out for Indianapolis
The Colts are hosting Evans for a tryout Friday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Evans, a 2020 third-round pick of the Titans, garnered 64 yards on 13 carries with the Bears last season, but became an unrestricted free agent back in March. Indianapolis already has Zack Moss and Deon Jackson present as depth behind Jonathan Taylor (ankle), but Evans' experience in the kick return game could help his chances of earning an opportunity.

Will be an unrestricted free agent
Chicago didn't extend Evans a qualifying offer or tender as a restricted free agent Wednesday, so he's officially an unrestricted free agent, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Evans appeared in six games for the Bears in 2022, totaling 14 rushing attempts for 64 yards and securing his lone target for 33 yards. The 2020 third-round pick has previous experience as a kick-return man during his time in Tennessee, which should increase his value as a free agent this summer.

Inactive in Week 18
Evans ended the season with 14 carries for 64 yards along with one reception for 33 yards over six games played.
Analysis: Evans saw his first offensive snaps of the season in Week 11, while Khalil Herbert was on injured reserve. During the five games he was in the running back rotation, he topped out at 18 snaps and handled a total of 14 carries in five games. He's now a restricted free agent.

Minimal usage in loss
Evans rushed twice for nine yards in the Bears' 25-20 loss to the Eagles on Sunday.
Analysis: After handling 10 touches in Week 12, Evans has a total of five touches in the two games since that time. With Khalil Herbert (hip) nearing a return, Evans could see his role diminish even further as he'd likely move back to the No. 3 running back role.

Minor role in loss
Evans rushed three times for 21 yards in the Bears' 28-19 loss to the Packers on Sunday.
Analysis: After handling 10 touches last week against the Jets, Evans was used very sparingly against Green Bay, and his inconsistent usage through two games will make him tough to consider as a reliable fantasy option in the near future.

Gets 10 touches in Week 12 loss
Evans rushed nine times for 34 yards and caught his only target for 33 yards in Sunday's 31-10 loss to the Jets.
Analysis: Evans outraced C.J. Mosley around the corner for a 33-yard gain after catching a pass over the middle on Chicago's opening drive, but that was his only target, and the practice-squad elevation failed to get much going on the ground. After using Evans as the only change-of-pace option behind David Montgomery, the Bears will likely add Evans to the roster again for their Week 13 game against the Packers.

Promoted to active roster again
The Bears elevated Evans from their practice squad to the active roster Saturday ahead of a Week 12 clash against the Jets.
Analysis: Evans was also elevated ahead of last week's loss to Atlanta, but he played only two offensive snaps and didn't receive a touch or a target. The third-year back also logged six special-teams snaps and figures to fill a similar role this week. Chicago will likely again go with David Montgomery and Trestan Ebner as its top two ball carriers Sunday.

Bumps back down to practice squad
Evans reverted to the Bears' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Analysis: Evans was elevated from Chicago's practice squad for the second time this season ahead of Sunday's loss to Atlanta. However, the 24-year-old running back once failed to record an offensive statistic, as he played six of his eight snaps on special teams Week 11. Moves up to active roster
Evans was elevated to the Bears' active roster Saturday.
Analysis: Evans got the call-up in early October when David Montgomery was sidelined, but Saturday's designation will likely help provide depth at running back with Khalil Herbert (hip) on injured reserve. Analysis: Evans saw significant work throughout the preseason, totaling 19 rushes for 77 yards and a score while catching six passes for 27 yards, but he still finds himself among a wave of cuts ahead of Tuesday's 53-man roster deadline. The 2020 third-round pick has only appeared in six career games across two seasons in Tennessee, but he'll have to look for a new opportunity after his stint in Chicago was cut short.

Five touches in win
Evans rushed four times for 18 yards and posted a 14-yard reception in the Bears' 21-20 win against the Browns on Saturday.
Analysis: With Trestan Ebner (ankle) missing the game, Evans entered the contest with the backups late in the first half. He left the game with an undisclosed injury but returned in the fourth quarter. He's been battling with Ebner for the No. 3 running back role this summer, but if the Bears keep four running backs, he would appear to be in line to make the regular-season roster if he's unable to pass Ebner on the depth chart.

Finds end zone
Evans rushed eight times for 39 yards and a touchdown while catching two passes for seven yards in the Bears' 27-11 preseason win over the Seahawks' on Thursday.
Analysis: Evans got into the game after both Khalil Herbert and Trestan Ebner saw action. At that point, Evans and Ebner rotated series until Ebner left with an ankle injury. Evans saw work as late as the fourth quarter. He had his best production when seeing four straight carries that resulted in the Bears moving the chains. He'll likely remain in a battle with Evans for the No. 3 running back role.

Sees significant work
Evans rushed seven times for 20 yards and caught three of six targets for six yards in the Bears' 19-14 win over the Chiefs on Sunday.
Analysis: Evans is primarily competing with sixth-round draft choice Trestan Ebner for the No. 3 running back role behind David Montgomery and Khalil Herbert. Although Evans saw a lot of work in the preseason opener, his production paled in comparison to Ebner's, who was effective as both a runner and receiver. The next two weeks could settle this training camp battle.

Battling for third-string role
Evans' running style fits the scheme the Bears are putting in place as he competes for a role behind David Montgomery and Khalil Herbert, Brendan Sugrue of USA Today reports.
Analysis: Evans' main competition for the third-string role is this year's sixth-round draft choice Trestan Ebner. However, when the Bears claimed Evans off waivers, they took on the last two years of his rookie deal. Although that's a small financial investment, it could indicate the team is hopeful he'll carve out a role on the roster. For fantasy, he would likely need Montgomery or Herbert to miss time while Evans earns a depth chart spot ahead of Ebner to have weekly fantasy value.

Claimed by Bears
The Bears have claimed Evans off waivers from the Titans.
Analysis: The 2020 third-rounder was waived by the Titans on Thursday, but now that he's been claimed by the Bears, Evans will look to secure a depth role in Chicago's backfield behind David Montgomery and Khalil Herbert, who remain under contract with the team in 2022. The Titans waived Evans on Thursday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: The 2020 third-rounder saw action in just one regular-season game last year before landing on IR with a knee issue. The 5-foot-10, 203-pounder will now look to catch on elsewhere as a depth running back. Meanwhile, the Titans will need to restock their backfield options behind Derrick Henry, with both D'Onta Foreman and Dontrell Hilliard poised to become unrestricted free agents.

Done for season
Evans (knee) was placed on IR on Friday and will miss the remainder of the season, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: Evans started the season on IR and missed the first six weeks due to his bothersome knee before suiting up in Week 7 against Kansas City. His knee evidently didn't feel right in that game, which is why the team has opted to shut Evans down again. Being placed on IR the second time means Evans will miss the remainder of the campaign, so receiving back Jeremy McNichols will go back to working as Derrick Henry's primary backup.

Limited by knee issue
Evans was a limited participant at Thursday's practice due to a knee injury, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: The 23-year-old made his season debut Week 7 against the Chiefs after missing the first six weeks of the year with the knee injury, and he's now back on the injury report. It's unclear if Evans aggravated that injury or if he's dealing with a new issue, but the fact he was still practicing in some capacity indicates it may not be a serious concern.

Eased into debut
Evans carried the ball twice for seven yards in Sunday's 27-3 win over Kansas City. He added two receptions for 11 yards.
Analysis: Evans was activated off injured reserve Saturday and played six offensive snaps. As expected, he worked as a backup to Derrick Henry, though he split second-string duties with Jeremy McNichols. So long as he is healthy, Henry will clearly maintain a heavy workload out of the backfield, though it's unclear whether Evans or McNichols will now serve as his primary backup.

Activated off IR
Evans (knee) was activated off injured reserve Saturday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: Evans will now slot in a backfield increasingly dominated by the impossibly successful Derrick Henry. Jeremy McNichols (ankle) has operated as the team's pass-catching back to begin the season, but he's played just 15 offensive snaps combined over the last two weeks and could yield that role to Evans given his struggles as of late.

Rejoins practice
Running backs coach Tony Dews indicated Tuesday that Evans (knee) took part in practice last week, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: Evans was designated to return from injured reserve last Wednesday and apparently got in some practice immediately. His 21-day window to be evaluated in practice has thus begun, by the end of which the team must decide to either activate him or keep him on injured reserve for the rest of the season. Assuming he returns, Evans figures to join the conversation alongside Jeremy McNichols for backup duties to Derrick Henry.

Designated to return from IR
The Titans designated Evans (knee) for a return from injured reserve Wednesday.
Analysis: Tennessee now has a 21-day window to evaluate Evans in practices before deciding whether to add him back to the 53-man roster or stash him on IR for the remainder of the season. Assuming he incurs no setbacks upon returning to practice, the 2020 third-round pick could challenge Jeremy McNichols for the top change-of-pace role behind undisputed top back Derrick Henry as soon as Sunday in Jacksonville.

Nearing return to practice
Coach Mike Vrabel is hopeful that Evans (knee) will be able to return to practice Wednesday, John Glennon of BroadwaySportsMedia.com reports.
Analysis: Evans has been on injured reserve since the start of the season due to a knee injury, but he's eligible to return as soon as he's cleared by the team's medical staff. Whether he'll be able to do so for Sunday's Week 5 matchup against Jacksonville remains to be seen, but practicing would be a significant step in his recovery.

Lands on IR
Evans (knee) has been placed on IR by the Titans.
Analysis: Evans, who had been dealing with a knee issue, will thus miss at least the first three games of the regular season. Now that he's unavailable to the team, at least early on, Mekhi Sargent's profile in the offense behind undisputed top back Derrick Henry should expand, while Jeremy McNichols remains on the reserve/COVID-19 list. In that context, we wouldn't be surprised to see Tennessee add backfield depth in short order as NFL rosters continue to shuffle in the wake of initial cut-downs.

Misses preseason finale
Evans (knee) didn't play in Saturday's preseason finale against the Bears, Mike Moraitis of USA Today reports.
Analysis: The running back still is bouncing back from a knee issue, and with Brian Hill (undisclosed) now on IR and Jeremy McNichols (undisclosed) on the reserve/COVID-19 list, the team's depth behind starter Derrick Henry currently is taxed. When healthy, Evans profiles as the Titans' No. 2 RB, though it's an assignment that doesn't carry much fantasy utility so long as Henry is available.

Misses Saturday's game
Evans (leg) didn't play in Saturday's preseason game against the Buccaneers, Steve Layman of newschannel5.com reports.
Analysis: Nor did top back Derrick Henry, which paved the way for Mekhi Sargent, Brian Hill and Jeremy McNichols to handle the team's rushing duties Saturday. Evans is penciled in as Henry's top backup, but he'll need to bounce back from what appears to be a knee or hamstring issue that has slowed him of late in order to fend off the challenges presented by Sargent, Hill and McNichols.

Considered day-to-day
Coach Mike Vrabel said Evans (knee) is day-to-day after his early exit from Friday's preseason win over Atlanta, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: Evans got the start and took four carries for 26 yards, working ahead of Jeremy McNichols, Brian Hill and Mekhi Sargent. The Titans then used McNichols and Sargent throughout the second quarter, followed by Hill and Sargent after halftime. Only Evans topped 3.6 YPC, though Sargent (16 carries for 58 yards) and Hill (12 for 43) did handle far more volume. Assuming the knee injury isn't serious, Evans remains the favorite for the No. 2 RB spot behind workhorse Derrick Henry. It's a job that…read more

Picks up knee injury
Evans is questionable to return to Friday's preseason game in Atlanta, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: Evans limped off the field late in the first quarter but not before taking four carries for 26 yards and gathering in his only target for two yards. He started for stud running back Derrick Henry, who clearly doesn't need reps during exhibition season, but Evans' opportunity may be short-lived. If Evans is unable to return, Brian Hill, Jeremy McNichols and Mekhi Sargent will be the RBs available to the Titans offense.

Getting starting nod Friday
Titans head coach Mike Vrabel relayed Wednesday that Evans will start Friday's preseason contest in Atlanta, John Glennon of BroadwaySportsMedia.com reports.
Analysis: With Derrick Henry not needing many, if any, preseason touches, Evans and the rest of the Titans backfield are poised for plenty of work in the team's three exhibitions. As a rookie third-rounder last season, Evans battled injuries and fumbles, averaging just 3.9 yards on 14 carries and hauling in two of four targets for 27 yards and one touchdown in five appearances.

Getting heavy workload
Evans has adjusted well to new wrinkles in the offense and has carried a big workload in camp, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: Evans was listed as the co-No. 2 running back on the team's initial depth chart. That was a strong vote of confidence for the second-year back and this report only reinforces that placement. Evans may find it difficult to fully surpass Brian Hill on the depth chart early on in the season, though he could be in a position to get some work behind Derrick Henry -- particularly in the passing game.

In competition for backup job
Evans was listed alongside Brian Hill as the Titans' second running back on the first official depth chart of the season, Gentry Estes of the Tennessean reports.
Analysis: Evans was expected to battle with Hill and Jeremy McNichols for the team's second running back job. That Evans is already listed ahead of McNichols is a significant step forward, as he was sidelined for large portions of his rookie campaign with hamstring and shoulder injuries. Of course, even if he wins the backup job, Evans will not see significant touches without an injury to Derrick Henry.

Pushing for backup job
Evans looked fast during spring practices and could earn a role in the Tennessee offense this season, Joe Rexrode of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The 2020 third-round pick was limited to five games and 16 touches as a rookie, with recurring hamstring injuries affecting his availability. Now healthy, Evans will challenge Jeremy McNichols for snaps on passing downs, while free-agent acquisition Brian Hill is the chief competition to spell bell cow Derrick Henry on early downs. Clear of shoulder injury
Evans (shoulder) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's wild-card round game against the Ravens after practicing fully Friday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: Evans was limited Wednesday and Thursday but shrugged off the injury Friday and should be good to go for Sunday's playoff game. Barring an injury to Derrick Henry, the rookie third-round pick will feature almost exclusively on special teams.

Limited in Wednesday's session
Evans was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday's estimated practice report with a shoulder injury, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Evans rarely sees the field on offense with Derrick Henry holding a near monopoly on the touches out of Tennessee's backfield, but the rookie third-round pick has carved out a sizable special-teams role heading into Sunday's wild-card round game against the Ravens. He played 17 special-teams snaps in the Week 17 win over the Texans, returning one kickoff for 16 yards.

Role on special teams continues
Evans did not record a rush or target in Week 17 against the Texans. He returned one kick for 16 yards.
Analysis: Evans was on the field for only one offensive snap and did not record a statistic. However, he did log 17 special teams snaps and continued to serve as the primary kick returner for the Titans. Evans had a quiet rookie year, in part due to a hamstring injury and also because of Derrick Henry's dominance. He'll look to make a special teams impact during the Titans' wild-card matchup with the Ravens.

Busy on kick returns
Evans ran the ball once for three yards, and he failed to haul in either of his targets during Sunday night's 40-14 loss to Green Bay. He also recorded 145 yards on six kickoff returns.
Analysis: Evans made his second game appearance since overcoming a hamstring injury and being removed from IR on Dec. 7. The third-round rookie enjoyed a significantly more effective outing in registering 57 scrimmage yards and a touchdown over 10 Week 15 touches against the Lions. Tennessee was pushed into a pass-heavy attack that mitigated Evans' involvement Sunday night, never leading in the game and falling behind by as many as 19 points in the second and third quarters.

Scores touchdown in garbage time
Evans carried the ball eight times for 30 yards in Week 15 against the Lions. He added two receptions for 27 yards and a touchdown.
Analysis: Evans was active for the first time since Week 5 after battling a hamstring injury that placed him on injured reserve. He was the only back besides Derrick Henry to earn a touch on the week, though he didn't get an offensive touch until early in the fourth quarter. Regarded as a strong pass-catching back coming out of Appalachian State, Evans excelled in that role to record his first professional touchdown.

The Titans activated Evans (hamstring) from injured reserve Monday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: Tennessee monitored Evans throughout almost the entirety of his 21-day practice window, but the team now will get the rookie third-round pick back in action to close out the regular season. D'Onta Foreman and Jeremy McNichols have both been solid in reserve work behind Derrick Henry in recent weeks, however, so Evans may not be an immediate lock for the No. 2 role.

Analysis: The Titans designated Evans for return from injured reserve Monday, giving him a 21-day window to be evaluated at practice. He can be officially moved to the active roster at any point in that span. Both Jeremy McNichols and D'Onta Foreman have been solid as depth options behind Derrick Henry in recent weeks, so Evans could face competition for touches once he's back on the field.

Analysis: Evans recorded 12 yards on two carries before exiting the game, showing impressive burst as a change-of-pace back. Analysis: Evans sat out the season opener due to this injury, but the rookie third-round pick will make his NFL debut Week 2 against the Jaguars if he can avoid a setback. Analysis: There's no indication of why Evans didn't practice Sunday, and it could simply be a maintenance day.
