Could be traded soon
The Jaguars' signing Wednesday of quarterback C.J. Beathard could set the stage for Minshew to be traded, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Moving on from Minshew would represent a downgrade for the backup quarterback spot, but potentially worthwhile for Jacksonville if it could get draft picks or a useful veteran player in exchange for the 24-year-old. With the team widely expected to draft Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence with the No. 1 overall pick in April's draft, it's hard to imagine Minshew having any objection to a trade.

Could be traded
It isn't clear Minshew has a future with the Jaguars, John Reid of The Florida Times-Union reports.
Analysis: Minshew went 1-7 as a starter in his second NFL season, though his passing stats -- 66.1 completion percentage, 6.9 YPA, 16:5 TD:INT -- show a degree of competence that wasn't matched by fellow Jaguars quarterbacks Mike Glennon and Jake Luton. The team is now expected to draft Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence, potentially leaving Minshew to compete with Luton for the backup job. The Jaguars figure to explore trade opportunities this offseason, so it's possible the 2019 sixth-round pick ends up on a…read more

Won't get Week 17 start
Head coach Doug Marrone said Wednesday that Minshew will remain the Jaguars' backup quarterback behind Mike Glennon for the team's Week 17 game in Indianapolis, John Oehser of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: When he met with the media Monday, Marrone left the door open for Minshew to supplant Glennon as the Jaguars' Week 17 starter, but the coach ultimately elected to maintain the status quo after reviewing the game film following Sunday's loss to the Bears. Minshew has outproduced Glennon from a statistic standpoint this season -- 66.1 percent completion rate, 6.9 yards per attempt, 16:5 TD:INT -- but the second-year signal-caller has put up a good chunk of his production in garbage time and…read more

Relegated to backup
Minshew will act as the team's backup Sunday against the Bears after it was announced Mike Glennon would start the contest, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Minshew's relatively solid surface numbers against the Ravens last week (75.9 completion percentage, two touchdowns to one turnover) masked what was a quietly toothless Jaguars offense albeit against a difficult matchup. It's not entirely surprising to see the team turn to Glennon as the starter after both quarterbacks split first-team reps throughout the week, but considering the veteran's track record as as a below-average starter at the professional level, it's hard to imagine much will…read more

Competing for Week 16 starting gig
Head coach Doug Marrone said Minshew and Mike Glennon will split first-team reps in practice this week before a decision is made on the Jaguars' starting quarterback for Sunday's game against the Bears, John Reid of The Florida Times-Union reports.
Analysis: Minshew took back the starting role after shining in relief of Glennon in the Week 14 loss to the Titans, but the former struggled mightily to move the offense for most of the day in last weekend's blowout loss to the Ravens. Though Minshew only turned the ball over once and finished with a 75.9 percent completion rate, 7.8 YPA and two touchdown passes, most of his production came in the second half during garbage time. As a result, Minshew will be forced to compete for his job once again, but…read more

Pads numbers in garbage time
Minshew completed 22 of 29 passes for 226 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions during Sunday's 40-14 loss at Baltimore. He also had two carries for nine yards and lost a fumble.
Analysis: The overall numbers don't look bad on the surface, but Jacksonville's offense was unable to get anything going until the second half with Baltimore already leading 26-0. Minshew should retain the starting gig heading into Week 16, though the matchup with the Bears doesn't figure to make things any easier, especially if tailback James Robinson (ankle) is forced to miss any time.

Back in starting seat
Coach Doug Marrone said Monday that Minshew will start Sunday's game in Baltimore, Mark Long of the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: Minshew entered last weekend's loss to the Titans in relief of Mike Glennon early in the second half, completing 18 of 31 pass attempts for 178 yards and one touchdown. The second-year signal-caller's performance has earned him the starting nod for Week 15, but he'll draw a tough matchup on the road in Baltimore.

Enters game in second half
Minshew completed 18 of 31 pass attempts for 178 yards and one touchdown in Week 14 against the Titans. He added two rushes for 22 yards.
Analysis: Minshew entered the game in relief of Mike Glennon, who was benched for poor performance. Minshew played nearly the entire second half and led the Jaguars to their only touchdown of the game. However, as has been typical, Minshew didn't look to push down the field, with his longest completion of the day going for 22 yards. It remains unclear whether Minshew or Glennon will be under center in Week 15 when the Jaguars take on the Ravens.

Healthy, but not starting
Head coach Doug Marrone said Wednesday that Minshew's sprained right thumb is "fine," but the second-year quarterback will serve as the backup quarterback to Mike Glennon in the Jaguars' Week 13 game in Minnesota, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Marrone noted that team trainers have informed him that Minshew will be a "full go" in practice Wednesday after his thumb injury prevented him from playing in each of the past four games, but the Jaguars will stick with Glennon at quarterback for now after he turned in a serviceable outing in his first start since 2017 in last week's two-point loss to the Browns. Not suiting up Sunday
Minshew (thumb) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Browns.
Analysis: Minshew was considered questionable for Sunday's contest but won't be available for the fourth straight contest due to the thumb issues. Even if he suited up, the 24-year-old wasn't yet cleared to start and would have served as the backup to Mike Glennon. Instead, Jake Luton will operate as Jacksonville's No. 2 quarterback versus Cleveland. Minshew's return to practice this week potentially puts him in good position to reclaim the starting role against the Vikings next Sunday.

Questionable for Sunday
Minshew (thumb) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Browns, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports.
Analysis: Coach Doug Marrone said earlier this week the 24-year-old won't be ready to handle starting duties this weekend, but he could be available to serve in the backup role to Mike Glennon. Minshew returned to practice as a limited participant this week and was ramping up his throwing, so if all goes well he could return to start at Minnesota next week. Jake Luton is primed to serve as Jacksonville's No. 2 quarterback Sunday should Minshew be unavailable.

Not ready for starting duties
Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone said Wednesday that Minshew (thumb) won't be ready to handle starting duties this weekend versus the Browns, though the 24-year-old could serve as a backup to Mike Glennon, Mark Long of the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: Minshew has been dealing with multiple fractures and a sprained ligament to the thumb on his throwing hand for nearly a month, missing three games along the way. He at least took a step forward last week by practicing in a limited fashion Wednesday through Friday and carrying a questionable tag into the weekend, but he was ultimately inactive for the Jaguars' 27-3 loss to the Steelers. Unlikely to play Week 11
Minshew (thumb), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Steelers, isn't expected to be available to play, John Oesher of the Jaguars' official site reports.
Analysis: After sitting out Jacksonville's last two games with multiple fractures and a sprained ligament to his right thumb, Minshew was cleared to practice on a limited basis this week. While coach Doug Marrone indicated that while Minshew was gradually able to throw a little more each day this week, the quarterback still isn't 100 percent. Won't return Week 11
Coach Doug Marrone said Monday that Minshew won't be available to face the Steelers but may "throw a little" this week, John Shipley of SI.com reports.
Analysis: Minshew looks set to miss his third straight game while working to recover from multiple fractures and a sprained ligament in his thumb, but it would at least represent a notable step forward if he's cleared to resume throwing. Head coach Doug Marrone hinted Wednesday that Minshew may not resume duties as the Jaguars' starting quarterback once he recovers from his right thumb injury, John Shipley of SI.com reports.
Analysis: Minshew hasn't been cleared to throw since being diagnosed Oct. 29 with multiple fractures and a sprained ligament in his thumb, so he'll be sidelined for a second straight game Sunday in Green Bay. In Minshew's stead, Luton will pick up another start after turning in a respectable outing in his NFL debut Week 9, completing 26 of 38 attempts for 304 yards, one touchdown and one interception while adding a 13-yard touchdown run in the Jaguars' 27-25 loss to the Texans. Analysis: Prior to the game, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Minshew's job security was thinning, and he didn't exactly help his cause with this Week 7 performance. While he tossed multiple touchdowns for the fifth time and avoided throwing a pick for the third occasion in seven games, he matched his season low in passing yards, and his 51.9 completion percentage stands alone as his worst in a single contest on the campaign. Minshew is in danger of losing Jacksonville's starting quarterback job if he continues to struggle in Sunday's game against the Chargers, multiple sources tell Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
Analysis: While neither of the other two signal-callers on the 53-man roster (Mike Glennon and Jake Luton) represent long-term solutions behind center, coach Doug Marrone could be willing to make a change at the position if Minshew is unable to help Jacksonville end its five-game losing streak Sunday. Two turnovers in blowout loss
Minshew completed 25 of 44 pass attempts for 243 yards, one touchdown, one interception and a lost fumble in Week 6 against the Lions. He also added three rushes for 14 yards and another score.
Analysis: After a dismal start to the game, Minshew salvaged his day in the second half by finding the end zone twice. His first score came on the ground when he scrambled out of the pocket and evaded a defender for a six-yard rushing touchdown. Tops 300 yards
Minshew completed 31 of 49 pass attempts for 301 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 5 against Houston. He also chipped in 18 yards on four rushes.
Analysis: Minshew attempted a season-high 49 passes, but he wasn't particularly efficient by averaging just 6.1 yards per attempt. His longest completion of the day was a 51-yard deep shot to Chris Conley, though he also connected on a pair of completions that went for more than 15 yards with Laviska Shenault. Analysis: After throwing an interception on the opening drive, Minshew made amends with an 11-yard touchdown to DJ Chark to grab a 7-3 lead late in the first quarter. Unfortunately for the Jaguars, they didn't get back into the end zone again until Minshew's two-yard score to Chark with 6:14 left in the game. Minshew completed 30 of 42 passes for 275 yards with no touchdowns and one interception in the Jaguars' 31-13 loss to the Dolphins on Thursday. He also rushed three times for 22 yards and lost a fumble.
Analysis: Minshew had one of the better stat lines you'll see for a quarterback on the wrong end of an 18-point decision. The second-year gunslinger once again displayed above-average accuracy while averaging 6.5 yards per attempt, but he found himself frequently under duress while taking four sacks and 10 hits overall. Analysis: The 24-year-old was near perfect in the season-opening win against the Colts and found plenty of success through the air versus the Titans, though he did have the two giveaways Sunday. Minshew threw two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter to overcome a 13-point deficit, but Tennessee kicked a late field goal to take a late lead and Minshew subsequently threw a fourth-down interception with less than a minute left. However, when he took to the air, he dissected the opposing secondary with only one of his attempts falling incomplete. He also delivered a trio of touchdowns, coming from six, 15 and 22 yards. Minshew burst onto the scene as a rookie and put together an impressively competent season, highlighted by a 21:6 TD:INT. Minshew won't enter the 2020 offseason as the Jaguars' starting quarterback, John Reid of The Florida Times-Union reports.
Analysis: This shouldn't come as a major surprise after Minshew's inconsistencies to end the season. Analysis: Minshew provided one of Week 17's biggest surprises when you consider he entered the game nursing an injured shoulder while also coming off of his worst performance of the season last week against Atlanta (13 of 31 for 181 yards). With the Jaguars offering no indication that Minshew experienced a setback coming out of that contest, he'll likely take every rep in the Jaguars' final practice of Week 17 and make his 12th start of the season in the finale versus the Colts.

Limited on first practice report
Minshew (shoulder) was listed as a limited participant on Wednesday's estimated practice report.
Analysis: Minshew managed to suit up without an injury designation Week 16 despite initially practicing in a limited fashion due to the same issue. If things progress as usual, he'll suit up Sunday against the Colts and draw the start at quarterback. Since replacing Nick Foles as Jacksonville's top option under center in Week 14, Minshew has completed 55.7 percent of his throws for 5.6 yards per attempt and a 4:0 TD:INT.

Inefficient in loss
Minshew completed 13 of 31 passes for 181 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 24-12 loss to Atlanta. He added 36 yards on seven carries.
Analysis: Minshew was off all game but tried to lead a comeback in the fourth quarter down by multiple scores, connecting with Chris Conley on a 42-yard bomb that cut the lead to 12. The outcome may have been different had DJ Chark held onto a would-be touchdown midway through the quarter. The Minshew Magic has worn off over the past month as the rookie passer has averaged just 172.8 passing yards per game over his last four contests and has accounted for multiple touchdowns in just one of those games.…read more

Cleared for Week 16
Minshew (shoulder) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Atlanta.
Analysis: The rookie quarterback was limited at practice Wednesday and Thursday with the right shoulder issue, but he was able to finish the week with a full practice. Minshew is set to receive his 11th start of the season Sunday against the Falcons, who are allowing 253.7 yards per game through the air and a 99.5 opponent QB rating.

Logs another limited practice
Minshew (right shoulder) remained limited at practice Thursday.
Analysis: We'll revisit Minshew's status Friday, but we'd expect him to be out there Sunday against the Falcons. The Jaguars' final Week 16 injury report will reveal whether the QB heads into the weekend listed as questionable or is removed from the team's injury report altogether.

Limited at practice
Minshew was limited at practice Wednesday due to a right shoulder injury.
Analysis: So far there's nothing to suggest that Minshew -- who helped the Jaguars snap a five-game losing streak in the Week 15 win over the Raiders -- is in any danger of missing Sunday's game against the Falcons. With that in mind, unless it's revealed that Minshew tweaked his shoulder during Wednesday's practice, his limitations to begin Week 16 are more than likely maintenance-related.

Leads comeback win in Oakland
Minshew completed 17 of 29 passes for 201 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 20-16 win over the Raiders. He also gained 27 rushing yards on five carries.
Analysis: The Jaguars didn't score a TD through the first three quarters, but Minshew played hero by finding Chris Conley twice in the end zone over the final 5:15 to rally the club from a 16-6 deficit. While the rookie QB hasn't been particularly sharp since regaining the starting job, he does have a 3:0 TD:INT over the last two games. Minshew and the Jacksonville passing game get a favorable matchup in Week 16 on the road against the Falcons.

Mediocre in return to top job
Minshew completed 24 of 37 passes for 162 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in the Jaguars' 45-10 loss to the Chargers on Sunday. He also rushed six times for 31 yards.
Analysis: While Minshew's final numbers weren't awful on the surface, the fact the Jaguars were down 31-3 before he facilitated Jacksonville's only touchdown of the day with a 12-yard toss to Nick O'Leary tells the tale of what kind of day it was. The rookie was making his return to the top job after ceding it for two games, but this performance wasn't necessarily any better than what the displaced Nick Foles was capable of providing. Ultimately, it appears the Jaguars have serious concerns on the…read more

Back as starting QB
Minshew will return as the Jaguars' starting quarterback Sunday against the Chargers, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Taking over for a futile Nick Foles this past Sunday versus the Buccaneers, Minshew fared slightly better during the 28-11 loss. Overall this season, Minshew has completed 61 percent of his passes, averaged 243.2 yards per game and posted a 14:5 TD:INT in 10 appearances.

Serviceable in relief
Minshew played the second half of the Jaguars' 28-11 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday in relief of Nick Foles (coach's decision) and completed 16 of 27 passes for 147 yards with one touchdown and one interception. He also rushed twice for eight yards and had a fumble, but it was recovered by the offense.
Analysis: Minshew's numbers weren't anything to write home about, but they were exponentially better than Foles', who threw for just 93 yards and completed 50.0 percent of his throws in the first two quarters. The rookie certainly has proved capable of providing a spark in the past, however, and with Jacksonville at 4-8, it's certainly possible coach Doug Marrone opts to give Minshew another run with the starting job versus the Chargers in Week 14.

Takes over for Foles
Minshew replaced Nick Foles at quarterback to start the second half Sunday against the Buccaneers.
Analysis: The Jaguars entered halftime trailing 25-0 as Foles committed three first-half turnovers, leading the team to make a change. Jacksonville has been outscored 100-33 in 10 quarters since Foles reclaimed the starting job Week 11, so the team will have a decision to make at quarterback entering Week 14. Minshew can stake his claim to the starting job with a quality showing off the bench.

Headed back to bench
Minshew will return to the backup quarterback role following the Jaguars' Week 10 bye after coach Doug Marrone announced Tuesday that Nick Foles (collarbone) would return from injured reserve and reclaim the starting role Nov. 17 against the Colts, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports.
Analysis: Minshew performed admirably over the first nine games of the 2019 campaign, completing 61.2 percent of his passes for 2,285 yards and a 13:4 TD:INT. The rookie picked a poor time to have the worst outing of his young career in Sunday's loss to the Texans, as his four-turnover performance was likely enough to convince Marrone to hand the job back over to Foles, who inked a four-year, $88 million deal this offseason. While Minshew presumably won't play in the immediate future, he at least proved…read more

QB decision looming
Coach Doug Marrone will decide during the Jaguars' Week 10 bye whether Minshew or Nick Foles (collarbone) will work as the team's starting quarterback, Grant Gordon of NFL.com reports.
Analysis: The rookie quarterback has played exceptionally well since Foles fractured his left clavicle in the season opener, but he was unable to cement his starting role in Sunday's 26-3 loss to the Texans. Minshew had his worst outing of the season, completing 27 of 47 passes for 309 yards with two interceptions and two lost fumbles, with all four turnovers coming in the fourth quarter. The rookie-sixth round pick has played well enough this season to justify keeping him as the starter, but his fumble…read more

Lays egg overseas
Minshew completed 27 of 47 passes for 309 yards and two interceptions in Sunday's 26-3 loss to the Texans in London. He also rushed four times for 34 yards and lost two fumbles.
Analysis: Don't let the garbage time yardage fool you -- this was an ugly performance for Minshew, as he had more turnovers (four) than his team scored points (three). Per Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports, Nick Foles is set to be taken off injured reserve and return from his fractured clavicle after Jacksonville's Week 10 bye, at which point coach Doug Marrone will have to decide whether to stick with the rookie under center or turn the offense back over to the high-priced free-agent pickup.
