Wraps up inconsistent campaign
Pollard gained 15 rushing yards on five carries and caught three of five targets for 18 yards in Sunday's loss to the Giants.
Analysis: The second-year back put together a 2020 season much like his rookie campaign, as he showed occasional flashes of his upside -- highlighted by his 132 yards from scrimmage and two TDs in Week 15 -- but he mostly saw limited work behind Ezekiel Elliott. Pollard finished the season with 627 total yards (a slight improvement on 2019) and five total touchdowns. With Elliott still under contract and carrying a sizable cap hit, the backfield depth chart isn't likely to change much in Dallas in 2021,…read more

Does little in Sunday's rout
Pollard carried the ball nine times for 12 yards and caught one of two targets for eight yards in Sunday's win over the Eagles.
Analysis: After his 132-yard, two-TD effort Week 15, Pollard seemed poised to take on a bigger role in the Cowboys backfield, even with Ezekiel Elliott returning to action. Instead, the second-year RB faded back into the woodwork. Pollard likely will see a similar workload again Week 17 against the Giants, and while he's shown his upside he'll be a risky fantasy option.

Likely back to No. 2 role
Pollard is expected to serve as the Cowboys' No. 2 running back Sunday against the Eagles with Ezekiel Elliott (calf) set to play after sitting out the Week 15 win over the 49ers, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: While Elliott sat out the Week 15 contest, Pollard thrived in his first career start, carrying 12 times for 69 yards and two touchdowns and hauling in six of nine targets for 63 yards. Though Elliott -- who is listed as questionable for the contest -- has averaged a career-worst 3.9 yards per carry this season and presumably isn't 100 percent while he works back from the bruised calf, the massive six-year, $90 million contract extension he signed last week should continue to give him the edge…read more

Stars in two-TD effort
Pollard carried 12 times for 69 yards and two touchdowns while adding six receptions (on nine targets) for 63 yards during Sunday's 41-33 win over the 49ers.
Analysis: Pollard stepped into a featured role with Ezekiel Elliott (calf) ruled out and recorded a new career high in touches. He scored a short rushing touchdown early on and was bottled up on the ground for the most part until he broke free for a 40-yard score in the fourth quarter. Additionally, Pollard led the team in targets and receptions as his receiving prowess helped him pile up 132 scrimmage yards. It is unclear if the team plans to hold Elliott out over the final two games, but if so, Pollard…read more

Set to lead backfield
Pollard is in line to lead the Cowboys backfield after Ezekiel Elliott was ruled inactive Sunday against the 49ers, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: A 2019 fourth-round pick, Pollard has earned double-digit touches in seven of his 28 career contests. In those appearances, he's averaged 13.3 touches for 72.3 yards from scrimmage per game while scoring three touchdowns. Aside from Pollard, the other candidates for touches at running back are Rico Dowdle and Sewo Olonilua.

Earns significant workload
Pollard carried the ball 11 times for 39 yards in Week 14 against the Bengals. He added two receptions for nine yards and a touchdown.
Analysis: Pollard had a near even workload with workhorse Ezekiel Elliott. That didn't translate into much production until late in the game, however, when he found the end zone on a seven-yard pass from Andy Dalton. Elliot was nursing a calf injury leading up to the Week 14 matchup, which may have led to the reduced workload. His availability to practice leading up to the team's Week 15 showdown with the 49ers could hint at Pollard's future workload.

Makes impact in return game
Pollard carried the ball eight times for 22 yards and caught his only target for six yards in Tuesday's 34-17 loss to the Ravens. He also gained 126 yards on four kickoff returns.
Analysis: While he failed to reach double-digit touches on offense for the third straight contest and the 10th time in 12 games this season, Pollard contributed as a return man, and his 66-yard runback to Baltimore's 28-yard line set up Dallas' first touchdown of the night. As long as Ezekiel Elliott is healthy, however, Pollard's role on offense will remain limited.

Little usage in Thanksgiving loss
Pollard carried the ball four times for 12 yards and caught both his targets for 10 yards in Thursday's loss to Washington.
Analysis: Despite another fumble from Ezekiel Elliott, Pollard didn't see much action in the Thanksgiving Day rout, continuing a trend from last week -- after getting at least eight touches in five straight games prior to the Cowboys' bye, Pollard has only 11 touches total in the last two contests. As long as Dallas has a shot at winning their division, Elliot's workload isn't likely to decline, leaving Pollard's usage dependent on game flow rather than his abilities.

Gets into end zone Sunday
Pollard carried the ball five times for 60 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 31-28 win over the Vikings.
Analysis: The lead changed hands four times in the fourth quarter, with Pollard's 42-yard TD scamper supplying one of the switches. In addition to scoring for the first time since Week 4, the Cowboys' No. 2 RB also set a new season high for rushing yards, giving him plenty of momentum heading into a Thanksgiving clash with Washington.

Sees usual role Sunday
Pollard carried the ball nine times for 57 yards and caught one of two targets for one yard in Sunday's 24-19 loss to the Steelers.
Analysis: Ezekiel Elliott was a game-time decision Sunday due to a minor hamstring strain, opening up the possibility of an increased role for Pollard, but Elliott wound up getting 20 touches and his backup saw his usual volume -- Pollard has gotten 8-12 touches in each of the last five games. The second-year back did set a season high in rushing yards against Pittsburgh, but with the Cowboys headed into their bye week, Elliott should be at 100 percent for Week 11's clash with the Vikings, closing the…read more

Chance for increased role Sunday
Pollard could have an increased workload Sunday against the Steelers if Ezekiel Elliott (hamstring) has trouble in his pregame workout, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Elliott has been limited at practice all week, creating some question about his availability Sunday. Though the Cowboys still anticipate Elliott playing Week 9, he could see a reduction in his snap and touch counts while he manages the hamstring injury. If that's the case, Pollard would likely see his role in the Dallas offense grow. Pollard set season highs in rushing yards (40) and receiving yards (24) during last week's loss to the Eagles.

Season high in total yards
Pollard carried the ball seven times for 40 yards and caught both his targets for 24 yards in Sunday's loss to the Eagles.
Analysis: The Cowboys offense had little success with seventh-round rookie Ben DiNucci under center, but Pollard was able to muster season highs in rushing yards and yards from scrimmage from his nine touches. Andy Dalton (concussion) is expected back at quarterback for Week 9, but Pollard's value, and the outlook for the Dallas offense as a whole, will remain low.

Held in check Sunday
Pollard carried the ball eight times for 16 yards and caught his only target for six yards in Sunday's 25-3 loss to Washington.
Analysis: The Cowboys' running game had little success working behind a patchwork offensive line, especially after Andy Dalton (concussion) left the game and was replaced by rookie Ben DiNucci, and Pollard wasn't able to do much with his reps. The second-year back has seen at least eight touches in each of the last three games, but the outlook for the Dallas offense as a whole is bleak heading into Week 8's road clash with the Eagles.

Handles 10 carries in MNF blowout
Pollard registered 31 rushing yards on 10 carries, also corralling two of his four targets for nine receiving yards during Monday's 38-10 loss to Arizona.
Analysis: After Ezekiel Elliott lost two fumbles in a game for the first time in his NFL career, Pollard handled seven of the Cowboys' final 11 RB touches to close out the first half. Pollard's 12 offensive touches on the night outpaced his previous season high of eight, but the uptick in involvement can largely be attributed to game script, as Dallas fell into a 28-3 hole by the midpoint of the third quarter. Elliott is expected to garner a higher proportion of the RB workload next week in what figures…read more

Eight touches in Sunday's win
Pollard carried the ball six times for 30 yards and caught two of three targets for two yards in Sunday's win over the Giants.
Analysis: The eight touches were a season high for the Cowboys' No. 2 running back, although Pollard made little impact with them. The Dallas offense could look very different Week 6 with Dak Prescott (ankle) lost for the season, and if more emphasis is put on the ground game, Pollard could start to see 8-10 touches per game on a more consistent basis.

Finds end zone in loss
Pollard carried the ball three times for 16 yards and a touchdown and caught one of two targets for 16 yards in Sunday's loss to the Browns.
Analysis: The 32 scrimmage yards tied his season high, while the TD was his first of 2020. Ezekiel Elliott continues to see the bulk of the work in the Dallas backfield, but his recent difficulty holding onto the ball -- both in terms of dropped passes and fumbles -- could open the door for Pollard to get more touches going forward.

Not seeing work
Pollard did not receive a carry and caught his only target for a five-yard loss in Sunday's 38-31 defeat at the hands of the Seahawks.
Analysis: Ezekiel Elliott did not have a good game, committing numerous drops, slipping in his own end zone for a safety, and averaging only 2.4 yards a carry, but even in those circumstances Pollard didn't get a chance to make an impact. It seems as though it will take an injury to Elliott for the Cowboys' No. 2 running back to have any kind of fantasy value.

Just three touches Sunday
Pollard rushed for six yards on two carries and caught his only target for three yards in Sunday's comeback win over the Falcons.
Analysis: Ezekiel Elliott once again saw a heavy workload with 28 touches, leaving little action left over for Pollard aside from his duties on kickoffs, which produced 106 yards on five returns. The second-year back will need to bide his time and wait for a game with a more favorable script before getting a chance to make an impact.

Limited touches in loss
Pollard gained 10 yards on two carries and caught two of three targets for 22 yards in Sunday's loss to the Rams.
Analysis: Ezekiel Elliott logged 22 totes and three catches on four targets, leaving little work left over for Pollard. The second-year back did pick up 48 yards on two kickoff returns, but his role in the offense could be minimal this year unless Elliott is injured, or game flow allows Pollard some garbage-time touches.

Could have bigger role?
Coach Mike McCarthy said he won't discuss his usage of Pollard and Ezekiel Elliott in the backfield, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: It seems reporters were probing McCarthy about the possibility of Pollard taking on a larger role in his second pro season. It would be a reasonable plan, especially on passing downs, but there's no doubt Elliott will dominate the carries as long as he's healthy. Elliott mentioned that pass catching was his main focus this offseason, perhaps cognizant that he could be in danger of losing some of that work to Pollard. The 2019 fourth-round pick was limited to 15-107-1 on 20 targets as a rookie,…read more

Flashes upside as rookie
Pollard finished the 2019 season with 86 carries for 455 yards and two touchdowns while catching 15 of 20 targets for 107 receiving yards and an additional score.
Analysis: He also chipped in 245 yards on kickoff returns for good measure. Ezekiel Elliott's preseason holdout created a small window this fall in which it looked like the 2019 fourth-round pick could be the Cowboys' No. 1 running back, and Pollard gave glimpses of what that might have looked like during two huge performances against the Dolphins in Week 3 and the Rams in Week 15. In fact, 51.4 percent of Pollard's rushing yards on the year came in those two games. With Elliott and his giant contract…read more

Loses crucial fumble
Pollard carried the ball twice for zero yards, returned two kicks for 41 yards and lost a fumble during Sunday's loss to the Eagles.
Analysis: Pollard's fumble during the third quarter ended a 10-play drive for the Cowboys, and he didn't touch the ball again on offense. The 22-year-old had 12 rushes for 131 yards and one touchdown Week 15, illustrating his volatility as a low-volume fantasy option.

Surprising eruption for Dallas
Pollard carried the ball 12 times for 131 yards and a touchdown and caught both his targets for 12 yards in Sunday's 44-21 win over the Rams.
Analysis: With Dallas leading 28-7 at halftime, Pollard saw increased opportunities in the second half and made the most of them, breaking off a 44-yard TD scamper in the fourth quarter for the Cowboys' final points. The rookie RB topped the century mark for the second time this season, and both times he's done it while Ezekiel Elliott was also compiling triple-digit rushing yards (the other game being Week 3's win over Miami). Back to full participation
Pollard (ankle) practiced fully Thursday, David Helman of the Cowboys' official site reports.
Analysis: Pollard opened the week with a cap on his reps, but his ability to handle every rep Thursday paves the way for him to return to action Sunday against the Rams following a one-game absence. Working behind Ezekiel Elliott, Pollard likely is in line for the four touches per game he received in the nine games prior to his Week 14 DNP.

Practices in limited fashion
Pollard (ankle) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Pollard sat out the Week 14 loss to the Bears due to an ankle injury but appears to be trending in the right direction for Sunday's tilt against the Rams. The rookie fourth-round pick will have two more opportunities to increase his practice activity and avoid an injury tag entirely for Week 15. If he's indeed cleared to play this weekend, Pollard will reprise his usual backup role behind Ezekiel Elliott.

Likely to return Week 15
Coach Jason Garrett said Pollard (ankle) "should be able to play" in the Cowboys' next game Dec. 15 against the Rams, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: After failing to practice Tuesday and Wednesday due to an ankle issue, Pollard didn't suit up Thursday in Chicago, leaving the backfield solely in the hands of starter Ezekiel Elliott. It was notable that fullback Jamize Olawale didn't get a single carry and was targeted just once on his 11 offensive snaps, despite the potential opportunity at hand. If Pollard returns to action Week 15, he likely will be afforded his typical handful of touches.

Not available Thursday
Pollard (ankle) is listed as inactive Thursday at Chicago, David Helman of the Cowboys' official site reports.
Analysis: Pollard ended Week 14 prep in a precarious position, being held out Tuesday and Wednesday due to an ankle injury. Despite the Cowboys not bolstering the backfield prior to kickoff, the team has opted to keep Pollard in street clothes. As a result, FB Jamize Olawale is the only back available to the offense aside from workhorse Ezekiel Elliott.

Status in question for Thursday
Pollard (ankle) is listed as questionable for Thursday's game in Chicago, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Pollard didn't make an appearance on the Cowboys' Week 14 injury report until Tuesday, capping it with back-to-back absences from practice. After Ezekiel Elliott, fullback Jamize Olawale is the only other backfield option on the Cowboys' 53-man roster, so the team would show its hand with Pollard if it makes an addition to the backfield before Thursday's kickoff.

Added to injury report
Pollard (ankle) didn't practice Tuesday, Calvin Watkins of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Analysis: Pollard was added to the Cowboys' Week 14 injury report Tuesday, so his status for Thursday's game against the Bears will be worth monitoring. Pollard remains firmly behind Ezekiel Elliott on the Cowboys' running back depth chart, which limits his fantasy ceiling, but he does remain useful as an insurance policy in the event that Elliott suffers an injury down the stretch.

Can't do much in rain
Pollard carried the ball four times for 19 yards and caught three of four targets for nine yards in Sunday's loss to the Patriots.
Analysis: The weather was miserable in Foxborough, and while Pollard saw his highest touch volume since he got eight carries Week 7 against the Eagles, the rookie wasn't able to turn them into much yardage. With his role increasing, however, Pollard could have some big-play potential in Week 13's home tilt against the Bills.

Scores first receiving TD
Pollard carried the ball twice for 12 yards and caught all four of his targets for 44 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's win over the Lions. He also added a two-point conversion.
Analysis: The rookie running back had his best game yet as a pass catcher and topped 50 scrimmage yards for the first time since his huge Week 3 performance against Miami. Pollard remains firmly behind Ezekiel Elliott on the depth chart, but if offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is committed to getting the dynamic back more touches, Pollard could have deep-league value down the stretch.

Barely involved in Sunday's loss
Pollard lost four yards on his only carry in Sunday's loss to the Vikings.
Analysis: The rookie RB saw only three snaps on offense, a somewhat surprising number given how little success Ezekiel Elliott was having. Since his huge performance against Miami in Week 3, Pollard hasn't topped 30 scrimmage yards in a game, and his only fantasy utility at this point is as Elliott's handcuff.

Involved early in win
Polland carried the ball three times for 21 yards and caught one of three targets for nine yards in Monday's win over the Giants.
Analysis: Surprisingly, the Cowboys' No. 2 RB saw some early red-zone touches rather than being used later in the game to give Ezekiel Elliott a breather, but after Pollard dropped a screen pass that could have resulted in a TD, he was mostly relegated to the bench once again. The rookie now has 230 rushing yards with an impressive 4.8 YPC and one TD on the year, while catching five of seven targets for 37 yards.
