Suspended for Week 15
The Ravens announced Wednesday that Johnson has been suspended for the team's Week 15 game against the Giants for conduct detrimental to the team.
Analysis: General manager Eric DeCosta said in a statement that the decision to suspend Johnson stemmed from the receiver's refusal to enter the game in last Sunday's 24-19 loss to the Eagles. Since being acquired from the Panthers in late October, Johnson has played a total of 39 offensive snaps and has just one catch for six yards across five contests with Baltimore. Tylan Wallace has even leapfrogged Johnson on the depth chart as the team's No. 4 receiver, and the suspension likely won't help…read more

Plays zero snaps in Week 13
Johnson played zero offensive snaps in the Ravens' loss to the Eagles on Sunday.
Analysis: Acquired from the Panthers ahead of the trade deadline, Johnson played 17 offensive snaps in his Week 9 debut for the Ravens. In four games since, Johnson has played a total of 22 snaps on offense. He has one catch for six yards across five games with his new team. Speaking with the media Monday, coach John Harbaugh hinted at something going on behind the scenes when asked about Johnson's lack of playing time, via Jamison Hensley of ESPN.com, saying, "At this time, I'm going to have to wait.…read more

Targeted once in Week 12
Johnson failed to secure his lone target in Monday's 30-23 win over the Chargers.
Analysis: Johnson continued to be an afterthought in the Ravens offensive attack Monday, playing just six of the Ravens 65 offensive snaps. The veteran wideout has been held without a catch in three of his four games with the Ravens while playing just 37 total offensive snaps over that stretch. Johnson remains extremely difficult to trust for fantasy purposes as he continues to acclimate to Baltimore's offense. The Ravens will host the Eagles in Week 13.

Uneventful return to Pittsburgh
Johnson was held without a catch on two targets Sunday against the Steelers.
Analysis: It was not an eventful homecoming for Johnson after spending the first five seasons of his career in Pittsburgh. He played 11 snaps and drew a pair of targets but failed to come down with either of them. Through three games with the Ravens, Johnson has one catch for six yards on 32 snaps and four targets. Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman and Nelson Agholor remain the primary wide receivers for the Ravens, but there's a chance Johnson begins displacing Agholor once he gets more acclimated with the…read more

Plays five snaps
Johnson caught one of two targets for a six-yard gain in Thursday's 35-34 win over the Bengals.
Analysis: Johnson's only catch in his second game for Baltimore was a short gain on which he was unable to get out of bounds right before halftime. He played just five snaps (eight percent), putting him behind fellow Ravens wide receivers Zay Flowers (83 percent), Rashod Bateman (78 percent), Nelson Agholor (49 percent) and Tylan Wallace (19 percent). Johnson's role should grow at least some in the coming weeks, but it didn't help his cause to see both Bateman (6-54-1) and Wallace (3-115-1) playing huge…read more

Not targeted in debut
Johnson went without a target in Sunday's 41-10 win over the Broncos.
Analysis: Johnson was a complete non-factor in his first game with the Ravens, as the veteran wideout played just 17 of Baltimore's 57 offensive snaps in the contest. His lack of involvement wasn't a huge surprise, as head coach John Harbaugh said heading into the game that Johnson would have a light role in his season debut after being acquired from the Panthers just days prior. Going forward, the 28-year-old should become a key contributor in Baltimore's passing attack once he becomes more acclimated…read more

Light role expected in debut
Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said that he expects Johnson to play about 10-to-15 snaps in Sunday's game against the Broncos, Tracy Wolfson of CBS Sports reports.
Analysis: Harbaugh noted that Johnson is still familiarizing himself with the new playbook after the Ravens acquired him from the Panthers on Tuesday, so the veteran wideout won't be handed a full role right off the bat in his team debut. Eventually, Harbaugh envisions Johnson providing a field-stretching weapon who's capable of burnishing the depth at receiver behind starters Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman. Johnson should eventually settle into a regular spot alongside Flowers and Bateman in…read more

Not on injury report
Johnson (ribs) was a full practice participant Wednesday, Ryan Mink of the Ravens' official site reports.
Analysis: Johnson missed his final game as a member of the Panthers this past weekend due to the rib injury, but after having been traded from Carolina to Baltimore on Tuesday, he's not listed on the Ravens' Week 9 injury report. The wideout is thus in a position to play Sunday against Denver, but with limited time to absorb the playbook, he may not be in store for a heavy snap count in his Ravens debut. Bound for Baltimore
The Ravens acquired Johnson (ribs) and a 2025 sixth-round draft pick from the Panthers on Tuesday in exchange for a 2025 fifth-round draft pick, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Baltimore will get a big upgrade to its receiver room at the modest cost of a one-round pick downgrade. Carolina is also expected to cover a portion of the salary remaining on the 28-year-old wideout's expiring contract, per Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic. After the Panthers acquired Johnson from the Steelers in March, he had been serving as the team's No. 1 wideout, compiling a 30-357-3 receiving line on 58 targets. Ruled out for Week 8
Johnson (ribs) is ruled out for Sunday's game against the Broncos, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.
Analysis: Johnson missed a trio of practices leading up to Week 8 action, and despite saying Thursday that he believed he'd be available versus Denver, the No. 1 wideout officially will be sidelined. Adam Thielen (IR, hamstring), who returned to practice this week, also has been ruled out, while second-year quarterback Bryce Young will start. That will leave Xavier Legette, Jalen Coker, David Moore and Jonathan Mingo as the Panthers' top available wide receivers Sunday, with Johnson's next chance to take…read more

Tending to rib injury
Johnson didn't practice Thursday due to a rib injury, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.
Analysis: Johnson was listed as a non-participant Wednesday for non-injury-related/rest reasons in addition to the rib issue, but the Panthers' latest practice reports attributes his absence Thursday only to the injury. He'll still have another chance to log some practice reps before the Panthers potentially make a decision on his availability for Sunday's game at Denver. For his part, Johnson said after Thursday's practice that he believes he'll be ready to play this weekend, per David Newton of…read more

Held to one catch
Johnson recorded one catch on three targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 40-7 loss to the Commanders.
Analysis: The Carolina offense had an abysmal performance overall, as Ja'Tavion Sanders was the only pass catcher to record more than two receptions. Despite putting up big numbers in most weeks with Andy Dalton under center, Johnson couldn't overcome his surroundings Sunday. Johnson should be safe for volume in most weeks, but given the volatile nature of the Panthers' offense, these types of showings will likely continue occasionally moving forward.

Active as expected Sunday
Johnson (ankle) is active for Sunday's Week 7 matchup against the Commanders, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: The oft-injured veteran wideout was said to be trending toward active status in reports issued earlier in the weekend, and Johnson's availability is now confirmed. As such, Johnson will continue to operate as the top on-paper target for veteran signal-caller Andy Dalton, who's helped facilitate a 24-306-3 line on 43 targets for the talented pass catcher over his first four games as the starting quarterback.

Likely to play Sunday
Johnson (ankle) remains listed as questionable but is expected to play Sunday against the Commanders, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: On top of the ankle issue, Johnson also has been dealing with hamstring and rib injuries, which caused him to miss practice Wednesday and Thursday before getting in a limited session Friday. It's unclear how close to 100 percent Johnson is, but he's trending toward being active ahead of Sunday's 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff. Johnson has drawn a team-leading 43 targets across four starts with Andy Dalton under center, cementing himself as a locked-in fantasy starter in most leagues.

Listed as questionable
Johnson (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Washington, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Johnson played through an ankle injury the past two weeks but is now listed with hamstring and rib injuries as well. He was held out of practice Wednesday and Thursday before returning to limited participation at the end of the week, which gives the impression he's truly questionable ahead of a 4:05 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday. An absence would leave more playing time for WR Jonathan Mingo while boosting the target-share projections for nearly every other piece of Carolina's offense, including WRs…read more

Present at practice
Johnson (ankle) is preparing to practice Friday morning, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Analysis: He'll likely be a limited participant after sitting out Wednesday and Thursday, but this nonetheless confirms Johnson is making a bid to play Sunday at Washington. He played through the same ankle injury the last two weeks, including this past Sunday when he had a 6-78-1 line on 10 targets in a 38-20 loss to the Falcons.

Missing practice again
Johnson (ankle) isn't practicing Thursday, Alex Zietlow of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Analysis: Johnson played through the same ankle injury the last two weeks, including this past Sunday when he caught six of 10 targets for 78 yards and a touchdown in a 38-20 loss to the Falcons. It's concerning for fantasy managers to see Johnson held out of back-to-back practices, as he managed limited participant in each session last week ahead of his strong showing against Atlanta. He may be in some danger of missing Sunday's game at Washington.

Johnson (ankle) did not practice Wednesday.
Analysis: Johnson has managed to play through his ankle injury in consecutive games, though he was limited in practice leading up to Carolina's loss to the Falcons in Week 6. The veteran wideout led the Panthers in receiving versus Atlanta, securing six of 10 targets for 78 yards and a touchdown while playing 89 percent of offensive snaps. Leads CAR in receiving
Johnson (ankle) finished with six receptions (10 targets) for 78 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 38-20 loss to the Falcons.
Analysis: Johnson suited up as expected following a bout with a minor ankle injury leading up to Sunday's contest. The veteran wideout served his usual role as the Carolina's No. 1 receiving option, leading the club in every receiving category while cashing in his third touchdown of the season. The longtime Pittsburgh Steeler has not skipped a beat since changing squads this past offseason, generating 340 yards off of 29 receptions (55 targets) through six games. Officially active Sunday
Johnson (ankle) is active for Sunday's Week 6 matchup against the Falcons, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.
Analysis: The veteran wideout was thought to be trending in the right direction entering the weekend, and that optimism has now been validated. With Johnson available to serve in his customary No. 1 role, he'll carry a solid fantasy outlook provided no in-game setbacks. The Panthers could well turn to a pass-heavy approach in a game they enter as home underdogs and in which they face a Falcons offense that appears to be settling into a groove.

Expected to suit up Sunday
Johnson (ankle) remains listed as questionable but is likely to play in Sunday's game against Atlanta, sources tell Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com.
Analysis: Johnson has been dealing with an ankle issue for nearly two weeks, but he was able to suit up in Week 5 against Chicago and appears set to do so again Sunday. The wideout was quiet against the Bears with just three catches on six targets for 23 yards along with two carries for six yards, but the Panthers haven't provided an indication that the injured ankle was responsible for his lack of production. Johnson posted a much more robust 15-205-2 receiving line between Weeks 3 and 4 while working…read more

Johnson (ankle) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Falcons, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Analysis: There hasn't been much suggestion of legitimate concern about Johnson's Week 6 availability, but fantasy managers will now need to make sure he's active ahead of a 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff Sunday. Johnson played through the same injury last week and handled his normal workload until the fourth quarter of a 36-10 loss to the Bears, catching three of six targets for 23 yards and taking two carries for six yards. Limited in practice again
Johnson (ankle) was a limited practice participant Thursday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Analysis: Johnson played through the same injury and handled his normal workload in Sunday's loss to the Bears, after logging limited practices Thursday and Friday last week. He's now been a limited participant Wednesday and Thursday this week, giving him one last chance to upgrade to 'full' before Sunday's game against the Falcons.

Limited by ankle issue
Johnson (ankle) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.
Analysis: Johnson now has logged three consecutive capped sessions going back to last week, but he was able to suit up for this past Sunday's loss at Chicago and handle a typical 80 percent snap share on his way to three catches (on six targets) for 23 yards. Meanwhile, Xavier Legette (shoulder) practiced in full Wednesday, meaning the Panthers may have most of their wide receivers aside from Adam Thielen (hamstring) available Week 6 against the Falcons.

Disappointing numbers in loss
Johnson secured three of six targets for 23 yards in the Panthers' 36-10 loss to the Bears on Sunday. He also rushed twice for six yards.
Analysis: The chemistry demonstrated by Johnson and Andy Dalton over the previous two games wasn't anywhere to be found Sunday against an aggressive Bears defense. Johnson's pedestrian numbers were almost certainly a byproduct of the matchup, however, and per head coach Dave Canales' postgame comments, it appears the veteran receiver will have a chance to continue working with Dalton in a Week 6 home matchup against the Falcons despite the veteran signal-caller's late-game benching Sunday.

Cleared to face Chicago
Johnson (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game at Chicago, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Johnson never quite progressed to full practice participation, logging limited sessions Thursday and Friday, but the lack of an injury designation nonetheless confirms his ankle isn't a major concern. He's caught 15 of 27 targets for 205 yards and two TDs in two games since Andy Dalton took over as the starting QB, putting up big numbers against the Raiders and then Bengals. Analysis: Johnson took a step forward from Wednesday, when he opened the practice week as a non-participant due to the ankle issue. The wideout will look to upgrade to full activity Friday, and if he does, Johnson will likely head into Sunday's game against the Bears without an injury designation. Carolina may simply be exercising caution with Johnson, who played through a groin injury Week 4. Analysis: The Panthers seem to be exercising caution with Johnson, as head coach Dave Canales relayed that the team wants to "get ahead of it" in reference to the wide receiver's health concern. Johnson's production has taken off the last two games with Andy Dalton under center, combining for 15 catches (on 27 targets) for 205 yards and two touchdowns. Analysis: The first-year Panther has been one of fantasy's top wide receivers since Andy Dalton took over for Bryce Young at quarterback. Johnson has caught 15 of his 27 targets for 205 yards and two touchdowns, including five catches of 15-plus yards, over Carolina's last two games. Analysis: Johnson had a groin injury pop up Thursday that sidelined him for practice, but he got in a limited session Friday and will be ready for action in Week 4. There doesn't seem to be any concern about his snap count or effectiveness, as Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports that the wide receiver got extra work in with new starting quarterback Andy Dalton throughout the week. Johnson (groin) was limited in Friday's practice and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bengals, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Johnson's absence from practice Thursday was downplayed, with Steve Reed of the Associated Press suggesting it was a precautionary measure due to a wet field. That may be true, but fantasy managers will need to monitor the situation ahead of Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff after Johnson was limited in his return to practice and given an injury designation for the game. Erupts with Dalton as QB
Johnson recorded eight catches on 14 targets for 122 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 36-22 win over the Raiders.
Analysis: Johnson had a combined 34 yards in his first two games as a Panther, a mark he managed to surpass on a 35-yard catch and run late in the first half. Primarily regarded as a possession receiver, Johnson hit for big plays of 23, 17 and 16 yards and also had his first touchdown of the season from five yards away midway through the second quarter. After being acquired by Carolina this offseason, Johnson should be the biggest beneficiary of a competent offense moving forward.

Minimal production in Week 2 loss
Johnson brought in three of six targets for 15 yards in the Panthers' 26-3 loss to the Chargers on Sunday.
Analysis: The veteran was once again a victim of circumstance, as Bryce Young threw for only 84 yards on 3.2 yards per attempt. Johnson did draw a team-high amount of targets that also matched his Week 1 total. As expected, Young sees Johnson as a reliable receiver, but the second-year quarterback's inability to get the ball downfield will continue to cap Johnson's fantasy value heading into a Week 3 road matchup against the Raiders.

Quiet debut for Carolina
Johnson caught two of six targets for 19 yards in Sunday's 47-10 loss to the Saints.
Analysis: The former Steeler finished second on the Panthers in targets in his debut for the team, but Johnson was rarely on the same page with second-year QB Bryce Young. Johnson saw his numbers decline in his final two years for Pittsburgh due to erratic quarterback play, and it looks like his situation may have gotten even worse with the offseason move to Carolina. The target volume was at least mildly encouraging, and Johnson will try to do more with his looks in Week 2 against the Chargers.

Analysis: Johnson missed time during training camp due to a groin injury and illness, so it was nice to see him get into a preseason game and build some rapport with Bryce Young. Johnson's lone catch was an important one, as it helped the Panthers convert on fourth down on an opening drive that ended in a touchdown before Carolina's starters got the rest of the day off. Johnson (groin) isn't slated to play in Saturday's preseason contest against the Jets, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.
Analysis: Johnson sat out the last two practices ahead of this contest due to a strained groin, so it's no surprise that he'll remain on the sideline Saturday. He'll be joined by fellow wide receivers Adam Thielen and Xavier Legette, which leaves Jonathan Mingo, Terrace Marshall and Ihmir Smith-Marsette, among others, to get reps at the position. Johnson is ramping up for his first season in Carolina after managing between 717 and 1,161 receiving yards over the last four campaigns.

Not at practice
Johnson (groin) isn't practicing Thursday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Johnson initially was held out of practice Wednesday, with coach Dave Canales saying the wideout had a "mild groin strain." The Panthers apparently don't expect him to be out for long, but it's probably safe to assume Johnson will miss Saturday's preseason game against the Jets.

Sidelined by groin strain
Panthers head coach Dave Canales said Johnson missed Wednesday's practice with a "mild groin strain," Alex Zietlow of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Analysis: Aside from Wednesday, Johnson hasn't missed any notable practice time since the Panthers traded for him in March, with most reports from training camp noting that the 28-year-old receiver has seen a steady flow of targets from quarterback Bryce Young. Canales downplayed the severity of the groin strain, but it's probably safe to assume Johnson will miss Saturday's preseason game against the Jets.

Among starters sitting Thursday
Johnson is among the Panthers not in line to play in Thursday night's preseason opener against the Patriots, Kassidy Hill of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: The same applies to QBs Bryce Young and Andy Dalton, RBs Chuba Hubbard, Miles Sanders and Raheem Blackshear, WRs Adam Thielen and Xavier Legette, as well as TEs Ian Thomas and Tommy Tremble. Johnson's next chance to make his game debut with the Panthers will arrive Saturday, Aug. 17 against the Jets.

Dealt to Carolina
The Steelers are slated to trade Johnson to the Panthers in exchange for Donte Jackson and a pick swap, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Johnson had a relatively disappointing 2023 season as the No. 1 option in Pittsburgh, as he finished with a career-low 51 receptions to go along with 717 yards through the air and five touchdowns. After spending his first five seasons with the Steelers, the 27-year-old will compete with Adam Thielen for the No. 1 pass catching role in Carolina and look to build a rapport with Bryce Young.

Finds end zone in playoff loss
Johnson secured four of seven targets for 48 yards and a touchdown in the Steelers' 31-17 wild-card loss to the Bills on Monday afternoon.
Analysis: Johnson put the Steelers' first points of the afternoon on the board in the second quarter with a 10-yard scoring grab, and he finished second in receptions and third in receiving yards and targets for the team in the contest. The fifth-year pro enjoyed a reasonably productive regular season despite the Steelers' unstable quarterback situation, posting a 51-717-5 line across 13 games. Johnson impressively took 10 of those 51 grabs for 20-plus yards as well, but with a cap hit of $15.8 million…read more

Long touchdown catch
Johnson recorded four receptions on five targets for 89 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 17-10 win over the Ravens.
Analysis: The Steelers' passing game was limited due to rainy conditions in Baltimore, minimizing targets and particularly downfield opportunity for pass catchers. Johnson accounted for one of the few exceptions to that with a 71-yard catch and run into the end zone on the first play from scrimmage in the fourth quarter. He closes the regular season with five touchdowns across 13 games while also averaging a career-best 14.1 yards per catch.

Loses out to Pickens again
Johnson recorded four catches on four targets for 76 yards in Sunday's 30-23 win over Seattle.
Analysis: Johnson had improved results in his second game with Mason Rudolph, primarily thanks to a 42-yard reception midway through the third quarter. However, he was outplayed by George Pickens for the second consecutive week and also saw only half the target volume of Pickens. So long as Rudolph is under center, it appears that Johnson will be the second receiver in the offense, though the improved state of the unit will still give him a chance to produce in a Week 18 matchup against the Ravens.

Minimal chemistry with Rudolph
Johnson caught two of five targets for 15 yards in Saturday's 34-11 win over the Bengals.
Analysis: In Mason Rudolph's first start of the season under center, Johnson took a back seat to George Pickens, who erupted for 195 yards and two touchdowns. Johnson had a three-game touchdown streak snapped Saturday, but he has just 250 receiving yards over his last seven games (35.7 yards per game) heading into a Week 17 road matchup with Seattle.

Good production in loss
Johnson recorded four catches on six targets for 62 yards and a touchdown in Saturday's 30-13 loss to the Colts.
Analysis: Johnson got off to a slow start, as he wasn't targeted in the first quarter. He picked things up from there, however, as his first catch of the day went for a four-yard touchdown. Johnson went on to tally long catches of 26 and 18 yards to account for the majority of his remaining production. The Steelers' quarterback situation is quite ambiguous heading into a Week 16 matchup against the Bengals, but Johnson now has a touchdown in three straight games.

Set to face Colts
Johnson (knee) doesn't carry an injury designation for Saturday's game against the Colts after being listed as a full practice participant Thursday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Johnson was added to the Steelers' Week 15 injury report after sitting out Wednesday's practice, but evidently the wideout's knee issue wasn't a major concern, and he'll be available to catch passes from starting QB Mitch Trubisky this weekend. In Pittsburgh's 21-18 loss to the Patriots (also started by Trubisky) in Week 14, Johnson logged 48 of a possible 70 snaps on offense en route to catching three of his seven targets for a team-high 57 yards and scoring a TD in his second straight contest.

Added to injury report
Johnson didn't practice Wednesday due to a knee injury, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: Johnson wasn't included Tuesday on the team's initial Week 15 injury report, so his absence from Wednesday's practice is notable. What the wideout is able to do Thursday -- if anything -- thus looms large in terms of his chances of facing the Colts on Saturday. If Johnson is sidelined this weekend, Calvin Austin and Miles Boykin would be candidates to see more reps alongside starting wideouts George Pickens and Allen Robinson.

Paces pass catchers in loss
Johnson secured three of seven targets for 57 yards and a touchdown in the Steelers' 21-18 loss to the Patriots on Thursday night.
Analysis: Johnson's receiving yardage paced the Steelers on the night by a wide margin, and his targets were also a team high. The fifth-year pro's yardage tally was also his highest since Week 9, and he's now scored in consecutive contests for the first time this season after recording a 25-yard touchdown grab late in the third quarter. Garbage-time touchdown
Johnson recorded four receptions on five targets for 33 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Cardinals.
Analysis: Johnson made two short catches early in the game and then completely disappeared until late in the fourth quarter. With the Steelers down three scores, he made a 26-yard catch and followed that up with a two-yard touchdown reception two plays later. Johnson has now been held under 50 receiving yards in three of his last four games and could be without Kenny Pickett (ankle) for a Week 14 matchup against New England on Thursday.

Good to go Sunday
Johnson (illness) doesn't carry an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: After not practicing Thursday due to an illness, Johnson was a full participant a day later, which sets the stage for him to face the Cardinals in Week 13. In last Sunday's 16-10 win over the Bengals, Johnson caught four of his eight targets for 50 yards, marking his second consecutive outing with eight targets, a rate of volume that gives him a degree of fantasy utility this weekend while facing 2-10 Arizona.

Sits out Thursday with illness
Johnson didn't participate in Thursday's practice due to an illness, Joe Rutter of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Analysis: Johnson reportedly arrived at the Steelers' facility and planned to take the field Thursday, but the team instead advised him to head home and get some rest and recovery rather than practicing at less than 100 percent health. Assuming Johnson is able to return to practice Friday, he should still be in good shape to play this Sunday against the Cardinals.

Eight targets against Bengals
Johnson recorded four receptions on eight targets for 50 yards in Sunday's 16-10 win over the Bengals.
Analysis: Kenny Pickett threw for a season-high 268 yards, though Johnson didn't benefit from the performance. He did manage Pittsburgh's second-longest play from scrimmage on a deep 39-yard catch early in the second quarter and also narrowly missed out on a touchdown earlier in the contest. Despite glimpses of positives, Johnson now has 50 or fewer yards in three consecutive games.

Dismal performance against Browns
Johnson recorded two receptions on eight targets for 16 yards in Sunday's 13-10 loss to the Browns.
Analysis: Johnson led the Steelers in targets, narrowly out-pacing George Pickens. While no Pittsburgh pass catcher had a productive day, Johnson's stands out as particularly poor given that he had catches of only three and six yards, with his final seven yards coming on a lateral at the end of the game. Across his last two contests, he's combined to post three receptions for 33 yards and will head into another likely low-scoring divisional matchup against the Bengals in Week 12.

Johnson (thumb) was a full practice participant Thursday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: Johnson was listed as a non-participant Wednesday, but the wideout's return to a full session one day later sets the stage for him to remain a key target for quarterback Kenny Pickett in Sunday's game against the Browns. The wideout caught just one of his four targets for 17 yards in a 23-19 win over the Packers last weekend, but in the two contests prior, he combined for 15 catches on 23 targets for 175 yards and a touchdown.

Dealing with thumb issue
Johnson didn't practice Wednesday due to a thumb injury, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: Johnson played 53 snaps on offense and caught one of his four targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 23-19 win over the Packers, but he may have emerged from the game with the thumb injury. With an absence from practice to begin Week 11 prep, Johnson's status is worth monitoring ahead of Sunday's game against the Browns. Only one grab
Johnson caught one of four targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 23-19 win over the Packers.
Analysis: Johnson was hardly a factor despite the Packers missing top cornerback Jaire Alexander (shoulder). The wideout will now turn his attention toward next Sunday's divisional clash versus the Browns, who he did not face earlier this season due to injury.

Breaks long TD drought
Johnson secured seven of nine targets for 90 yards and a touchdown in the Steelers' 20-16 win over the Titans on Thursday night.
Analysis: Johnson enjoyed a banner night overall, which he capped with a three-yard scoring grab that served as both the game-winning touchdown and his first trip to the end zone since 2021. The 2019 third-rounder also led the Steelers in receptions, receiving yards and targets, with the middle figure qualifying as a season high. Analysis: Johnson limped off the field in the second half of Sunday's matchup but quickly returned to the game. He was also catching passes from Mitch Trubisky in the second half after Kenny Pickett left the game with a rib injury, but neither issue appeared to slow Johnson down, as he was targeted 14 times after being targeted six times in each of his first two performances of the year. Successful showing in return
Johnson brought in five of six targets for 79 yards in the Steelers' 24-17 win over the Rams on Sunday.
Analysis: Johnson enjoyed a successful return from a four-game absence due to a hamstring injury, tying George Pickens for the team lead in receptions while finishing second to him in receiving yards and targets. The fifth-year wideout appeared fully healthy while frequently bedeviling Rams defensive backs with his crisp routes, and he should once again serve as an effective complement to Pickens' downfield exploits in a Week 8 home matchup versus the Jaguars.

The Steelers announced Monday that Johnson (hamstring) has been designated to return from injured reserve.
Analysis: The transaction opens up Johnson's 21-day practice window in which he can work out with teammates without counting against the 53-man roster. Johnson (hamstring) said Tuesday that he expects to play in Week 7 at the Rams following the Steelers' Week 6 bye, Mark Kaboly of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: After sustaining a right hamstring injury in the season opener, Johnson was given a recovery timeline of about four weeks, which is the minimum length of a stint on injured reserve. With the Steelers having played four contests since placing him on IR on Sept. 18, he'll be eligible to return following this week's bye. Positively, he did manage a 32-yard catch -- the longest play from scrimmage for Pittsburgh -- and also chipped in a reception to convert a two-point attempt late in the game. Johnson struggled for much of the season and saw a steep dropoff in production as compared to 2021, particularly because he failed to find the end zone across 17 games. He remains under contract for two additional…read more

Returns to field with full practice
Johnson (hip) was a full practice participant Thursday.
Analysis: Johnson's availability for Sunday's regular-season finale with the Browns temporarily looked to be in flux after the hip issue kept the wideout off the practice field Wednesday, but his ability to take every rep a day later clears up any concern about his status. Though health hasn't been much of a concern for Johnson this season -- he's played in all 16 of the Steelers' games to date while playing no fewer than 74 percent of the offensive snaps on every occasion -- the 26-year-old wideout has…read more

Held out of practice
Johnson missed Wednesday's practice with a hip injury.
Analysis: Johnson has been listed with hip and/or toe injuries for the past month without missing a single game. A return to practice Thursday, even in a limited capacity, would put him on track to play Sunday against the Browns. Another absence, on the other hand, might be cause for legitimate concern as the tries to go 17-for-17 in appearances in an otherwise disappointing campaign.

Struggles with seven targets
Johnson had two receptions (seven targets) for 35 yards in Sunday's 16-13 win over the Ravens.
Analysis: Johnson was not on the same page with quarterback Kenny Pickett in this one, resulting in a season-low 29 percent catch rate. The veteran wideout was dealing with a hip injury during practice this week, and he went down holding his shin Sunday before ultimately returning and finishing the contest. It wouldn't be surprising to see the 26-year-old pop up on the injury report again in Week 18 following this punishing win. Logs full practice
Johnson (hip) was a full practice participant Thursday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: Johnson, who managed a toe issue ahead of Week 16 action, was limited during Wednesday's practice, but the wideout's full participation Thursday puts him on track to suit up Sunday night against the Ravens. In his team's 13-10 win over the Raiders last Saturday, Johnson recorded an 88 percent snap share while catching five of his seven targets for 64 yards. This time around, he'll be facing a Baltimore defense that is allowing an average of 239.5 passing yards per game to date.

Logs limited practice Wednesday
Johnson (toe) was a limited participant at practice Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: Johnson missed practice last Wednesday and Thursday with the same injury before being listed questionable for this past Saturday's win over the Raiders. The wideout played in the contest while logging an 88 percent snap share and catching five of his seven targets for 64 yards. With no reported setbacks coming out of that game, chances are Johnson's listed limitations Wednesday are a case of his reps being managed in advance of this weekend's showdown with the Ravens.

Tallies five receptions
Johnson recorded five receptions on seven targets for 64 yards in Saturday's 13-10 win over the Raiders.
Analysis: Johnson finished third on the team in targets, behind both Pat Freiermuth and Najee Harris. He still managed a relatively productive performance, highlighted by gains of 15 and 14 yards, and he has now topped 60 yards in four consecutive games. Despite his recent run of productivity, Johnson has still yet to find the end zone in 15 games on the campaign.

Johnson (toe) is listed as active for Saturday night's game against the Raiders.
Analysis: Though Johnson, whom the Steelers listed as questionable due to a turf toe issue, didn't practice Wednesday or Thursday, Chris Adamski of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review previously relayed via running back Najee Harris that the wideout got some work in when the Steelers took the field Friday. Analysis: Per Chris Halicke of DKPittsburghSports.com, the Steelers are slated to get some more work in Friday, at which point, there should be added context with regard to Johnson's Week 16 status. Per Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com, Johnson indicated that he should be good to go versus Las Vegas.

Misses practice
Johnson (toe) didn't practice Wednesday, Chris Halicke of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
Analysis: Johnson caught 10 passes for a season-high 98 yards in Sunday's 24-16 win over the Panthers, but he came out of the game dealing with turf toe and now appears uncertain for Saturday's matchup with the Raiders. Head coach Mike Tomlin said earlier this week that he expected Johnson to play against Las Vegas, and a return to practice Thursday would put the veteran wideout on track to make good on Tomlin's prediction.

Johnson (toe) is listed as a limited participant on Tuesday's estimated practice report, Dale Lolley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: The Steelers didn't hold an actual practice just two days after defeating the Panthers. They're on a short week, along with most of the NFL, but Johnson seems more likely than not to play after putting up a season-high 98 receiving yards against Carolina. Tending to turf toe
Coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that Johnson is dealing with a turf toe injury, Chris Halicke of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
Analysis: For a player with no touchdowns to his name in 14 appearances this season, Johnson's season-high catch total (10) and yards from scrimmage (100) from Sunday's win at Carolina was a welcome sight. He was working with backup quarterback Mitch Trubisky in that contest, but there's an expectation regular starter Kenny Pickett (concussion) is back for Saturday's matchup with the Raiders. Makes 10 grabs
Johnson caught all 10 of his targets for 98 yards in Sunday's 24-16 win over the Panthers. He also rushed once for two yards.
Analysis: Johnson hauled in every pass that fill-in starter Mitch Trubisky threw his way, leading the Steelers in all major receiving categories while posting a season high in catches. That production came despite Johnson advocating earlier in the week for Mason Rudolph to start at quarterback with rookie Kenny Pickett (concussion) on the mend. While it remains to be seen who will be under center in Week 16 versus the Raiders, Johnson at least put together a strong performance in Sunday's win.

Removed from injury report
Johnson (hip) doesn't carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Panthers, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
Analysis: Johnson returned to a limited practice Friday after sitting out Thursday, and that was enough to convince Steelers brass that he'll be available come Sunday. Which quarterback will be throwing Johnson the ball remains to be seen. Kenny Pickett (concussion) is doubtful, and head coach Mike Tomlin wouldn't name a starter between Mitch Trubisky and Mason Rudolph. Earlier in the week, Johnson advocated for Rudolph to start if Pickett can't play.

Johnson (hip) didn't practice Thursday.
Analysis: Johnson managed a hip issue during practice last week as well, missing Thursday's session before returning to a limited practice Friday. Added clarity on that front will arrive once the Steelers' final injury report is posted ahead of Sunday's game against the Panthers.

Tallies 82 yards

Analysis: Johnson led the Pittsburgh receiving corps in targets, receptions and yards with a combination of Kenny Pickett and Mitch Trubisky under center. His day was highlighted by a 37-yard catch late in the fourth quarter, which helped set up a late touchdown by Pat Freiermuth. While Johnson's performance wasn't all that noteworthy, it marked his highest yardage total since Week 3.

Johnson (hip) will not carry an injury designation into Sunday's game against the Ravens, Mike DeFabo of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Johnson previously was listed as questionable for Sunday's contest despite two days of practicing in limited fashion, but the slot receiver is now officially cleared for action ahead of the pivotal divisional matchup. The 26-year-old has drawn 19 targets over the past two weeks, but he's managed to corral just 10 receptions over that stretch, as Johnson's reception rate has dramatically fallen off with rookie QB Kenny Pickett under center.

Johnson (hip) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Ravens after practicing on a limited basis Friday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: Johnson went from a limited session Wednesday to missing Thursday's practice, but his return to the field Friday bodes well for his chances of suiting up this weekend. Johnson (hip) said Friday that he's "feeling good" and feels as though he'll be able to play Sunday against the Ravens, Chris Halicke of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
Analysis: The hip issue that has affected Johnson's practice participation this week stems from an injury he sustained in the Steelers' Week 13 win over the Falcons. Analysis: After being listed as a limited participant Wednesday, Johnson logged a DNP on Thursday, which clouds the wideout's status for Sunday's game against the Ravens. Analysis: Johnson commanded double-digit targets for the first time since Week 7, though he still managed only a mediocre performance. Analysis: Cincinnati consistently shaded extra attention Johnson's way, so rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett threw mostly to George Pickens and Pat Freiermuth, who combined for 12 catches, 162 yards and a touchdown on 18 targets. Though Johnson, who scored eight touchdowns in 16 games last season, has yet to find the end zone through his first five games in 2022, the 26-year-old has retained a degree of fantasy utility while leading the Steelers with 28 catches and 267 receiving yards in that span.

Johnson (hip) didn't play during the Steelers' 32-25 preseason win over the Seahawks on Saturday.
Analysis: Johnson and Chase Claypool (shoulder) warmed up in full uniform prior to Saturday's matchup, but both receivers were held out. Johnson landed a two-year extension with the Steelers in early August but has dealt with a hip flexor injury this week. It's not yet clear whether Johnson will take the field for the Steelers' final two preseason matchups, but he'll serve as the team's top receiving option if he's healthy to begin the regular season.

Managing hip issue
Johnson (hip) was present for Thursday's practice, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: That said, Pryor notes that Johnson was sporting shoulder pads but no leg pads Thursday, which suggests that he's still working his way back from a hip flexor. In that context, Johnson appears unlikely to play in Saturday's preseason game against the Seahawks.

Tending to hip injury
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said Monday that Johnson is dealing with a hip flexor injury, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Tomlin didn't go into detail regarding the severity of Johnson's injury, but given his status as an established starter, the 26-year-old wideout is unlikely to play in Saturday's preseason opener against the Seahawks even if he's able to quickly move past the issue. After recently signing a two-year, $39.5 million extension with the Steelers, Johnson will be locked in as a top target for whichever quarterback emerges as the team's Week 1 starter.

Gets two-year extension
Johnson has agreed to a two-year extension with the Steelers that is reportedly worth up to $39.5 million, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Analysis: Per the report, Johnson's new deal with Pittsburgh includes $27 million guaranteed. With that, the 2019 third-rounder, who racked up 107 catches (on 169 targets) for 1,161 yards and eight touchdowns in 16 games last season, presumably is set to resume practicing fully with his teammates in short order. This coming season, the 26-year-old will maintain his standing as the Steelers' top option in a wideout corps that also includes fellow returnee Chase Claypool as well as rookies George Pickens…read more

Still in talks for new contract
GM Omar Khan said Tuesday that the Steelers are in talks with Johnson's representatives.
Analysis: Johnson has been a "hold-in" through the first week of training camp, joining his teammates on the field but then watching team drills from the side. It seems both sides expect an agreement to be reached before Week 1, though the Steelers haven't exactly been known for their generosity in contract negotiations with top players. Johnson, a 2019 third-round pick, is entering the fourth and final year of his rookie contract.

Not doing team drills
Johnson was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, sitting out team drills as he enters the final year of his contract, Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: A report in early July suggested the Steelers weren't planning to extend Johnson, who may thus be hesitant to take part in full-team drills at training camp without a new deal in tow. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said he doesn't think Johnson's limited activity is a big deal, and it's possible a new contract is around the corner despite the report from a few weeks ago.

Likely won't extend deal
Johnson isn't likely to get a significant contract offer from the Steelers prior to becoming a free agent following the 2022 season, Mark Kaboly of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The Steelers have a tendency for not overpaying for wide receivers, but Johnson should command a lucrative contract in free agency following the 2022 season. The 26-year-old has had a massive target share over the last two seasons, drawing 313 targets during that time. He cut down on drops in 2021 and had a career-best season, securing 107 of 169 looks for 1,161 yards and eight touchdowns. Finds end zone in losing effort
Johnson had five receptions on 10 targets for 34 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 42-21 loss to the Steelers.
Analysis: The 24-year-old finished first among all Pittsburgh receiving options in targets even with JuJu Smith-Schuster returning for Ben Roethlisberger's swan song. Johnson finished the regular season with team highs in receptions (107) and receiving yardage (1,161) while cashing in eight scores. He's established as the Steelers' No. 1 wideout, but the team's quarterback situation in 2022 will determine how much fantasy value Johnson will carry next season.

Johnson secured seven of 10 targets for 51 yards in Sunday's 16-13 overtime win over Baltimore.
Analysis: Johnson sustained a rib injury early in Sunday's contest, but he was able to play through the issue and led the Steelers in targets during the win. Although he had a crucial drop on third down late in overtime, the team still picked up the win to likely clinch a postseason berth. The 25-year-old led the Steelers' pass catchers while appearing in 16 of 17 games during the regular season and topped 1,000 receiving yards for the first time in his career. Analysis: The Steelers placed Johnson on the reserve/COVID-19 list Thursday, but he's quickly been activated by the team, which sets the stage for the wideout to suit up Sunday against the Ravens. Scores in victory
Johnson caught eight of 15 targets for 31 yards and a touchdown in Monday night's 26-14 win over the Browns.
Analysis: Johnson led the Steelers in catches and looks his way, opening the scoring with a five-yard touchdown in the first quarter as well. Although his high involvement yielded little yardage, with his 3.9 yards per grab marking his lowest average in a game this season, Johnson's score gave him an end-zone trip in consecutive contests. Finds end zone late
Johnson caught six passes for 51 yards and one touchdown on nine targets against Kansas City on Sunday.
Analysis: The touchdown occurred late during garbage time in a game during which the Steelers were pummeled 36-10, and Johnson lost a fumble without being touched earlier in the game, but the rougher points in his Sunday performance can be excused given the difficulty of the circumstances. Ben Roethlisberger couldn't get anything going against the Chiefs defense, and Johnson had only moderate success as a result. Held to 48 total yards
Johnson recorded five receptions on five targets for 38 yards in Sunday's 19-13 win over Tennessee. He added one rush for 10 yards.
Analysis: The Steelers offense didn't do much offensively in the victory, so Johnson was still the team's leading receiver despite the underwhelming numbers. He turned in only one reception for more than 10 yards, and his next biggest gain came on an end-around late in the first quarter. Despite the underwhelming performance, Johnson's role in the offense is secure, as he has at least five receptions in nine consecutive games and his yardage total Sunday was his lowest since Week 1.

Another productive showing in loss
Johnson secured five of 10 targets for 76 yards and caught a two-point conversion pass in the Steelers' 36-28 loss to the Vikings on Thursday night.
Analysis: Johnson led the Steelers in targets and checked in behind only Chase Claypool in receiving yardage. Johnson is now just 10 yards away from his first 1,000-yard campaign, and just seven catches shy of tying the career-best 88 he logged last season. With Thursday's reception and yardage totals serving as his floor in those categories over the last five games, he seemingly has a good chance of reaching both marks in a Week 15 battle against the Titans a week from Sunday.

Analysis: Johnson continued to garner plenty of volume in Sunday's narrow victory, as he's now had double-digit targets in each of the last four games. Sunday's contest marked the first time this season that the 25-year-old reached the end zone multiple times, and his second touchdown came with 1:48 remaining in the game to help give Pittsburgh a seven-point lead. Analysis: Johnson led all Steelers receiving options in targets, receptions and yardage despite the overall disappointing team performance. The 25-year-old has been a steady fantasy contributor while taking over as Pittsburgh's top receiving option this season, seeing a whopping 119 targets through 10 starts. With the help of that catch, Johnson actually led or tied for the team lead in all major receiving categories, but it was rookie tight end Pat Freiermuth who scored twice. Productive despite limited targets
Johnson secured both of his targets for 72 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 27-19 win over the Broncos.
Analysis: Johnson had been targeted at least 10 times in each of his first three appearances of 2021, but he saw fewer looks in Week 5 as the Steelers had a season-low 25 pass attempts. However, the 25-year-old hauled in a 50-yard touchdown early in the first quarter, which was his longest catch of the year. As a result, the 2019 third-rounder appeared to be benched for most of the first half, and he now has a league-worst 13 drops this season. Johnson still was effective with the ball in his hands Sunday, but it's safe to wonder whether he'll have a decreased role going forward if he fails to haul in targets.

Scores in first defeat
Johnson caught eight of 12 targets for 71 yards and a touchdown in Monday's 23-17 loss to Washington.
Analysis: Johnson's performance was highlighted by his three-yard touchdown to open the game's scoring in the second quarter. Although he struggled with drops for the second game in a row, Johnson still led Pittsburgh in receptions and targets. The shifty wideout has now commanded double-digit looks in five straight games, catching at least six passes in all of those outings and topping 70 yards four times as well. Fails to capitalize on 13 targets
Johnson recorded eight receptions on 13 targets for 46 yards in Wednesday's 19-14 win over the Ravens.
Analysis: Johnson's target total led the way for the Steelers in a game in which quarterback Ben Roethlisberger aired it out 51 times. The outing wasn't Johnson's most efficient, however, as he managed only 3.5 yards per target, and his longest reception went for only 11 yards. He'll look for a bounce-back performance Week 13 against Washington.

Another lucrative receiving day
Johnson reeled in 12 of 16 targets for 111 receiving yards during Sunday's 27-3 win against Jacksonville.
Analysis: No. 1 receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster (toe) suffered an injury during the contest, but according to Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com, it seems the team was exercising a cautious approach in restraining his workload with a multi-possession second-half lead in hand. Johnson took full advantage of increased opportunity, doubling Chase Claypool for the team lead in targets and translating that into his second consecutive outing of 110-plus receiving yards. Logs 116 yards in big performance
Johnson recorded six receptions on 11 targets for 116 yards and one touchdown in Week 10 against the Bengals.
Analysis: Johnson was one of three Steelers receivers to see double-digit targets, though he far outgained both JuJu Smith-Schuster and Chase Claypool. Johnson provided several explosive receptions, including gains of 46, 18 and 17 yards. In addition, Johnson snagged his fourth touchdown of the season on a 12-yard slant route late in the first quarter. Johnson has seen at least 10 targets in five of his nine contests this season and will draw a favorable matchup against the Jaguars in Week 11.

Racks up 77 yards in win
Johnson hauled in six of his 10 targets for 77 yards while also recording one carry for four yards in Sunday's 24-19 win over the Cowboys.
Analysis: Johnson wasn't very involved in the Steelers' Week 8 matchup against Baltimore, but he was on the field for 81 percent of the offensive snaps against the Cowboys. His performance was highlighted by a 42-yard reception that led to the go-ahead touchdown as Pittsburgh remained undefeated. The 2019 third-rounder will face a slightly tougher test against the Bengals in Week 10, but he's proven to be a significant producer in the Steelers offense when he's fully healthy.

Johnson hauled in one of his three targets for six receiving yards during Sunday's 28-24 win against Baltimore.
Analysis: Johnson was forced to sit out Week 6 because of a back injury, but he re-emerged last Sunday against the Titans with a nine-catch, 80-yard, two-touchdown performance. The 2019 third-round pick enjoyed an exciting start to the season with 14 receptions, 149 yards and a touchdown Weeks 1 and 2, but he's since dealt with injury and has been held under 10 receiving yards over three of his past four appearances. Analysis: Johnson is coming off one of his best fantasy performances of the season with two touchdowns Week 7 against Tennessee, but the injury bug bit again and he was forced to leave the contest early. The second-year wideout proceeded to begin the week with a missed practice session, but it seems he intends to be back out there Thursday, which would only increase his chances of getting to suit up for a key divisional matchup Week 8 in Baltimore.

Johnson didn't practice Wednesday due to a toe injury, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: The Steelers' injury report doesn't reference an ankle bruise the wideout reportedly suffered in the Week 7 win over the Titans, but it bears noting that Johnson previously managed a toe issue earlier in the season. Analysis: Johnson returned after a Week 6 absence with a back injury and showed no rust early on. He tallied two of the first three Steelers' touchdowns on 11 and nine-yard receptions respectively. Analysis: Johnson's back injury caused him to miss Sunday's win over the Browns, but he now appears fully on track to return for the Steelers' Week 7 contest against the undefeated Titans. Assuming Johnson is good to go this weekend, he stands to handle his usual role in three-receiver sets alongside JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee) and Chase Claypool, while James Washington would seemingly become the odd man out.

Analysis: Johnson has been bit by the injury bug this season, but due to an unexpected Week 4 bye, he only missed this past Sunday's win against the Browns. During the week, he followed a DNP/LP/DNP practice regimen before the Steelers' ultimately made the call on his availability Sunday. Johnson didn't practice Wednesday due to a toe injury, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Johnson has progressed out of the NFL's concussion protocol, but he continues to manage a toe issue that Pryor suggests is minor and one that hasn't kept the wideout out of any games. The wideout's status will be updated again Thursday, but it wouldn't be surprising if he advances to full activity. He was on the field for 83 percent of Pittsburgh's snaps on offense in Week 2's win over the Broncos, en route to recording eight catches on 13 targets for 92 yards and a TD. Finds end zone as leading receiver
Johnson caught eight of 13 targets for 92 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 26-21 win over the Broncos.
Analysis: Johnson led the team in targets, catches and receiving yards while scoring his first touchdown of the season on a 28-yard strike in the fourth quarter. The second-year wideout has taken a big leap forward to start the new season and has drawn a whopping 23 targets from Ben Roethlisberger over two games. Johnson caught six of 10 targets for 57 yards in Monday night's 26-16 win over the Giants. He also muffed a punt, resulting in a lost fumble in the first quarter.
Analysis: Johnson's night got off to a poor start, as he gifted the Giants the ball on his own three-yard line after coughing up a punt on the game's first drive. He later also had a miscommunication with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, but Johnson's play elevated as the game wore on, and his ability to create separation with his quickness resulted in a team-high target tally while he tied JuJu Smith-Schuster for the lead in receptions. Analysis: The rookie receiver might be in the doghouse after Sunday's game, as he stopped running and helped surrender what might have been a costly interception late in Sunday's contest. Johnson has been targeted plenty in recent weeks, but he's topped 30 yards receiving just once in his last five games. The elixir could be on tap in Week 14 against a weak Arizona pass defense. Johnson should get his opportunities whether or not JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee) continues to be sidelined, though…read more

Key role awaits in Week 13
Johnson and James Washington are expected to serve as the Steelers' primary options at wide receiver Sunday against the Browns with JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee) ruled out for a second straight game, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Pryor speculates that Deon Cain could also see a bump in snaps after making a big 35-yard catch in last week's 16-10 win over Cincinnati, but Johnson and Washington should remain the team's clear top two receivers after handling 68 percent and 78 percent offensive snaps shares, respectively, against the Bengals. Washington provided the top highlight last week -- a 79-yard catch-and-run for a touchdown -- but the wideouts have seen similar involvement in the passing game throughout the season.…read more

Makes three catches in return
Johnson caught three of six targets for 29 yards during Sunday's 16-10 win over the Bengals.
Analysis: After recovering from a concussion, Johnson finished second on the team in targets in his return, though he only managed to haul in half the passes sent his way. He recorded a long gain of 14 yards but never really got in a rhythm after Devlin Hodges took over under center. Johnson seems to be at full speed after his injury, but his upside is capped in next Sunday's matchup with the Browns due to lackluster quarterback play.

Cleared to play
Johnson (concussion) doesn't carry an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Bengals.
Analysis: Johnson practiced fully all week, which puts him in line to play Sunday. He'll play a key role opposite fellow wideout James Washington this weekend, with JuJu Smith-Schuster (concussion/knee) already having been ruled out on Friday's final Week 12 injury report. In that context, Johnson -- who caught two passes for 17 yards while logging 38 snaps before exiting Week 11's loss to the Browns -- appears to be in a good spot for a bounce-back effort, facing an 0-10 Cincinnati squad that has…read more

Another full practice
Johnson (concussion) was listed as a full participant at Thursday's practice, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Johnson's ability to complete full practices on back-to-back days to kick off the week bode well for his chances of suiting up Sunday against the Bengals, but he'll retain an injury tag until he gains clearance from an independent neurologist, the final stage of the NFL's five-step protocol for concussions. Assuming Johnson ultimately gets the green light to play, he'll likely represent one of the top targets for quarterback Mason Rudolph, especially with No. 1 wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster…read more

Practices fully, but in protocol
Johnson (concussion) was listed as a full practice participant Wednesday, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Analysis: While Adam Schefter of ESPN previously suggested that it might be a "mild upset" to see Johnson play Sunday against the Bengals, the wideout's participation in the first practice of Week 12 offers some encouragement about his prospects. In any case, Johnson still resides in the NFL's five-step concussion protocol, which is also the case with fellow wideout JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee/concussion), who didn't practice in any fashion Wednesday.

Week 12 status in question
Johnson (concussion) doesn't appear to be trending toward suiting up Sunday against the Bengals, with Adam Schefter of ESPN labeling it "a mild upset" if the receiver were to garner an active status.
Analysis: Meanwhile, JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee/concussion) also looks unlikely to play this week, which would leave Pittsburgh with a depleted receiver room. In the event both Smith-Schuster and Johnson are sidelined in Week 12, James Washington, Johnny Holton, Tevin Jones and Deon Cain would represent the Steelers' healthy options at wideout.

Enters concussion protocol
Johnson was diagnosed with a concussion after exiting Thursday's 21-7 loss to the Browns following a helmet-to-helmet hit from Cleveland safety Damarious Randall, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Pittsburgh ended up losing both of its top two receivers to concussions in the contest, as JuJu Smith-Schuster exited in the first half with the head injury before Johnson followed him to the locker room in the third quarter. Johnson's concussion may have been the more significant of the two, as Schefter notes the rookie was bleeding from his ear after being hit by Randall. Johnson will need to clear the NFL's five-step protocol before he's able to play again, but the fact that Pittsburgh's…read more

Ineffective before exiting
Johnson caught two of four targets for 17 yards in Thursday's 21-7 loss to the Browns before exiting in the third quarter after he was on the receiving end of a helmet-to-helmet hit from the Browns' Damarious Randall.
Analysis: In what can only be characterized as an ugly game -- from the inept Pittsburgh offense to the numerous injuries to the multiple player ejections -- Johnson continued to frustrate fantasy managers before suffering his own game-ending injury. He will have 10 days to clear the league's concussion protocol before the Steelers play their next game Week 12 versus Cincinnati. Johnson was limited to three catches for 15 yards in the Steelers' first matchup with the Bengals back in Week 4.

Ruled out for remainder of contest
Johnson (concussion) has been ruled out for the remainder of Thursday's contest against the Browns, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reports.
Analysis: Johnson was down on the field for several minutes after taking a helmet-to-helmet hit from Damarious Randall. The rookie will now enter league concussion protocol testing, so look for more updates on his status to come next week when the Steelers resume practice. In the meantime, James Washington, Johnny Holton and Tevin Jones will be the only available wideouts for Pittsburgh for the remainder of the contest.

Questionable to return
Johnson is being evaluated for a concussion and is questionable to return to Thursday's contest against the Browns, Steelers Director of Communications Burt Lauten reports.
Analysis: Johnson took a nasty helmet-to-helmet hit from Damarious Randall, who was ejected from the contest as a result. The rookie will have to pass concussion protocol before he can return to the field. The Steelers are already down JuJu Smith-Schuster -- who also suffered a concussion in Thursday's contest. As a result, James Washington, Johnny Holton and Tevin Jones will be the only active wide receivers remaining in the game.

Contributes 64 yards in win
Johnson caught four of six targets for 64 yards in Sunday's 17-12 win over the Rams.
Analysis: The Steelers offense struggled to get anything going for most of the game, resulting in its fewest points scored since Week 1. What little offense the team could muster came in the first half and Johnson's game mirrored that of the team, as he pulled in all four of his receptions in the first 20 minutes. He was only targeted once in the entire second half, and while his role does seem to be increasing, Johnson cannot be relied upon to provide consistent fantasy production. Pittsburgh has a…read more

Held in check
Johnson caught one of two targets for three yards in Sunday's 26-24 win over the Colts. He also ran once for two yards.
Analysis: The downfield passing game was virtually non-existent for the Steelers, with quarterback Mason Rudolph averaging just 5.5 yards per attempt and targeting running back Jaylen Samuels as many times (13) as all other players combined. This was a disappointing effort for Johnson after catching five of seven targets for 84 yards and a touchdown in his previous game. Week 10 doesn't look to be any better for the rookie receiver, as opposing wideouts have not scored a touchdown against the Rams in the…read more
