Full go Wednesday
Johnson (hip) was a full participant in Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: Johnson was inactive for Carolina's Week 4 loss to the Bengals after sustaining a hip injury the week prior, but following Wednesday's full practice, it appears he's moved past the issue. Expect the 28-year-old to continue serving as a depth piece in the Panthers' secondary as the team travels to Chicago in Week 5.

Inactive for Week 4
Johnson (hip) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Bengals, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official website reports.
Analysis: Johnson played exclusively on special teams through the first three games, so his absence shouldn't impact Carolina's defense. The extent of Johnson's hip injury remains unclear, but he left the Panthers' Week 3 win over the Raiders early and didn't practice during Week 4 prep.

Leaves game Sunday
Johnson exited Sunday's 36-22 victory over the Raiders with a groin injury, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.
Analysis: The depth safety did not record a stat before exiting. The safeties ahead of Johnson on the depth chart, Jordan Fuller, Xavier Woods, Jammie Robinson and Nick Scott, are all healthy.

Will play Sunday
Johnson (hip) is active Sunday against the Raiders, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Johnson was limited in practice this week, but that won't stop him from taking the field in Week 3. The veteran doesn't typically play on defense but is a regular on the Panthers' special teams unit.

Moves to active roster
Johnson signed with the Panthers' 53-man roster Tuesday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Johnson was on Carolina's practice squad to start the season but was elevated from it for Week 1's loss to the Saints. The veteran safety only appeared on special teams for the matchup, which has typically been his role the last two seasons, while playing with the Titans and Saints.

Joins old squad
Johnson (knee) agreed to a one-year, $2.5 million contract with the Texans on Wednesday, Logan Farlow of USA Today reports.
Analysis: Johnson will return to Houston, where he spent the first three seasons of his career before suiting up for the Titans and Saints the last two years. The 28-year-old appeared in 12 games with New Orleans last season, missing time due to a knee injury and seeing more work on special teams than in the secondary. He'll likely be in line for a similar role with the Texans.

Won't play vs. Falcons
Johnson (knee) is listed as out for Sunday's game versus the Falcons, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Analysis: Johnson did not participate at practice at all during the week, so it comes as no surprise that he won't suit up in Week 18. Rookie fifth-rounder Jordan Howden figures to see increased reps in Johnson's stead.

Out again for Week 17
Johnson (knee) is out for Sunday's game against the Bucs, Brooke Kirchhofer of NewOrleans.Football reports.

Sidelined for Week 16
Johnson (knee) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Rams, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
Analysis: Johnson was estimated to be a DNP all week in the team's walk-through practices, so this news doesn't necessarily come as a surprise. His absence will be a blow to the Saints' secondary depth, as well as its special teams unit.

Starts week with DNP
Johnson (knee) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimate, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
Analysis: The Saints didn't hold an official practice Monday, so Johnson's status is only an estimate; however, Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com reports that the Kentucky product is more week-to-week and his return this season is up in the air. Considering New Orleans is on a short week with a matchup against the Rams on Thursday, it would seem Johnson is unlikely to play, but his participation level Tuesday and Wednesday should offer more insight.

Ruled out again
Johnson (hamstring) will remain sidelined for Sunday's game in Houston, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.

Johnson (hamstring) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against New England, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.

Leaves with injury
Johnson has departed from Sunday's game against the Buccaneers due to a hamstring injury, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.

Contributes on special teams
Johnson recorded one solo tackle in Sunday's 16-15 victory over the Titans.
Analysis: Johnson did not see the field for any defensive plays, but he did log 24 special teams snaps (86 percent). He will continue to be available to provide depth at cornerback if needed, but it will likely take an injury ahead of him for that opportunity to arise.

Back to active roster
Tennessee activated Johnson (hamstring) from injured reserve Saturday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Johnson missed the minimum four games while on injured reserve due to a hamstring injury he suffered in Week 10, but he'll presumably return to game action Sunday against the Chargers. He's played primarily on special teams this year, but with Amani Hooker (knee) sidelined, Johnson may see a few extra snaps on defense in Week 15.

Designated to return to practice
Johnson (hamstring) was designated to return from injured reserve Thursday, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.
Analysis: Johnson has been sidelined for the past four games after being placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury Week 11. The 27-year-old will now have a 21-day window to return to practice before he has to be restored to the active roster, or else he'll shift back to IR for the remainder of the season. Shifts to IR
The Titans placed Johnson (hamstring) on injured reserve Thursday, Jim Wyatt of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Johnson sustained a hamstring injury during last Sunday's win over the Broncos, and the Titans consequently moved him to injured reserve Thursday. With the 27-year-old in line to miss at least the next four games and fellow safeties Amani Hooker (shoulder), A.J. Moore (ankle) and Josh Thompson (knee) all ruled out for Thursday night's matchup in Green Bay, Josh Kalu and Kevin Byard are slated to handle most of the safety reps in Week 11.

Won't play Week 11
Johnson (hamstring) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Packers, Turron Davenport of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Johnson was unable to return after exiting with a hamstring injury during Sunday's win over the Broncos. The 27-year-old was then sidelined for each practice ahead of Week 11, and his next chance to play will come against the Bengals on Sunday, Nov. 27. In Johnson's absence, Josh Kalu and Andrew Adams will serve as the Titans' only healthy safeties behind starter Kevin Byard.

Will not return
Johnson (hamstring) is out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Broncos, Jim Wyatt of the Titans' official site reports.

Analysis: Johnson was unable to participate in Sunday's home opener against the Giants due to a groin injury. The 26-year-old cornerback registered 55 tackles, six passes defended and three interceptions while starting seven of 14 games with Houston in 2021. Likely to start Sunday
Johnson is expected to serve as one of the Texans' starting cornerbacks in Sunday's game against the Jaguars, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.
Analysis: He'll be entering the starting lineup as a replacement for Terrance Mitchell (reserve/COVID-19 list) at a boundary corner spot. Johnson began the season as a safety for Houston, but he was moved to cornerback in mid-November after losing hold of a starting role at the former position. Johnson will shift back to cornerback beginning in Week 11, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.
Analysis: Johnson has been the starting strong safety for the Texans since Week 4 after Eric Murray was benched. Johnson, a cornerback by trade, has struggled at safety, and despite his three interceptions on the year, will be moved back to his natural position. Gets another INT
Johnson recorded four tackles, an interception and pass defended in Sunday's 25-22 loss to the Patriots.
Analysis: Johnson's interception was his second in as many weeks and of his career overall. Johnson recorded eight tackles (five solo), one pass breakup and one interception during Sunday's 40-0 loss to the Bills.
Analysis: Johnson intercepted quarterback Josh Allen on the Bills' first offensive play of the contest, but his play did little to create any momentum for the Texans in what quickly turned into a blowout loss. Johnson (thigh) is not listed on the Texans' injury report ahead of Sunday's game against the Browns.

Johnson (thigh) was listed as a limited participant in practice Wednesday.
Analysis: Johnson suffered a thigh injury in the Texans' preseason finale and was forced to miss the season opener against the Jaguars. Transitions to safety in 2020
Johnson transitioned from cornerback to safety in 2020 and finished with 76 tackles.
Analysis: Johnson, drafted as a cornerback in the second round of the 2019 draft, successfully transitioned to safety in 2020. He was the team's top-graded safety, per Pro Football Focus. Johnson moved into a full-time role after Justin Reid's season-ending thumb injury in Week 14 and didn't miss a snap over the final three games. Johnson recorded eight tackles (six solo) in Sunday's 26-20 loss to the Colts.

Dials up the blitz
Johnson had five tackles and two quarterback hits in Sunday's 27-20 win over the Patriots.
Analysis: Johnson worked effectively as a blitzer, getting to quarterback Cam Newton twice and forcing him to throw incomplete on a fourth down that sealed the win. The second-year backup safety plays all over the secondary for the Texans and has 32 tackles over 10 games while playing 51 percent of the snaps.

Solid effort in win
Johnson made six solo tackles -- one for a loss -- in Sunday's 27-25 win over the Jaguars.
Analysis: This was Johnson's second-highest snap share of the year, and he capitalized on the increased reps with a season high in tackles. Johnson's still behind starters Justin Reid and Eric Murray in terms of usage, so he'll be tough to depend on barring an injury to one of those two.

Expanding role
Johnson (illness) is expected to have a larger role Week 4 with A.J. Moore (hamstring) landing on injured reserve, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Johnson, who was a limited participant at Thursday's practice, filled in for Moore last Sunday and played a season-high 43 snaps (54 percent) in a loss to the Steelers. He's been the third safety to start the season but will see his role expand against the Cowboys, the league's top-ranked passing offense. Analysis: Johnson was Houston's second-round draft pick in 2019 and immediately stepped into a significant role. Unfortunately, as a rookie cornerback in the NFL, he did not deliver on the potential of a 54th-overall pick. Bradley Roby (hamstring) is a game-time call, so if he can't go Johnathan Joseph and Gareon Conley figure to start with Vernon Hargreaves and Keion Crossen rotating in.

Game-time decision
Johnson (foot) is a game-time decision ahead of Thursday's clash with the Colts, Aaron Reiss of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Johnson left Sunday's loss to Baltimore after suffering a foot injury in the third quarter. He did not return. Johnson certainly will need to get some amount of practice reps under his belt if he has any chance of facing the Colts on Thursday.

Leaves game Sunday
Johnson (foot) is questionable to return to Sunday's game against the Ravens.
Analysis: It's unclear how Johnson suffered the injury, but he was forced to leave the game in the third quarter. As long as he's sidelined, look for Gareon Conley and Keion Crossen to see an increase in depth snaps.

Clears protocol
Johnson did not appear on Wednesday's edition of the Week 11 injury report after passing a baseline neurological exam.
Analysis: Since suffering a concussion during Week 8's win over Oakland, Johnson has passed every phase of the NFL's concussion protocol, resulting in his omission from Wednesday's injury report for Week 11. The 24-year-old cornerback is on track to face Baltimore on Sunday.
