Held in check vs. Ravens
Allen completed 17 of 39 pass attempts for 146 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Ravens.
Analysis: Allen completed just 44 percent of his attempts en route to a miserable average of 3.7 yards per attempt. He also took six sacks on the day and his mark of nine rushing yards was his lowest of the season. On a positive note, Allen managed to avoid throwing an interception for the seventh time in the last eight games, though he did lose a fumble in the contest. He will face a tough task as he looks to get back on track next Sunday against the Steelers.

Efficient day in Dallas
Allen completed 19 of 24 passes for 231 yards and a touchdown while gaining 43 rushing yards and another TD on 10 carries in Thursday's 26-15 win over the Cowboys.
Analysis: With the Bills' defense keeping Dak Prescott in check, Allen was able to settle in and get comfortable, and he set season highs in completion percentage and YPA while scampering for his eighth rushing score of the year. Since Buffalo's Week 6 bye, Allen has turned a corner as a passer and posted a sharp 11:1 TD:INT through seven games, giving him plenty of momentum heading into next week's clash with Lamar Jackson and the Ravens.

Rumbles for two-touchdown game
Allen completed 15 of 25 passes for 185 yards, two touchdowns and an interception during Sunday's 20-3 win over Denver. He added 56 yards on nine carries.
Analysis: Allen relied heavily on his legs during the first half, converting a pair of third downs with long, scrambling runs. He was able to make more of a difference with his arm in the second half, including a game-sealing shot down the sideline to John Brown for a 34-yard touchdown to put the contest out of reach in the fourth quarter. Allen airmailed one second-quarter pass to snap a five-game interception-less streak, but overall, he's been a low-risk, solid reward quarterback since an uneven first…read more

Sets career mark in rating
Allen completed 21 of 33 passes for 256 yards and three touchdowns and added 56 yards and a touchdown on seven runs during Sunday's 37-20 win over Miami.
Analysis: After throwing two first-half touchdowns, Allen decided to get in on the action himself midway through the third quarter, scrambling outside and finding the edge for an eight-yard touchdown, his seventh rushing score of the season. Allen enjoyed a career-high 117.7 quarterback rating Sunday and accounted for four touchdowns for just the second time of his career. Perhaps most importantly for Buffalo's hopes of getting to the playoffs, the sophomore quarterback has been more careful with the…read more

Scores two rushing TDs
Allen completed 22 of 41 pass attempts for 266 yards while rushing six times for 28 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's 19-16 loss to the Browns.
Analysis: Allen's struggles with his accuracy continued, as he completed just 54 percent of his attempts on the day. He still managed to set a new career high in passing yardage thanks to some big plays while scoring rushing touchdowns in the second and fourth quarters to keep his team in the game. Allen has now accounted for two total touchdowns in each of the last five games, and he's turned the ball over just twice in that span. Scores twice in Week 9 win
Allen completed 14 of his 20 pass attempts, accounting for 160 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's 24-9 win against the Redskins. He also carried the ball eight times for 12 yards and a touchdown while fumbling twice, though neither was recovered by Washington.
Analysis: Sunday's performance marks the third time this year, and the seventh time since the start of last year, that Allen has tallied both a passing and rushing score in the same game. Allen's long-term success ultimately will be predicated on his ability to become more accurate as a thrower, making his Week 9 showing of zero turnovers and a 70 percent completion rate extremely encouraging. Upcoming in Week 10, Allen and the Buffalo passing attack will be facing off against a Browns defense that…read more

Inaccurate in Week 8 loss
Allen completed 16 of 34 passes for 169 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 31-13 loss to the Eagles. He also rushed eight times for 45 yards and fumbled three times, losing one.
Analysis: Allen delivered a 14-yard touchdown pass to Cole Beasley early in the second quarter and found Devin Singletary out of the backfield for a 28-yard score in the third, but he was otherwise inaccurate. Most of Allen's fantasy value lies in his legs, but it's worrisome that the previously vulnerable Eagles pass defense was able to limit him through the air. Allen hasn't thrown for more than 219 yards in any of his last four games, but he gets a nice opportunity to end the run of poor play when the…read more

Solid performance in Week 7 win
Allen completed 16 of 26 passes for 202 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions in the Bills' 31-21 win over the Dolphins on Sunday. He also rushed four times for 32 yards and notched a two-point conversion rush.
Analysis: Allen had a more difficult time than he likely imagined coming in, but he still managed to generate a fantasy-friendly line. The second-year signal-caller put together his first interception-free performance since Week 2, even as he took multiple sacks for the third consecutive game. Allen connected for both of his passing scores in the fourth quarter, hitting John Brown from 20 yards out to erase a 14-9 deficit and then coming back with a three-yard dart in the left side of the end zone to…read more

Sets completion percentage mark
Allen completed 23 of 32 passes for 219 yards, two touchdowns and an interception during Sunday's 14-7 win over the Titans. He added 27 yards on 10 carries on the ground.
Analysis: Allen was quiet for much of the first half before finding a wide-open Lee Smith off play action for an eight-yard touchdown right before halftime. Though the stats don't jump out at you, Allen's 71.9 percent completion rate was a career high for a game and he threw for multiple touchdowns for the first time this season. He remains dangerous with his legs, converting a game-winning third-down conversion with a boot-out. These small improvements can expand in Week 7 when the surprising 4-1 Bills…read more

Listed as active Sunday
Allen is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Titans.
Analysis: Allen cleared the NFL's concussion protocol Saturday, paving the way for him to handle the team's Week 5 QB duties. He's recorded an uninspiring 3:6 TD:INT to date, but Allen's activity as a rusher -- 31 carries for 131 yards and three TDs so far -- continues to prop up his fantasy profile.

Cleared from concussion protocol
Allen (concussion) was cleared from the concussion protocol and is expected to play Sunday against the Titans.
Analysis: While the Bills didn't outright say their starting quarterback would take the field, it certainly appears to be the case after Allen cleared concussion protocol. The second-year signal caller has already thrown an unruly six interceptions through four games, but his completion percentage is up to 60 percent compared to 53 percent last season, and he's easily on pace to set a new career high in terms of passing yards.

Questionable for Sunday
Allen (concussion) logged a full practice Friday but is considered questionable for Sunday's game in Tennessee.
Analysis: Allen still needs to be cleared to play in the game. That's no sure thing at this stage, though coach Sean McDermott says he's comfortable starting Allen -- even ahead of the team's Week 6 bye -- should the quarterback gain clearance from the concussion protocol.

Still in concussion protocol
Coach Sean McDermott said after Friday's practice that Allen remains in the concussion protocol, but noted that he would be comfortable starting the quarterback in the event he gains clearance before Sunday's game against Tennessee, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
Analysis: Allen practiced within the limitations of the protocol for the third straight day Friday, but fantasy managers needing to make a roster decision on the quarterback will have to wait for the next round of news. Fortunately, the Bills play in the first wave of games Sunday, so resolution on that front will come before the first game kicks off. Matt Barkley will lead the team if Allen is ultimately held out.

Remains limited in practice
Allen (concussion) was listed as a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
Analysis: The participation level represents no change to Allen's listing from Wednesday, indicating that he hasn't advanced to the fifth and final stage of the concussion protocol. According to Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com, Allen was mostly limited to throwing drills during Thursday's session, and coach Sean McDermott was unwilling to shed much light on the quarterback's potential to play Sunday in Tennessee. Allen (concussion) is participating in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: We have to assume he's participating to the level the league's concussion protocol allows, though Allen working with his teammates does suggest he remains on schedule with the protocol. Typically, players have to pass each of the stages with no delays in order to play the following week. Coach confirms concussion protocol
Coach Sean McDermott confirmed Monday that Allen is in the league's concussion protocol, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
Analysis: This was expected and even confirmed by other sources Sunday night after Allen took a shot to the head during the loss to the Patriots. Typically, players have to pass every step of the protocol on schedule to play in the team's next game if it's seven days away, and in the Bills' case they take on the Titans this Sunday. Matt Barkley would take over for Allen if that doesn't happen, while it's worth mentioning the Bills have a bye following the Titans game.

Allen is in the concussion protocol after suffering a hit during Sunday's 16-10 loss to the Patriots, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Allen suffered a helmet-to-helmet hit during Sunday's divisional contest and did not return to the game. He was replaced by Matt Barkley under center. Finally contained as rusher
Allen completed 23 of 36 passes for 243 yards, a touchdown, a two-point conversion and an interception in Sunday's 21-17 win over the Bengals. He rushed nine times for 46 yards and fumbled twice, but the ball was recovered by the offense both times.
Analysis: Allen opened the scoring with a one-yard touchdown to tight end Dawson Knox and added a two-point conversion to Cole Beasley. He also let the Bengals back into the game, as his third-quarter interception was returned to the 22-yard line, and Buffalo's 14-0 lead was cut in half three plays later. One passing TD, one rushing in win
Allen completed 19 of 30 passes for 253 yards and a touchdown while adding 21 yards and a touchdown on seven rushing attempts in Sunday's 28-14 win over the Giants.
Analysis: Allen found paydirt with his legs for the second straight week, this time doing so from six yards out on a designed quarterback sweep in the first quarter. He then got credited for a passing score on a touch pass to Isaiah McKenzie, which McKenzie proceeded to take 14 yards to the house. Allen completed 24 of 37 passes for 254 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in Sunday's 17-16 win over the Jets. He also rushed 10 times for 38 yards and a touchdown while fumbling twice and losing both.
Analysis: Allen turned it over four times in the first half. He fumbled on the opening drive and threw a pick-six on the second, then lost another fumble when he failed to handle a 4th-and-1 snap in the second quarter before throwing another interception on the following possession. OK against Detroit
Allen completed three of six passes for 49 yards and added 17 yards on two rushes during Friday's 24-20 preseason win over Detroit.
Analysis: The Bills' offense ran hot and cold Friday night, but Allen still managed to -- largely with the help of his veteran backfield -- lead two touchdown drives. Allen wasn't quite as sharp as he's been earlier in the preseason and benefited from a roughing the passer penalty that negated an interception. It was absolutely a tempering of what have become wild preseason expectations for Allen, but that might be a healthy development. Efficient in win
Allen completed nine of 11 passes for 102 yards during Friday's 27-14 preseason win over the Panthers.
Analysis: Allen hit on several nice passes early Friday, perhaps none as impressive as the 25-yard shot up the seam to tight end Tommy Sweeney to convert a third down on Buffalo's second-possession touchdown drive. As a rookie, Allen was able to get by on athleticism, but he seldom appeared in rhythm passing the ball like he was on Friday. He now has two strong preseason performances under his belt and appears set to surprise some doubters in 2019.

Sharp in preseason opener
Allen completed six of 11 attempts for 66 yards and rushed once for eight yards in the Bills' 24-16 preseason win over the Colts on Thursday.
Analysis: Allen started and helmed the Bills' first two drives, with the second culminating in a Steven Hauschka missed 34-yard field-goal attempt. There are naturally high expectations for the second-year gunslinger after he demonstrated plenty of progress as a passer over the final five games of 2018 and also posted four performances of 95 or more rushing yards during that stretch. Feeling 100 percent
Allen noted Tuesday that his throwing elbow feels perfectly fine entering offseason workouts, The Buffalo News reports. "No, no consideration. Obviously in the offseason, I met with [a physical trainer] to go over everything because it compounds throughout the season," Allen said. "I did some therapy on [the elbow] for the first couple weeks, and after that I started throwing. No problems at all."
Analysis: Allen missed four straight games with an elbow injury before returning to start the final six contests of his rookie season. Not only is Allen's health in good order, but the weak Buffalo offense received a major boost this offseason with the Bills getting heavily involved in free agency and making most of their moves on that side of the ball. Shoulder in good shape
General manager Brandon Beane confirmed this week that the shoulder injury that sidelined Allen for four games during his rookie season has completely healed and should not have any impact on the quarterback's offseason work, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Allen validated his health by concluding the season with a bang, throwing for three scores while running in another two in a big win over the Dolphins, taking home AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors in the process. While the big-armed Allen certainly had his ups and downs, he'll enter his second season with plenty of fantasy promise based on his ability to churn out yardage and scores on the ground. Runs wild as rookie
Allen completed 17 of 26 passes for 224 yards, three touchdowns and an interception in Sunday's 42-17 win over Miami. He also rushed nine times for 95 yards and two touchdowns, finishing his rookie campaign with 2,074 yards, 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions through the air, along with 89 carries for 631 yards and eight touchdowns.
Analysis: Allen was drafted in the first round thanks to his tremendous physical gifts, but his prolific rushing totals significantly surpassed expectations. If he ever figures out how to also pass effectively, the big-armed quarterback would become one of the most dangerous fantasy options at his position. Buffalo's goals this offseason should focus on surrounding Allen with significantly greater talent on offense.

Awful outside of garbage time TD
Allen completed 20 of 41 passes for 217 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions while rushing five times for 30 yards in Sunday's 24-12 loss to New England.
Analysis: The Patriots didn't give Allen much room to run, and his inaccurate arm couldn't move the offense through the air. Allen's stats in this one were bolstered by a 31-yard, garbage time touchdown to Zay Jones with 1:08 remaining, but he struggled mightily while the result was still in question. Allen completed 13 of 26 passes for 204 yards and a touchdown while adding 16 yards and a touchdown on nine carries in Sunday's 14-13 win over Detroit.
Analysis: Allen continued to do damage with his legs, finding paydirt on a three-yard scramble in the second quarter. His atrocious supporting cast got even worse as the game wore on, as the Bills were already without their top two running backs and also lost fill-in starter Marcus Murphy to a dislocated elbow. Allen completed 18 of 36 passes for 206 yards and two interceptions in Sunday's 27-23 loss to the Jets. He also rushed for 101 yards and a touchdown on nine carries, in addition to losing a fumble.
Analysis: Allen capped the opening drive with a six-yard rushing touchdown en route to 87 first-half rushing yards. The athletic rookie has bolstered his fantasy stock by piling up 335 yards on the ground over the past three games, but he's also averaging fewer than 200 passing yards and has more interceptions than touchdowns through the air over that span, leaving much to be desired with his play under center. Analysis: The rookie was spectacular with his legs, leading all rushers in ground yards by a comfortable margin while also putting up the second-highest passing yardage total of his career. Allen completed eight of 19 passes for 160 yards and a touchdown and added 99 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries during Sunday's 24-21 win over the Jaguars. He fumbled once, but the ball stayed with the offense.
Analysis: Allen did the bulk of his damage with his legs, but nobody is going to forget the 75-yard javelin-toss that he hit Robert Foster with late in the first quarter, putting Buffalo up by two scores early. It's hard to see what Allen's ceiling is this season for the Bills as there isn't a ton of talent along the line or at the skill positions. Begins week with full practice
Coach Sean McDermott said that Allen (elbow) will put in a full practice Monday and is on track to start the Bills' Week 12 game against the Jaguars, Mike Rodak of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: McDermott stressed that the coaching staff is taking it "one day at a time" with the rookie as he works back from a sprained right elbow, but Allen's full participation in practice coming out of the Bills' bye week offers further reassurance that he's trending positively in his recovery. Since the Bills won't release their first injury report of Week 12 until Wednesday, Allen will retain a designation for the time being, but the signal-caller looks poised to put a four-game absence to an end.…read more

Will start when healthy
Head coach Sean McDermott said Monday that Allen (elbow), if healthy, will return to the starting lineup Week 12 following Buffalo's Week 11 bye.
Analysis: Allen has been out of commission since Week 6 due to an elbow injury. With Derek Anderson (concussion) also unavailable and Nathan Peterman getting benched after throwing three picks against Chicago, the Bills turned to veteran Matt Barkley to command the offense for Sunday's 41-10 demolition of the Jets. However, despite Barkley's impressive play, Buffalo is still committed to Allen's development, and it's now clear that the rookie will get as many reps as his health will allow. Fortunately,…read more

Week 12 start not guaranteed
Coach Sean McDermott says he's undecided on his Week 12 starting quarterback after Allen's (elbow) teammate Matt Barkley led the Bills to a surprise win Sunday over the Jets, Kyle Silagyi of the Bills' official site reports. "Yeah, give me some time here on that," McDermott said. "We'll reassess [Monday] when we get in and look at the film. I'm just proud of the guys, really, the way they battled [Sunday]. The week before the bye, in particular, to be focused and come out with that type of energy says a lot about them."
Analysis: Allen, who's now missed four games after suffering an elbow injury in the Week 6 loss to the Texans, was close to being ready for Sunday's start, but the team decided to play it safe and roll with the journeyman Barkley, who tossed for 232 yards and two touchdowns (no interceptions) with an impressive 9.3 yards per attempt. Make no mistake, Allen is the long-term starter, but the Buffalo offense showed a spark for one of the only times all season Sunday, with Barkley looking more polished than…read more

Expected to return Week 12
Allen (elbow) is expected to return following the Bills' Week 11 bye, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Allen maintained a limited listing on Bills injury reports all week, earning a "questionable" tag Friday. Just one day later, though, the Bills ruled out the rookie signal-caller due to his sprained right elbow. Allen will join Derek Anderson (concussion) on the inactive list Sunday against the Jets, giving Matt Barkley a chance to start for the first time since 2016, with Nathan Peterman acting as the backup. Allen will use the upcoming bye to get even healthier in order to make an appearance…read more

Ruled out for Sunday
Allen (elbow) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jets.
Analysis: Allen managed to practice in a limited capacity all week and was initially listed as questionable following Friday's practice, but the rookie signal-caller evidently isn't healthy enough to start Sunday's game, or at least the Bills don't want to put their franchise quarterback at risk with a bye coming up. This opens the door for the recently-signed Matt Barkley to make his first NFL start since 2016. Nathan Peterman is expected to act as Barkley's backup while Allen will aim to return to…read more

Questionable for Sunday
Allen (elbow) is listed as questionable for Sunday's road game against the Jets.
Analysis: Allen was a limited practice participant all week, marking his first activity since spraining his right throwing elbow Week 6. With a "questionable" tag for the Bills' upcoming visit to New York, he has a chance to return, though coach Sean McDermott told Joe Buscaglia of WKBW.com that the rookie's health is paramount, suggesting his status will come down to a game-time decision. The Bills have ruled out Derek Anderson (concussion), so the remaining quarterback options for this contest -- if…read more

Will be limited Friday
Head coach Sean McDermott said Friday morning that Allen (elbow) will be limited at the Bills' final practice session of the week, Mike Rodak of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Allen will get some work in for the third straight day, which bodes well for his chances of returning to action this week. However, McDermott did not commit to Allen starting just yet, and indicated the focus remains on Allen's health. Fellow quarterback Derek Anderson (concussion) has been ruled out for Week 10, so if Allen remains sidelined, either Nathan Peterman or even Matt Barkley, according to Joe Buscaglia of WKBW.com, will get the nod instead.

Turns in another limited practice
Allen (elbow) was listed as a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
Analysis: According to Matthew Fairburn of The Athletic, Allen continued to sport a protective brace over his sprained right elbow, which has kept him out of action the last two games. There seems to be more optimism about Allen's health this week after he was able to practice on back-to-back days in limited fashion, leaving the door open for him to potentially start Sunday against the Jets. In order for that to be realistic, however, Allen will likely need to fit in more work in full team drills, as he…read more

Making progress in recovery
After practicing in limited fashion Wednesday, Allen (elbow) relayed that he's "still taking it day to day" as Sunday's game against the Jets approaches, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports. "Just trying to work [through] if there's any soreness or stiffness and just trying to get back in the swing of playing football again," Allen said. "I was limited at practice, but it felt good throwing the ball."
Analysis: Per Brown, Allen "appears to have an outside chance at returning to the lineup Sunday." That implies the Bills will take a cautious approach with him, which makes sense with a Week 11 bye looming. Meanwhile, fellow signal-caller Derek Anderson remains in the NFL's concussion protocol and didn't practice Wednesday, leaving the struggling Nathan Peterman as the team's top healthy option at the position.

Back at practice
Coach Sean McDermott said that Allen (elbow) would practice Wednesday on a limited basis. "We haven't seen any setbacks in [Allen's] rehab but we're going to take it one day at a time," McDermott said of the quarterback's Week 10 outlook.
Analysis: The wheels have been coming off for the 2-7 Bills and their offense has been a laughingstock for weeks. If the team truly wants to play it safe with the prized rookie, then it would probably prefer to hold Allen out until Nov. 25 against the Jaguars, as a Week 11 bye would offer the quarterback additional time to recuperate. That said, the whole squad is getting frustrated after three straight games of single-digit point totals and there's something to be said about getting Allen as much…read more

Possibility for Week 10
Allen (elbow) threw again Monday, and afterwards coach Sean McDermott said, "We're going to take it day to day at this point in terms of his availability for this week," Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
Analysis: McDermott won't make any promises about Allen's status for Sunday's game against the Jets, but he's leaving open the possibility while also noting that the team gets a bye in Week 11 should it choose to be extra cautious. Either way, it looks like the Bills will get their potential franchise quarterback back in one of the next two games. While he's struggled at times in his first campaign, Allen has already proven to be a vastly better option than Derek Anderson (concussion) or Nathan Peterman.

Getting closer?
Allen's threw for the second straight Saturday, the first time he's done so on back-to-back days since suffering his elbow injury. Coach Sean McDermott says he has not yet ruled Allen out for next week's game against the Jets and will evaluate the rookie all week, Joe Buscaglia of WKBW.com reports.
Analysis: After watching Nathan Peterman and Derek Anderson struggle miserably the past three games, Allen can't come back soon enough, though the Bills could always play it safe with a bye coming up in Week 11. We'll know more about Allen once practice starts up for the struggling Bills on Wednesday.

Ruled out, but logs limited practice
Allen (elbow), who has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Bears, logged a limited practice Friday, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
Analysis: Allen's return to a limited practice suggests that he could return as soon as the Bills' Week 10 game against the Jets. Alternatively, if the Bills elect to take things slow with the rookie quarterback, Allen could be held out through the team's Week 11 bye. As for Sunday's game, with Derek Anderson still in the NFL's concussion protocol, Nathan Peterman is trending toward earning the starting nod.

Still out Sunday, but sports helmet Friday
Allen (elbow) was spotted wearing a helmet at Friday's practice, Joe Buscaglia of WKBW.com reports.
Analysis: Allen has already been ruled out for Sunday's matchup with the Bears, but it's notable that he had his helmet on for the first time since injuring his right elbow in Week 6. That indicates he's making progress in his recovery and could have a chance to return to action Week 10 against the Jets. However, the Bills are on bye in Week 11, so unless he makes rapid progress over the next few days, it seems likely Allen will be held out at least until Week 12. Either Derek Anderson -- if he clears…read more

Could resume throwing soon
Coach Sean McDermott relayed Thursday that Allen (elbow) resuming throwing "isn't too far off," Joe Buscaglia of WKBW.com reports.
Analysis: Allen is not an option for Sunday's game against the Bears, at a minimum, but the 2-6 Bills could really use a spark on offense and getting the rookie QB some additional game experience once he's healthy is in the team's best interests. Looking ahead, the Bills may elect to hold Allen out through the team's Week 11 bye and see where he's at as a Nov. 25 match against the Jaguars approaches. For now, it looks like Nathan Peterman is line to start for the team this weekend, with Derek Anderson…read more
