Case Keenum replaced him late once the game was out of hand, but Mayfield was previously able to play through the injury, which bodes well for his potential availability against the Broncos on Thursday.

Comes up short in wild loss

Mayfield completed 23 of 32 passes for 305 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's 47-42 loss to the Chargers. He added eight yards on two carries.

Analysis: The fourth-year quarterback put together his most productive game of the year, tossing multiple TDs for the first time in five games while topping 300 yards for the second time, but Mayfield's numbers were still dwarfed by Justin Herbert's five-TD effort. Analysis: Mayfield appeared to hit his hand or thumb on a helmet, per Pat McManamon of The Athletic, which led to the QB's exit from the contest. As a result, Garrett Gilbert finished up the second quarter in place of Mayfield.

Mayfield completed 24 of 34 pass attempts for 327 yards, three touchdowns and one interception during Sunday's 41-24 win over the Dolphins.

Analysis: Mayfield completed an impressive 71 percent of his throws while averaging 9.6 yards per attempt. He completed a pair of short touchdown passes to Jarvis Landry sandwiched around a 35-yard strike to Odell Beckham Jr. Mayfield now has eight total touchdowns over the last three games while throwing just one interception during that span. He's topped the 300-yard mark three times this season, equalling his total from last year, and he'll look to keep it rolling next Sunday against the Steelers.
