Finds end zone vs. Redskins
Samuel caught four of seven targets for 65 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 29-21 loss to the Redskins.
Analysis: Samuel finished behind only D.J. Moore in receiving yards while recording his third-best output of the season in that category. He scored a four-yard touchdown in the first quarter, giving him four trips to the end zone in the last seven games. Samuel also ripped off a 33-yard gain, which was his fourth reception of at least 30 yards this season. He will look to build on this successful outing next Sunday against the Packers.

Puts in full practice Thursday
Samuel (knee) practiced fully Thursday, Alaina Getzenberg of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Analysis: Limited by a knee injury at Wednesday's session, Samuel was back to full capacity one day later. He has yet to surpass 100 yards from scrimmage in a given game this season, but typically he's been good for 40-plus such yards, which he's done seven times in 11 contests.

Limited in practice Wednesday
Samuel was limited in Wednesday's practice due to a knee injury, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Samuel appears to have picked up the injury during Sunday's loss to the Saints. There's not yet any reason to worry about the 23-year-old's availability for the Week 13 tilt with Washington, but his participation in practice the next two days will be worth monitoring nonetheless. Samuel has logged three straight games with fewer than 40 receiving yards, but he's set for a favorable matchup against Washington's secondary if healthy.

Trending in wrong direction
Samuel caught just one of four targets for nine yards but added 40 yards on four carries in Sunday's 34-31 loss to the Saints.
Analysis: Samuel took a back seat to Christian McCaffrey and D.J. Moore, who scored two touchdowns apiece. His involvement on some running plays was nice, but Samuel has now seen his receiving yardage total trend south for three consecutive games. Luckily, he'll have a nice opportunity to reverse that trend in Week 13 with the vulnerable Redskins secondary coming to town.

Held in check by Falcons secondary
Samuel caught four of seven targets for 25 receiving yards during Sunday's 29-3 loss to Atlanta.
Analysis: When it comes to Samuel's value, the equation for verifying whether he was a worthwhile start in a given week boils down to whether or not he got into the end zone. In four contests this season in which Samuel has scored a touchdown, he has accounted for four receptions and 55.5 yards per game. In six outings without a score, however, he's been held to just 3.7 receptions and 40.7 yards, while only exceeding the 50-yard mark once. The workload has been there to justify him as a weekly starting…read more

Hauls in touchdown
Samuel caught four of eight targets for 35 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 24-16 loss to the Packers.
Analysis: Samuel opened the scoring with a two-yard touchdown midway through the first quarter, now giving him four end-zone trips over his last four games. The wideout also has posted two of his three best yardage totals of the campaign over that same span, boosting his value at an important time in the season. Next up for Samuel is a home date against the Falcons, whose defense has widely underwhelmed despite playing surprisingly well Week 10 versus the Saints.

Cleared for Sunday
Samuel (hamstring) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game in Green Bay.
Analysis: Held out of Wednesday's practice, Samuel returned Thursday and Friday as a full participant. He should be ready for his usual role Sunday against the Packers, facing a secondary that has a pair of starters -- Adrian Amos (hamstring) and Jaire Alexander (groin) -- listed as questionable.

Back to full participation
Samuel (hamstring) practiced in full Thursday, Brendan Marks of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Analysis: Samuel appears to be good to go for Week 10 after logging an absence at Wednesday's session. While Sunday's opponent (the Packers) has given up nearly 10 yards per target to wide receivers this season, the unit is tied for the fifth-fewest touchdowns allowed to the position (five) through nine contests.

Dealing with hamstring injury
Samuel (hamstring) didn't practice Wednesday, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Samuel was plagued by a hamstring issue during his first offseason program and preseason in 2017, and while he missed 10 combined games due to other injuries during his first two seasons, he hasn't missed any action in the current campaign. He'll have two more sessions this week to prove the health of his hamstring before the Panthers head to Green Bay for a Week 10 matchup.

Finds end zone
Samuel hauled in three of his six targets for 64 yards and a touchdown in Week 9 against the Titans. He also added one rush for 10 yards.
Analysis: Samuel saw limited volume, but he made the most of his opportunities by turning in multiple big plays. The first came on a 32-yard reception down the right sideline late in the first quarter, but his biggest contribution came just before halftime when he found the end zone on a 12-yard reception. Though he's surpassed 70 receiving yards just once this season, Samuel has seen at least six targets in every game but Week 1.

Suiting up Week 9
Samuel (shoulder) is listed as active Sunday versus the Titans, Brendan Marks of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Analysis: After putting in a DNP/FP/DNP practice regimen this week, Samuel will tough out his shoulder injury and continue to serve as one of the Panthers' starting wide receivers. He has a fair matchup on tap against a Tennessee defense that has allowed 8.4 yards per target and six touchdowns to wideouts through eight games.

Listed as questionable
Samuel (shoulder) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Titans, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Samuel didn't practice Wednesday or Friday, but he was a full participant Thursday. While the unusual sequence might lead to some concern, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic relays that Samuel is expected to play in Sunday's game. A 1 p.m. ET kickoff is good news for fantasy managers, allowing for plenty of alternatives if Samuel unexpectedly ends up on the inactive list.

Not practicing Friday
Samuel didn't practice Friday as a result of his shoulder injury, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Samuel was a full participant at Thursday's practice after being held out the day before, but he's not out of the woods with his injury just yet. The Panthers will reveal Samuel's official status for the Week 9 game against the Titans when they release their final injury report later Friday.

Full participant Thursday
Samuel (shoulder) practiced fully Thursday, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Samuel's reps were capped at Wednesday's session, the result of the wide receiver laying out for a reception this past Sunday in San Francisco, according to Steve Reed of the Associated Press. With his bump to full participant Thursday, Samuel's injury has proved to be a minor one as the Panthers prepare for Sunday's matchup with the Titans' 16th-ranked pass defense (239.1 yards per game).

Nursing shoulder injury
Samuel didn't practice Wednesday due to a shoulder injury, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Samuel picked up the shoulder issue during the Week 8 loss to the 49ers, according to Steve Reed of the Associated Press. The third-year wideout will have two more opportunities to return to practice before Sunday's tilt against the Titans. If Samuel were forced to miss any time, Jarius Wright would likely start opposite D.J. Moore.

Top receiver on slow passing day
Samuel caught four of 11 targets for 46 yards during Sunday's 51-13 loss to the 49ers.
Analysis: The 23-year-old wideout has been a largely inefficient player this season when garnering a massive workshare, as he has established a catch rate of 44.7 percent in four games with at least seven targets. Samuel is typically a profitable fantasy play when he gets into the end zone, but in his five outings this season when he does not score, Samuel is averaging just 3.6 catches and 44 receiving yards per game. In end zone twice during win
Samuel secured four of six targets for 70 yards and a touchdown in the Panthers' 37-26 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday. He also rushed once for eight yards and another score.
Analysis: The speedster turned in a fantasy-friendly effort across the pond in London, scoring on an eight-yard run and 13-yard reception in the third and fourth quarters, respectively. Samuel checked in behind only D.J. Moore in receptions and receiving yardage for the afternoon, and he's now seen at least six targets in five consecutive contests. Samuel will look to continue his solid play at the expense of the 49ers in Week 8 following a Week 7 bye.

Limited to 44 total yards
Samuel hauled in three of his seven targets for 19 yards in Week 5 against the Jaguars. He also added two rushes for 25 yards.
Analysis: Samuel's longest reception on the day went for just seven yards, though he was able to break free a bit for a 16-yard run. His involvement in the passing game is a concern with Kyle Allen under center, as Samuel's longest reception from Allen in three contests is just 15 yards. All told, he's averaging just 9.5 yards per reception in the absence of Cam Newton, holding him back from the breakout season that was widely expected. Gets day of rest Wednesday
Samuel sat out Wednesday's practice for maintenance purposes, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.

Not at practice
Samuel isn't practicing Wednesday, Max Henson of the Panthers' official site reports.
Analysis: Samuel is presumably dealing with an injury, though nothing on that front was reported after Sunday's 16-10 win over the Texans. He played 90 percent of the offensive snaps in the contest, catching three of seven targets for 32 yards.

Modest output in win
Samuel hauled in three of seven targets for 32 yards and rushed once for one yard in the Panthers' 16-10 win over the Texans on Sunday.
Analysis: Samuel's catch rate left something to be desired as he saw his throws from the arm of second-year quarterback Kyle Allen. The speedster did check in tops in targets among Panthers wideouts, but both his receptions and receiving yardage tied season lows. The 2017 second-round pick's production may continue to fluctuate as long as Allen remains under center, and he'll look to boost his overall production against the Jaguars in Week 5.

Reaches end zone in win
Samuel caught five of seven targets for 53 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 38-20 win over the Cardinals.
Analysis: The seven targets tied Greg Olsen for the team lead, and Samuel appeared to be the preferred option for quarterback Kyle Allen on intermediate routes; his longest catch went for 15 yards. Unlike D.J. Moore, who saw his target volume crater without Cam Newton (foot) under center, Samuel retained a significant role as Allen spread the ball around to seven different receivers. Struggles with catch rate
Samuel brought in four of 12 targets for 82 yards and rushed once for two yards in the Panthers' 20-14 loss to the Buccaneers on Thursday.
Analysis: Samuel saw his targets rise sharply from the scant four he'd logged against the Rams just four days earlier, and his 20.5 YPC paced both squads on the night. Additionally, Samuel was also an integral part of the Panthers' final drive, making grabs of 24 and nine yards while also drawing a face mask penalty on the latter catch. Just four targets
Samuel caught three of four targets for 32 yards in Sunday's 30-27 loss to the Rams.
Analysis: Samuel played over 90 percent of Carolina's offensive snaps, which is an encouraging sign despite him placing fourth on the team in targets. As the starter opposite D.J. Moore at receiver, his involvement will hopefully result in more looks Thursday against the Buccaneers.

Hauls in two passes
Samuel caught two of his three targets for 16 yards in Thursday night's 10-3 preseason loss to the Patriots.
Analysis: Samuel's first catch came from Cam Newton on Carolina's third offensive series. The starting wideout didn't play much after, but he should now be ready for the regular season. With Newton suffering an ankle sprain, however, Samuel will hope his signal-caller is fully healthy in time for Week 1.

Gains 13 yards in loss
Samuel caught one of three targets for 13 yards during Friday's 27-14 preseason loss to Buffalo.
Analysis: Starter Kyle Allen tried to get into rhythm with Samuel, the junior receiver serving as the first target on two of the Panthers' first three drives. Though reports out of camp are stellar, it's difficult to evaluate Samuel in game situations without Cam Newton throwing the passes. That sets the stage for Thursday in New England, during which Samuel's potential for the 2019 season should become clearer.

Finishes camp strong
Samuel was the best player on offense throughout Panthers training camp, according to Brendan Marks of The Charlotte Observer.
Analysis: There's no objective way to keep track, but Samuel seems to be pushing toward an all-time record for the most media hype any player has received by mid-August. The words have been backed by a regular stream of videos that show him burning defenders, and coach Ron Rivera said the young wideout is "light years ahead" of where he was the past couple years. Continues to impress
Samuel has been a consistent standout to start training camp, Bill Voth of the Panthers' official site reports.
Analysis: Samuel was noted as one of Carolina's best players during minicamp and has continued to build on that momentum lately. Thanks to regular highlight plays, Samuel's confidence is high as he approaches his third season. As long as he avoids the injury setbacks he endured his first couple campaigns, Samuel seems poised for his best year yet, as he's pegged to start alongside D.J. Moore in a much faster Panthers receiving corps this season.

Samuel stood out as one of the Panthers' best players at mandatory minicamp, Brendan Marks of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Analysis: Samuel is enjoying his first healthy offseason in the NFL after battling a series of injuries the past two years. He worked his way into a starting job by the end of last season, averaging 7.6 yards on 65 targets and 10.5 yards on eight carries, with seven touchdowns on just 47 touches in 13 games. Role grows in second season
Samuel finished the 2018 regular season with 39 catches on 65 targets for 494 yards and five touchdowns in 13 games played. He also rushed eight times for 84 yards and two more scores.
Analysis: Samuel's rookie season was hindered by injuries, and although he missed a few games again this time around, he became a bigger factor in Carolina's offense over the course of the campaign. The 2017 second-rounder scored four times through his first six appearances, including twice on the ground, evidencing his upside as a gadget player. Makes seven catches
Samuel caught seven of 13 targets for 41 yards during Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Falcons.
Analysis: Samuel tied for the team lead in targets while finishing with a new career high in catches. Unfortunately, most of his looks came around the line of scrimmage and he finished averaging just 5.9 yards per catch. Samuel has enjoyed an uptick in production down the stretch, averaging 4.5 catches and 56.5 receiving yards per game. Catches one pass
Samuel caught one of four targets for 17 yards and rushed twice for eight yards in Monday night's 12-9 loss to the Saints.
Analysis: Samuel's performance was reflective of Carolina's struggles through the air Monday, when quarterback Cam Newton finished with a season-low 131 passing yards. In fact, besides backfield dynamo Christian McCaffrey, only rarely used tight end Chris Manhertz hit 50 receiving yards, and that actually entirely came thanks to a touchdown pass from McCaffrey himself. Leading receiver in Week 14 loss
Samuel caught four of eight targets for a team-leading 80 yards in Sunday's 26-20 loss to the Browns.
Analysis: Samuel's coming into his own late in his second season, with 168 receiving yards over the past two weeks. While he doesn't have a touchdown over this strong recent stretch, Samuel does have six total scores (four receiving, two rushing) this season. Deep-league owners could do much worse than Samuel with Carolina set to host the Saints in Week 15.

Sets career high in receiving yards
Samuel caught six of 11 targets for 88 yards and carried one time for an additional eight yards during Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Buccaneers.
Analysis: Samuel led the team in targets and catches while notching a new career high in receiving yards. He recorded a long gain of 31 yards and made several catches around the line of scrimmage that could have turned into bigger gains. Samuel shined as the team lost Greg Olsen (foot) and eased Devin Funchess (back) back into the lineup, and he now has a touchdown or 96 scrimmage yards in four of his last five games. Samuel (hamstring) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Samuel's absence from Wednesday's session came as a surprise after there was no indication he got banged up in the Panthers' Week 12 loss to the Seahawks, during which he played a season-high 54 offensive snaps. Dealing with hamstring injury
Samuel was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice due to a hamstring injury, Max Henson of the Panthers' official site reports.
Analysis: Despite a relative lack of touches -- 24 in eight games -- Samuel has reached the end zone six times this season. Injuries have plagued him from time to time during the first two years of his career, though, so it behooves the Panthers to proceed with caution with Samuel's health. With a matchup against the sieve-like Buccaneers defense on tap Sunday, his status will be worth watching as the weekend draws closer.

Scores in second straight contest
Samuel nabbed both of his targets for 17 yards and a touchdown and gained 25 yards on his lone carry in Sunday's 30-27 loss to the Seahawks.
Analysis: Samuel started alongside D.J. Moore and Torrey Smith at receiver with No. 1 wideout Devin Funchess (back) sidelined and played 54 of 59 offensive snaps (92 percent). The increased usage didn't translate to an abundance of targets, but Samuel made the most of three touches he did get, as he left Seattle cornerback Shaq Griffin in the dust on his seven-yard touchdown grab in the second quarter and put his wheels on display again with the 25-yard scamper. Coughs it up
Samuel caught all four of his targets for 18 yards in Week 10's loss to the Steelers. He also rushed once for one yard and lost a fumble on a kickoff return.
Analysis: Samuel, like most of his offensive teammates outside of Christian McCaffrey, couldn't get much going on the night.
