Catches on with Giants
Ross (foot) has signed a one-year, $2.5 million deal with the Giants, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Per the report, $1 million of the wideout's deal is guaranteed. Assuming he's past the foot issue that derailed his 2020 campaign, the 2017 first-rounder will add some much-needed speed to the Giants' pass-catching corps. Ross has much to prove after faltering during his four-year tenure with the Bengals, but when healthy, the 25-year-old has the wheels to serve as a big play threat. With a fresh start in New York, a 2021 bounce-back is plausible.

Lands on IR
The Bengals have placed Ross (foot) on injured reserve, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.
Analysis: Ross has not played since Week 6 due to a variety of issues. He will now be sidelined at least the next three games. It has been rumored that the 24-year-old and 2017 first-round pick could be transitioned into cornerback due to the team's lack of depth at the position. However, for now he will simply focus on his foot recovery.

Not moving to corner
Ross (foot) never actually practiced at cornerback and only discussed moving to the position with the Bengals' coaching staff, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: This follows an initially incorrect report by Garafolo that Ross had actually injured his foot while practicing at cornerback. The Bengals' dire need to provide depth at cornerback at least allowed them to broach the conversation with the 24-year-old, but no positional move appears to be imminent, especially after Ross suffered a foot injury, which will keep him out for Week 10 and potentially future weeks.

Injured transitioning to corner
Ross, who will not play in Week 10 after injuring his foot, was practicing at cornerback when he suffered the injury, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: The 2017 first-round pick has not played more than one offensive snap since Week 3, so the Bengals attempted to have their speedy wideout essentially act as an emergency cornerback considering the team's lack of depth after injuries and COVID-19 have ruled out four corners entering Week 10. It would have been interesting to see if this was simply a one-week deal or if the Bengals truly planned to convert Ross to a different position, but it's a moot point after the 24-year-old injured his foot…read more

Ruled out for Week 10
Ross (foot) is ruled out for Sunday's game against the Steelers, Jay Morrison of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Ross hasn't suited up for game action since Week 6. The 2017 first-round pick is now dealing with a foot injury, but even if he does get healthy soon, it seems unlikely that he'll be a notable factor on offense behind Tyler Boyd, A.J. Green and Tee Higgins.

Shakes off ailment
Ross (illness) was absent from Wednesday's injury report, Jay Morrison of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Ross missed Week 8 against Tennessee with the illness, but coming out of the team's bye week it appears he's returned to full strength. The 2017 first-round pick has seen himself slide down the receiver depth chart in Cincinnati, and with the position group led by Tyler Boyd, A.J. Green and Tee Higgins, Ross' return likely won't affect the offense too much.

Out Week 8 with illness
Ross (illness) is listed as inactive Week 8 against Tennessee, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.
Analysis: No surprises here, as Ross entered Week 8 with a "doubtful" tag after missing practice sessions both Thursday and Friday. The position group will be led by Tyler Boyd, A.J. Green and Tee Higgins, as has been the case most weeks this season, even if Ross were healthy and active.

Officially doubtful for Week 8
Ross (illness) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Titans, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.
Analysis: Ross began the week as a full participant in practice, but he was then held out of Thursday's session. It looks as though the 2017 first-round pick, who has already been relegated to a depth role on offense, is trending in the wrong direction for Sunday's contest.

Clear of illness
Ross (illness) was a full practice participant Wednesday, Jay Morrison of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The 2017 was inactive for Sunday's loss to the Browns with an illness, but he's back in action at practice Wednesday with no limitations. Ross hasn't had much of a role for the Bengals this season, and he reportedly talked to the team earlier in October about being traded.

Inactive Sunday
Ross (illness) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Browns, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.
Analysis: Ross has been an afterthought in the Bengals offense thus far, with the 2017 first-rounder having logged just two catches on seven targets for 17 yards in three games played. The team's wide receiver corps is currently headed by A.J. Green, Tyler Boyd and Tee Higgins.

Deemed questionable with illness
The Bengals list Ross as questionable for Sunday's game against the Browns with an illness, Tyler Dragon of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Analysis: Ross previously sat out the Bengals' Week 5 loss to Baltimore with a non-COVID-19-related illness, so he could be dealing with a recurrence of the same ailment. Despite his designation, the wideout doesn't appear in danger of missing the Week 7 contest for health reasons, as coach Zac Taylor told Ben Baby of ESPN.com that he expects to full roster to be available Sunday minus cornerback William Jackson (concussion) and running back Joe Mixon (foot), who have already been ruled out. Wants out of Cincinnati
Ross has talked to the Bengals about being traded, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: The 2017 first-round pick has yet to find his footing in Cincinnati, largely due to injuries, and he's now nearly halfway through his fourth pro season. Ross was active Sunday against the Colts, marking the first time he'd suited up since Week 2. Per Garafolo, Ross approached the team recently about a trade and wants a fresh start elsewhere. The NFL trade deadline is Nov. 3, which gives the Bengals two weeks to gauge the receiver's trade value.

Finally active again
Ross is active for Sunday's conference tilt against the Colts, his first time enjoying that status since the Bengals' Week 2 loss to the Browns.
Analysis: Ross has fallen out of favor with the Bengals' coaching staff, relegated to a healthy scratch on occasion this season. However, Auden Tate is inactive this week, opening a tiny window for Ross to make another impression.

Cleared of illness
Ross (illness) doesn't appear on Wednesday's injury report, Jay Morrison of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Ross missed the Bengals' Week 5 loss to the Ravens because of an illness, but after sitting out the preceding two games in coach's decisions, he likely would have been inactive even if he was fully healthy. Now that he's shaken the illness, the 2017 first-round pick should be available Sunday against the Colts, and the Bengals could need him to suit up with the health of fellow wideouts A.J. Green (hamstring) or Auden Tate (shoulder) in question for Week 6.

Inactive Sunday
Ross (illness) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Ravens, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.
Analysis: The 2017 first-rounder pick had been a healthy scratch of late, so his Week 5 absence won't have a great impact on the team's Week 5 passing attack. The Bengals' wide receiver corps is currently headed by A.J. Green, Tyler Boyd and Tee Higgins.

Doubtful for Week 5
Ross is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game in Baltimore with an illness, Tyler Dragon of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
Analysis: Ross has missed back-to-back practices due to the illness. The 2017 first-round pick had been a healthy scratch for two straight contests, so even if Ross manages to fully recover before Sunday's game, he may not suit up.

Takes a seat Week 3
Ross (coach's decision) is inactive Week 3 at Philadelphia, Marisa Contipelli of the Bengals' official site reports.
Analysis: This may seem surprising on the surface given the fantasy buzz that Ross has gained in the past, but after going without a catch in Week 2 and seeing his snap count cut in half, the writing was on the wall for a potential scratch. A.J. Green and Tyler Boyd will presumably continue to lead the position group for the Bengals, but the absence of Ross will allow Tee Higgins to draw the start.

No receptions in Week 2
Ross didn't haul in either of his two targets in Thursday's 35-30 loss to the Browns.
Analysis: Ross logged just 30 percent of the team's offensive snaps in Week 2, ranking fifth among Bengals wideouts and behind even Mike Thomas. Considering it took just one game for rookie Tee Higgins to secure a top-three role, Ross could be pushed out of the gameplans moving forward.

Grabs just two passes Sunday
Ross caught two of five targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 16-13 loss to the Chargers.
Analysis: Ross couldn't replicate last year's Week 1 magic, and this was his lowest yardage total in a single game since 2018. Rookie QB Joe Burrow spread the ball around Sunday, targeting five players five or more times, so it's encouraging that Ross is at least in the mix to begin the season. Ross will look to capitalize on those opportunities in Thursday's matchup against the Browns.

Ross (arm) is not listed on Wednesday's injury report.
Analysis: Ross suffered an arm injury in training camp roughly two weeks ago, but he's managed to shed the issue in time to begin the regular season at full health. The 2017 first-round pick is listed wideout behind A.J. Green and Tyler Boyd on Cincinnati's first unofficial depth chart, per Ben Baby of ESPN.com. Analysis: Though Ross has missed time in camp after being placed on the reserve/COVID-19 injured list in August before picking up an arm injury just under two weeks ago, the Bengals still seemingly favor him for the No. 3 role over rookie second-round pick Tee Higgins and holdovers Auden Tate and Alex Erickson. Scrimmage absence precautionary
Coach Zac Taylor said Ross (arm) was held out of Sunday's scrimmage as a precaution, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Ross warmed up for Sunday's scrimmage and dressed as if he intended to play, but he was ultimately restricted to the sideline. It's reassuring that the speedster's absence wasn't an indication that he'd aggravated his arm injury. With just two weeks remaining until the season opener Sept. 13 versus the Chargers, the Bengals appear to be simply taking a cautious approach to Ross' health.

Ross (arm) is dressed for Sunday's scrimmage but will not participate, Tyler Dragon of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Not participating in scrimmage
Updating an earlier report, Ross (arm) dressed for Sunday's scrimmage and warmed up but ultimately did not participate, Tyler Dragon of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Ready to play Sunday
Ross (arm) is dressed for Sunday's scrimmage and appears ready to play, Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site reports.
Analysis: Ross was pointing in this direction with his work on the side earlier this week. Activated from COVID list
The Bengals activated Ross from the reserve/COVID-19 list Sunday.
Analysis: Ross left the team to care for his young son and the child's mother, who both tested positive for COVID-19. The 24-year-old wide receiver has completed the necessary protocols to return to the team, however, and he'll start competing for a starting role. Compared to last year, there's added competition from rookie second-round pick Tee Higgins (hamstring) and veteran A.J. Green (hamstring), but both of those injuries could open the door for Ross to make an impact in his first practice back.

Goes on COVID list
The Bengals placed Ross (illness) on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Ross left Cincinnati to care for his young son and the child's mother after the pair both tested positive for COVID-19. Ross' listing doesn't necessarily mean he's tested positive himself, but his mere presence with infected family members is enough to force the Bengals' hand. Ross will not have his fifth-year option picked up by the Bengals, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Ross has played just 24 of 48 eligible games since being drafted No. 9 overall by the Bengals in the 2017 NFL Draft due to a number of injuries, so it doesn't come as much surprise to see Ross fail to receive the fifth-year option. Facing added competition
Ross is facing added competition for targets now that the Bengals added Tee Higgins with the first pick of the second round (33 overall) of the NFL Draft on Friday, Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com reports.

Quiet finish, brighter future?
Ross had two catches for 42 yards in the Bengals' Week 17 win over the Browns. He finished the season with 28 catches for 506 yards and three touchdowns.
Analysis: Ross could take the leap next season with the Bengals holding the No. 1 pick and presumably eyeing Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow as their new franchise signal-caller. The wideout finished the season with a 20-plus-yard catch in each of his last four games and averaged 18.1 yards per reception in 2019. Ross hasn't yet demonstrated an ability to stay on the field, but if he can clear that hurdle, a big reward awaits.

Most productive game since return
Ross secured six of 13 targets for 84 yards in the Bengals' 38-35 overtime loss to the Dolphins on Sunday. He also rushed twice for six yards.
Analysis: Ross finished second on the team to Tyler Boyd in receptions, receiving yardage and targets, and although he couldn't find the end zone like his teammate, he did put together his best performance since returning from a stay on injured reserve due to a shoulder issue. Ross also logged his first two rush attempts of the campaign, and he'll look to build on Sunday's effort and head into the offseason with some momentum when the Bengals face the Browns in Week 17.

Snags two passes in loss
Ross caught two of three targets for 24 yards during Sunday's 34-13 loss to New England.
Analysis: Ross has now been held to two catches and under 30 yards in each of his first two games back after a shoulder injury. The junior speedster always offers hope of a big play, with a 19.0-yards-per-catch average this season, but he has just six targets in his two games back. Next up is a Miami defense that entered this week having surrendered 54 passes of at least 20 yards, 28th in the league, but it'd be a leap of faith to assume that Ross will get enough targets to make Miami pay.

Analysis: Ross's health was in some question after the foot injury limited his participation in Wednesday's practice, but he cleared up any concern by taking every rep Thursday and Friday. After missing eight games with a sternoclavicular injury, Ross returned from injured reserve in the Week 14 loss to the Browns to play 51 percent of the offensive snaps. Ross (foot) practiced fully Thursday, Jay Morrison of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Ben Baby of ESPN.com previously noted that Ross's "foot injury is very minimal" and the wideout's full session Thursday places him on track to play Sunday against the Patriots. In his return to action from a sternoclavicular injury in Week 14, Ross logged 36 of a possible 73 snaps in the Bengals' loss to the Browns, en route to catching two of his three targets for 28 yards. Ross was limited at practice Wednesday due to a foot injury, Jay Morrison of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Ross returned to action in Sunday's 27-19 loss to the Browns after a long layoff due to a sternoclavicular injury, but it's a new issue that's troubling him in Week 15. Makes two catches in return
Ross caught two of three targets for 28 yards during Sunday's 27-19 loss to the Browns.
Analysis: Making his return from a long injury layoff, Ross was somewhat eased back into action. He looked explosive on a 24-yard gain but did little of note aside from that play. Ross was a big part of the offense in the early stages of the season and will look to increase his involvement next Sunday against the Patriots. Fellow receiver Auden Tate got injured Sunday, so his status for Week 15 could affect how much or little Ross gets used.

Analysis: Ross can resume practicing as soon as he's healthy enough to do so, gearing up for a potential return to game action Week 14. Analysis: Ross isn't eligible to return from injured reserve until Week 14, so he's not expected to resume taking part in team drills in the immediate future. That being said, the fact that Ross was on the field Monday in some fashion suggests he's progressing well from the sternoclavicular injury he sustained Sept. 30.
