Recovering from surgery
Floyd said Wednesday that he underwent offseason surgery to address a right ankle injury that dates back to last summer, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Floyd said that he suffered the injury during training camp and added that he is nearly back to full health. Even while apparently playing at less-than-optimal health throughout 2021, the 29-year-old linebacker appeared in all 17 regular-season games for the Rams and logged 70 tackles and 9.5 sacks.

Will be available Sunday
Floyd (ankle) is active for Sunday's contest against the Ravens, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: After logging a limited practice Friday, Floyd was deemed questionable for Week 17. The 29-year-old pass rusher's presence should be a big boost to the Rams' defense, as he's notched nine sacks across 15 games this season.

Pops up on injury report
Floyd (ankle) was added to the injury report Friday and is questionable for Sunday's matchup against the Ravens, Kevin Modesti of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
Analysis: Floyd was added to the injury report Friday, but he was still able to log a limited practice. That should keep him in position to suit up Sunday against Baltimore, though his status is now in some doubt. Floyd has been a key pass rusher for the Rams all season, posting nine sacks across 15 games.

Bears no injury designation
Floyd (concussion) has no injury status heading into Sunday's game against the Packers, Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio reports.
Analysis: Floyd has trended in the right direction all week, putting in a limited practice Thursday and a full one Friday. He'll be out there at his usual starting linebacker spot in Week 12 without having missed a game.

Expected to play after concussion
Coach Sean McVay expects that Floyd (concussion) should be available to play in Sunday's matchup against Green Bay, Andrew Siciliano of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: McVay also revealed that Floyd did indeed suffer a concussion in the Week 10 loss to the 49ers. The Rams had their bye in Week 11, which likely helped the veteran pass rusher recover, but he will still need to get through the protocol for head injuries to be available Sunday. Floyd, the team's leader in sacks with 7.5, could find success if he's active Sunday against a Packers offensive line that may be without both David Bakhtiari (knee) and Elgton Jenkins (torn ACL).

Enjoys two-sack outing
Floyd had three tackles (one solo) and two sacks during Sunday's 38-22 win over the Texans.
Analysis: Floyd now has 6.5 sacks through eight appearances this season, putting him on pace to potentially surpass last year's career-high mark of 10.5 sacks. He will work to keep up his momentum against Ryan Tannehill and a Titans squad operating without Derrick Henry (foot) in Week 9.

Continues solid play against Lions
Floyd recorded seven tackles (four solo) during Sunday's 28-19 win over Detroit.
Analysis: The second-year Ram and 2016 first-round selection is having another solid season for Los Angeles. He's up to 32 tackles (16 solo) and 4.5 sacks for the campaign, which positions him as a fringe asset in the majority of fantasy settings.

Gets to QB in win
Floyd produced four tackles (two solo) and a sack in Sunday's 34-24 win over the Buccaneers.
Analysis: Floyd has handled at least 80 percent of the team's defensive snaps in each game this year, so he won't see much of an increase now that Justin Hollins (pectoral) is out of the lineup. The 2016 first-round pick can maintain this production, as he proved with 10.5 sacks last season.

DNP again Thursday
Floyd (ankle) won't take part in practice Thursday, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: For a second consecutive session, Floyd will be a DNP on the Rams' injury report, but he was able to ride a stationary bike in the media access portion of Thursday's practice. Coach Sean McVay told Rodrigue that Floyd hurt his ankle before Week 1, so the current limitations are merely maintenance-related to ensure he avoids an unnecessary setback. The Rams will have a chance to clear up Floyd's status for Week 3 against the Buccaneers as soon as Friday.

Non-participant Wednesday
Floyd (ankle) was a non-participant at Wednesday's practice, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Floyd had the ankle issue first crop up in mid-August, and it's apparently still bothersome after he played 82 percent of the defensive snaps in Week 2. The 29-year-old should be able to play Sunday versus Tampa Bay if he can return to practice in the next couple days.

Off injury report
Floyd (ankle) isn't listed on the Rams' injury report Wednesday.
Analysis: After leaving a practice early in mid-August with an ankle injury, Floyd is finally back to full health and is off the injured list. The linebacker is set to start in the Rams' season opener against the Bears if he can remain healthy.

Leaves practice early Monday
Floyd (ankle) departed Monday's practice early with a slight limp, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Coach Sean McVay downplayed the severity of Floyd's injury, per Rodrigue, but said the Rams are still evaluating things. After breaking out with a career-high 10.5 sacks in his inaugural campaign in Los Angeles, Floyd has ingrained himself as a key part of the team's defensive front.

Sticking with L.A.
The Rams and Floyd agreed to terms on a four-year, $64 million contract Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: During his first four seasons with the Bears, Floyd compiled 18.5 sacks in 54 games, but after breaking out with 10.5 in 16 contests with the Rams he's struck it big. He'll continue to work in tandem with three-time Defensive Player of the Year Aaron Donald along the L.A.'s fearsome front line.

Destructive in first season in L.A.
Floyd appeared in all 16 regular-season games with the Rams in 2020, setting career-high marks in total tackles (55) and sacks (10.5). He also added two fumble recoveries and a forced fumble.
Analysis: Not only were Floyd's 10.5 sacks a personal best, but the total was higher than what he posted in his previous two seasons with the Bears combined. Now set to hit free agency following a breakout season, Floyd looks to be in prime position to receive a sizable contract on the open market.

Back in action
Floyd returned to Saturday's wild-card game against the Seahawks after being evaluated for a concussion, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Floyd was disruptive before his initial departure, recording a sack and two quarterback hits. The fifth-year linebacker will continue to handle a starter's workload for the remainder of the game.

Suiting up Week 17
Floyd (abdomen) is active for Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Floyd was initially listed as questionable for Sunday's regular-season finale, but he'll be available to host the Cardinals. The 28-year-old hasn't played less than 85 defensive snaps in a game he's suited up for this season.

Carries questionable tag
Floyd (abdomen) is questionable for Sunday's game versus the Cardinals, Lindsey Thiry of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Floyd went to the hospital Friday as a precautionary measure after experiencing abdominal pain. The Rams didn't provide further details. If he's ultimately inactive for Sunday's divisional tilt, Justin Hollins likely will start in Floyd's place, while Ogbonnia Okoronkwo could enjoy a substantial increase in reps.

Erupts with three sacks
Floyd had five tackles (all solo), three sacks and one fumble recovery during Sunday's 23-16 win over the Rams.
Analysis: The 28-year-old was a one-man wrecking crew Sunday, as he registered five hits on quarterback Russell Wilson. Floyd has already tied his career high with seven sacks through nine games this season.

Will suit up against Seattle
Floyd (knee) is active heading into Sunday's matchup against the Seahawks.
Analysis: Floyd entered the weekend labeled as questionable, but he ultimately showed enough during pregame warmups to earn the nod for a crucial Week 10 divisional clash. He sat out Thursday's practice session entirely, but a return to full participation Friday provided optimism that the linebacker would be able to suit up. With four sacks, 23 tackles and a fumble recovery on the 2020 campaign, Floyd readies for a showdown with Seattle's No. 1 scoring offense.

Questionable for divisional matchup
Floyd (knee) is considered questionable for Sunday's game versus the Seahawks, Stu Jackson of the Rams' official site reports.
Analysis: Floyd was a non-participant in Thursday's practice but upgraded to full participation Friday. That gives him a good chance to play Sunday. If he suffers a setback and is ultimately ruled out, however, Terrell Lewis (shoulder), who is also considered questionable, would be next up while Jachai Polite could get some reps as well.

Breaks out in revenge game
Floyd recorded six tackles (four solo), two sacks and three quarterback hits during Monday's 24-10 win over Chicago.
Analysis: Floyd spent four years with the Bears after being selected in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, so the first-year Ram clearly capitalized on some additional motivation to post his best fantasy showing of the season Monday. It's been an inconsistent start to the campaign for Floyd, but he's playing nearly every defensive snap, and this outing could be a springboard for the coming weeks -- especially with the Los Angeles defense appearing to be trending in the right direction.

Busy in Rams debut
Floyd recorded four tackles (two solo), a sack and a tackle for a loss during Sunday's 20-17 win over Dallas.
Analysis: It was a strong first game with Los Angeles for Floyd. He played 68 of 72 defensive snaps and could prove to be a solid pass rusher for the Rams and potential IDP fantasy target in deeper settings. A fresh start might be just what the 2016 first-round selection needed.

Joins Rams to replace Fowler
Floyd agreed Wednesday with the Rams on a one-year, $10 million contract, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Released by Chicago on Tuesday, the 27-year-old now steps in as a replacement at outside linebacker for Dante Fowler, who is leaving Los Angeles for Atlanta. Teams around the league have been playing musical chairs with pass rushers, and it's hard to sell this as anything but a downgrade for the Rams, though they'll at least save some cap space in the process. Floyd was the No. 9 overall pick in the 2016 draft, but he produced just 18.5 sacks and 44 quarterback hits in 54 regular-season games…read more

Set to be released
The Bears will release Floyd, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Yates notes that Floyd was due $13.22 million on his fifth-year option, a sum that would have become guaranteed Wednesday. The move to part ways with the 2016 first-rounder frees up salary cap space for the Bears' pending signing of Robert Quinn.

Finishes worst year of career
Floyd posted one stop in the Bears' 21-19 victory over the Vikings in Week 17, and he finished the year with 40 tackles and three sacks.
Analysis: For the second straight year, Floyd played in all 16 games, but, unfortunately, he posted a career-low in sacks and he's never had fewer tackles per game. He'll enter the last season of his five-year contract with the Bears in 2020, but he won't be a recommended fantasy option in typical leagues.

Clear of rib injury
Floyd (ribs) wasn't listed on Monday's injury report, Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Floyd suffered a rib injury during last Thursday's win over the Lions, but it doesn't appear as though the injury will impact his status for this week. The 27-year-old should play his near every-down role Thursday against the Cowboys.

Nursing rib injury
Floyd suffered a rib injury during Thursday's 24-20 win over the Lions, Adam Hoge of WGN Radio 720 AM Chicago reports.
Analysis: The fourth-year linebacker had an X-ray during the game but ended up returning, and he didn't appear hindered, as he logged an 82-percent snap share during the Thanksgiving Day contest. His practice status leading up to this Thursday's matchup against the Cowboys is worth monitoring.

Registers sack
Floyd recorded a sack and six tackles in Chicago's 22-14 loss to the Eagles on Sunday.
Analysis: With the Eagles leading this game throughout, they ran the ball 35 times, which led to Floyd posting a season-high in tackles. In addition, his third sack of the season was the first one he's posted since Week 1, and he's been a disappointing fantasy option due to his inability to generate consistent sack numbers.
