Unlikely to return
Coach Kyle Shanahan said Tuesday that Blair (knee) is "unlikely to play this season," Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Blair has spent the entire 2020 campaign to this point on the reserve/PUP list while working to recover from an ACL tear sustained last season. He suffered a setback back in October, and it seems that the issue is severe enough to push his return to 2021.

Suffers setback
Blair (knee) suffered a setback and will take longer to return from the reserve/PUP list, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: There's still no clear timeline for his return, but a quick recovery would help with the 49ers' depleted depth at defensive end. However, it looks like it may take at least a few more weeks before Blair is ready to return. Over the previous two seasons, Blair recorded 57 tackles and 8.5 sacks through 25 games.

Staying on PUP list
Blair (knee) will begin the season on the reserve/PUP list, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Blair is reportedly nearing 100 percent health after having suffered an ACL tear last season, so he should be ready to rock by the time he's eligible to come off the PUP list. He'll be forced to sit out at least the first six games of the season.

Placed on PUP list
The 49ers placed Blair (knee) on the active/PUP list Tuesday, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Blair earned a one-year deal with the 49ers in March after having his 2019 season cut short due to an ACL tear. He could have the opportunity to compete for a depth role when he's able to resume practicing.

Inks one-year pact
The 49ers and Blair (knee) agreed to terms on a one-year contract Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Blair had his 2019 season cut short by a torn ACL that he sustained in November. The 27-year-old continues to work back from the injury, and the team is optimistic he'll be ready for spring drills and training camp. Blair produced 21 tackles (14 solo) and three sacks across nine games last year, and he's expected to handle a depth role across the defensive front for San Francisco next season -- a role that could offer more snaps than expected with DeForest Buckner now in Indianapolis.

Resumes running in rehab
Blair (knee) posted a video on his personal Instagram account of him running while participating in rehab activities.
Analysis: Blair is working to recover from a torn ACL sustained in November, so it's encouraging to see that he's already progressed enough to participate in sprinting drills. It remains to be seen whether the 49ers will attempt to re-sign Blair prior to the start of the new league year March 18, at which point he's scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent.

Lands on IR, as expected
The 49ers placed Blair (knee) on injured reserve Wednesday.
Analysis: Blair logged a 50-percent snap share or better just twice this year, but he made an impact in the limited role with 21 tackles -- seven for a loss -- and three sacks over nine games. The defensive end suffered a torn ACL during this past Sunday's overtime loss to the Seahawks, so he'll be shut down for the year. The 49ers signed Damontre Moore to add depth at the position. Blair will aim to recover by the 2020 season, but he may not be with the 49ers since his contract expires in March.

Tears ACL
Blair was diagnosed Tuesday with a torn ACL in his right knee and has been ruled out for the season, David Lombardi of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed what many had feared after the 26-year-old had to leave Monday's loss to the Seahawks. He finishes the season with 21 tackles (14 solo), three sacks and a fumble recovery.

Will have MRI
Blair will have an MRI after suffering a potentially serious knee injury during Monday's 27-24 loss to the Seahawks, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Blair recorded two solo tackles -- one for a loss -- in this performance, and he logged the lowest snap share (19 percent) of the year, possibly due to this injury. If the fourth-year pro has a serious issue, it would impact the depth of the 49ers' line, although the team still has defensive ends Nick Bosa, Arik Armstead, Dee Ford and Solomon Thomas in tow.
