Posts 30 tackles
Coleman recorded 30 tackles and one pass breakup over 11 games in 2020.
Analysis: There was hope that Coleman might recover his early 2019 form this year. While his 2020 performance wasn't terrible, it was ultimately another disappointing season for one of the highest-paid slot corners in the league, who had some struggles in both pass coverage and run defense. However, even though Detroit could save roughly $5 million against the cap by letting him go this offseason, it would also have to eat $6 million in dead money by doing so. Combined with the fact that it's entirely…read more

Back in against Washington
Coleman (knee) has returned to Sunday's matchup against Washington, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: Detroit's defense stifled Washington through most of the first three quarters Sunday, holding Alex Smith without a touchdown, and Washington to just three total points. That is, until Washington broke through with its first touchdown of the day -- a two-yard J.D. McKissic TD plunge -- with 2:30 to go in the third quarter. Coleman's return to action is one more factor playing in the Lions' favor, as he will now plug back into his rotational role in the secondary with Detroit vying for its…read more

Picks up knee injury
Coleman is questionable to return to Sunday's game against Washington with a knee injury.
Analysis: Coleman had three tackles during the first half before leaving with the injury. Jeff Okudah and Amani Oruwariye could see increased snaps while he's sidelined.

Ready to play Sunday
The Lions activated Coleman (hamstring) from injured reserve Saturday.
Analysis: Coleman hasn't played since suffering a hamstring injury in the season opener, but after two weeks of practice without a setback, he'll return to the lineup. He's expected to start Sunday's game against the Colts and should operate as the No. 1 corner with Desmond Trufant (hamstring) and Darryl Roberts (groin) ruled out.

Finally back to work
Coleman (hamstring) returned to practice Thursday.
Analysis: Coleman has resided on injured reserve since suffering the hamstring issue in Week 1, and he'll now have a chance to return beginning Week 7. Whenever the Tennessee product is ready and activated by the Lions, he'll likely contribute as a depth or slot cornerback as long as he stays healthy.

Still not practicing
Coleman (hamstring) is not present at Wednesday's practice, Kyle Meinke of MLive.com reports.
Analysis: Coleman has been on injured reserve since suffering a hamstring injury during Detroit's season opener, and it doesn't look as though he'll be ready to return Week 6. When healthy, Coleman stands to contribute as a slot cornerback for the Lions.

Shifts to IR
Coleman (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Coleman sustained this injury during Week 1's loss to the Bears. A player placed on IR this season can miss as few as three weeks, but because the Lions have a Week 5 bye, Coleman won't play again until Week 6, at the earliest. The Lions secondary looked highly questionable with Coleman, Jeff Okudah (hamstring) and Desmond Trufant (hamstring) on the sidelines. Okudah and Trufant haven't been ruled out for Week 2, but nevertheless, both Amani Oruwariye and Darryl Roberts should have decent roles…read more

Headed to locker room
Coleman suffered a hamstring injury in the team's Week 1 contest against the Bears, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: Coleman appeared to suffer a hamstring injury. He was able to walk off the field but immediately went to the locker room to be evaluated. It's unclear whether he will be able to return to the game. If he remains absent, the Lions will be thin in the secondary as rookie cornerback Jeff Okudah (hamstring) is inactive.

Cleared for action
Coleman has been activated from the Lions' reserve/COVID-19 list, Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: Coleman is thus slated to reprise his slot corner duties for the Lions this coming season. The 27-year-old recorded 51 tackles and a pick in his first campaign with the team in 2019.

Placed on COVID-19 list
Coleman will be placed on the Lions' reserve/COVID-19 list, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Per the report, Coleman is asymptomatic and tested negative Tuesday before testing positive Wednesday. The 27-year-old is slated to reprise his slot corner duties in 2020, after logging 51 tackles and a pick in his first campaign with the Lions last year.

Not living up to contract
Coleman registered 54 tackles, 13 pass breakups, one interception, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery over 16 games in 2019.
Analysis: Signed to a hefty four-year, $36 million contract in the offseason, Coleman played very well over the first few weeks of the season. However, he seemingly ended the year as a liability in pass coverage, and Coleman ultimately ranked among the league's most generous cornerbacks in terms of yardage allowed during the final three-fourths of the year. Since the dead money on Coleman's contract makes it highly unlikely he'll be going anywhere this offseason, the 26-year-old slot man will probably…read more
