In line for No. 2 role
Coach Sean McDermott said Friday that Yeldon will work as Devin Singletary's backup in Saturday's AFC divisional-round game against the Ravens, Nick Wojton of USA Today reports.
Analysis: Yeldon was a healthy scratch for last week's wild-card win over the Colts. Zack Moss suffered a postseason-ending ankle injury during that game, opening the door for Yeldon to take on a larger role for the rest of playoffs. Yeldon logged just 42 offensive snaps and 11 touches for 92 yards and a touchdown over three games during the regular season, and he hasn't taken the field since Week 5. Meanwhile, the Bills elevated Antonio Williams from the practice squad to add backfield depth. Yeldon is…read more

Inactive for Saturday
Yeldon (coach's decision) is inactive for Saturday's wild-card matchup against Indianapolis.
Analysis: While Yeldon was previously on the Bills' reserve/COVID-19 list, he is now healthy but still will not play in Saturday's game. The running back is simply not as much of a factor compared to teammates Devin Singletary and Zack Moss.

Activated from COVID-19 list
The Bills activated Yeldon from the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday.
Analysis: Yeldon will provide the Bills with added depth out of the backfield as Saturday's playoff opener against the Colts approaches. He's clearly behind Devin Singletary and Zack Moss in the pecking order at running back, and Taiwan Jones' importance on special teams could result in Yeldon being a healthy inactive for the wild-card round.

Tests positive for COVID-19
Yeldon was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Sunday after testing positive for the virus, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Yeldon is out for the Week 16 matchup against New England, and depending on when he tested positive, he could miss the season finale.

Healthy scratch Sunday
Yeldon (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game at Arizona.
Analysis: The 27-year-old sat out Week 9 due to a back injury, and he's inactive again this week despite being recovered from the injury. Even when he is active, Yeldon is unlikely to be much of a factor while Devin Singletary and Zack Moss remain healthy.

Back at practice
Yeldon (back) was a full participant during Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: Yeldon failed to practice all last week with the back issue before being ruled out of Week 9, so it appears he's on track to return to the lineup, that is, if the Bills decide to suit up an extra running back. The Alabama product has seen a limited role this season, rushing for just 70 yards on 10 carries and adding a touchdown catch for 22 yards. Yeldon has a better chance of getting the call Sunday if fellow running back Taiwan Jones (hamstring) has to miss a second straight game.

Won't play in Week 9
Yeldon (back) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Seahawks.
Analysis: Yeldon was unable to practice all week and will continue to sit out as a result. Devin Singletary and Zack Moss will continue to split Buffalo's backfield reps while the team's offense will likely go pass-heavy against Seattle's league-worst secondary.

DNP to start practice week
Yeldon missed Wednesday's practice due to a back injury.
Analysis: Yeldon was scratched for Sunday's win against the Patriots due to the issue, though he's often a healthy inactive anyway. The veteran has carried the ball just 10 times in 2020, while the only pass he's caught did go for a touchdown.

Scratched Week 7
Yeldon is inactive for Sunday's game at the Jets.
Analysis: Yeldon had a big Week 5 in a blowout loss to the Titans with 74 scrimmage yards and a receiving touchdown, but the team is committed to backup Zack Moss as the now healthy backup to Devin Singletary, while the third active spot always goes to special teams stud Taiwan Jones.

Inactive Monday
Yeldon is inactive for Monday's game against the Chiefs.
Analysis: Yeldon is the odd man out in the Bills' Week 6 backfield, with Zack Moss back from a toe injury and slated to work in tandem with Devin Singletary.

Finds end zone Tuesday
Yeldon rushed seven times for 52 yards and caught one of three targets for a 22-yard touchdown in Tuesday's 42-16 loss to the Titans.
Analysis: With Devin Singletary (11 carries for 25 yards) struggling and Zack Moss (toe) sitting out, Yeldon was entrusted with picking up a few 3rd-and-shorts and managed to deliver. The veteran running back then got free in the back of the end zone for a 22-yard touchdown to bring Buffalo within 12 with 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter and broke loose for a 34-yard run in garbage time to pad his stat line. Yeldon's role will likely shrink when Moss comes back, but he could see some extra playing…read more

Sees first action of season
Yeldon carried three times for 18 yards and was not targeted in the passing game during Sunday's win over the Rams.
Analysis: Yeldon, a healthy scratch the first two weeks, was asked to suit up as the No. 2 running back with Zack Moss out with a toe injury. The 6.0 yards per carry is nice, but the 2015 second-rounder simply hasn't seen enough volume to be a factor for years. Still, the Bills have an effective running game, and Yeldon was one injury away from having a meaningful role in the attack Sunday. One thing he does do well is catch the ball out of the backfield, but the team uses wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie…read more

Not dressing for Week 2
Yeldon will be inactive for Sunday's game in Miami, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
Analysis: Yeldon was inactive last week as well, a situation that could continue until/unless Devin Singletary or Zack Moss suffers an injury. Taiwan Jones is a far better special teams player than Yeldon and could be used as an emergency RB if needed.

Survives roster cuts
Yeldon survived the Bills' roster cutdown Saturday and looks to begin the season as the team's No. 3 running back.
Analysis: Taiwan Jones also made the team, but he's more of a special-teams ace, and it will be Yeldon who should see the field as a pass-catching threat out of the backfield. Note that the Bills seem to tweak the bottom of their roster more than the average team, so Yeldon is no sure thing to last the entire season. The Bills are already planning a visit with veteran cut Lamar Miller.

More competition for final roster
Yeldon has a new teammate in the running back corps after the Bills drafted Utah's Zack Moss in the third round of this weekend's draft.
Analysis: Moss won't really be competing with Yeldon per se, since the former is a lock to make the team as a high draft pick and can already be considered the No. 2 guy behind Devin Singletary. The Buffalo brass has been singing Yeldon's praises this offseason, however, even though he didn't do much in his first season with the team, running for just 63 yards on 17 carries and catching 13 balls for 124 yards. Yeldon and Singletary are the two best receiving options in the RB room, but Yeldon isn't much…read more

Sitting out Saturday
Yeldon (coach's decision) is inactive for Saturday's playoff game against the Texans.
Analysis: Yeldon played in just six games this season, so it's not much of a surprise to see him as a healthy inactive in this pivotal contest. Expect Devin Singletary and Frank Gore to see the majority of the opportunities out of the backfield Saturday.

Picks up 42 yards
Yeldon ran for 18 yards on seven carries and added 24 yards on three catches during Sunday's 13-6 loss to the Jets.
Analysis: Yeldon had accounted for just 20 touches all season, and none since Week 5, heading into Sunday, but he saw extended playing time as the Bills rested their roster with the No. 5 seed already in their grasp. Rookie dynamo Devin Singletary was among those who sat out the game. With Singletary returning for Saturday's matchup against the Texans, expect Yeldon's role to be dramatically reduced -- if he dresses at all.

To see action
Yeldon is not among the inactives for Sunday's regular-season finale against the Jets, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
Analysis: We're not sure how much action Frank Gore will see in this meaningless finale for the Bills, but Devin Singletary is already a healthy scratch, so given Gore's age and familiarity with what he can do, there's a chance Yeldon could see some decent run just as more of an audition for next year or to see if he can be helpful for next week's playoff game in a reserve capacity.

Inactive Week 14
Yeldon is inactive for Sunday's game against the Ravens, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Yeldon fought an illness during the week but returned to practice Friday, while his bigger fight has been to return to the lineup, with Devin Singletary, Frank Gore, fullback Patrick DiMarco and special teamer Senorise Perry all cemented ahead of him. Yeldon hasn't suited up since Week 5.

Back from illness
Yeldon (illness) returned to practice Friday and will be available for Sunday's game against the Ravens, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Yeldon missed Thursday's practice but will head into the weekend with his health intact. Considering that he's been inactive in coach's decisions since Week 5, there's no guarantee he'll suit up Week 14. The Bills seem content with Devin Singletary and Frank Gore at running back, Patrick DiMarco at fullback and Senorise Perry on special teams.

Not practicing Thursday
Yeldon is not participating in Thursday's practice due to an illness, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports.
Analysis: Yeldon has been a healthy scratch for seven straight games, so even if he were forced to miss any time Buffalo's offense would emerge unscathed. Rookie Devin Singletary has emerged as the top option in the Bills' backfield, with Frank Gore serving a change-of-pace role and Senorise Perry contributing on special teams.

Remains healthy scratch Week 10
Yeldon (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's Week 10 tilt against the Browns.
Analysis: Yeldon will be a healthy scratch for the third straight game. Devin Singletary appears to have taken the reins of the Buffalo backfield over the last two contests, while veteran Frank Gore remains available to serve as an alternative to the rookie, leaving Yeldon without a game-day role for the time being.
