ACL tear confirmed, hits IR
Dupree sought out a second opinion on his knee injury Thursday, but it confirmed the diagnosis of a torn ACL, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Dupree's torn ACL was quickly diagnosed by initial test results after Wednesday's win over the Ravens, but the 27-year-old pass rusher opted to pursue a second option. The MRI now having fully confirmed the severity of his injury, Dupree will presumably undergo surgery in the near future. Given the timing of his injury, it's not a guarantee that Dupree will be ready for the start of the 2021 campaign. The Steelers officially moved Dupree to IR on Thursday.

Torn ACL confirmed
Dupree suffered a torn ACL during Wednesday's 19-14 win over the Ravens, Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Analysis: The team feared Dupree tore his knee in the fourth quarter of Wednesday's game, and additional tests quickly confirmed the injury. The 27-year-old will miss the rest of the 2020 season, and depending on how his recovery goes, he could be in danger of missing the start of the 2021 campaign as well. Alex Highsmith and Olasunkanmi Adeniyi are the top candidates to start at outside linebacker in place of Dupree, who finishes the season with 31 tackles, eight sacks and two forced fumbles in 11 games.

Serious knee injury feared
Dupree may have suffered a torn ACL during Wednesday's 19-14 win over the Ravens, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: Dupree sustained a knee injury late in this contest, and the linebacker now is undergoing tests to determine the precise diagnosis. If the worst comes to pass, he'll miss the rest of the campaign and enter free agency with a cloud hanging over his head, health-wise. Through 11 games, Dupree has accrued 31 tackles (23 solo), eight sacks and two forced fumbles.

Adds two more sacks
Dupree posted four solo tackles and two sacks in Sunday's 38-7 win over the Browns.
Analysis: Dupree keeps on tormenting opposing quarterbacks, as he's up to five sacks through five games and has recorded 16 QB pressures as well. The 2015 first-round pick is in a good position to reach last year's career high of 11.5 sacks. His tackle numbers are a bit low with an average of three per game, but as long as he keeps up the sack totals, Dupree is an intriguing IDP option.

Posts 1.5 sacks Sunday
Dupree recorded four tackles (one solo) and 1.5 sacks across 41 defensive snaps in Sunday's win over the Texans.
Analysis: Dupree now has sacks in back-to-back contests and only trails Devin Bush in defensive snaps amongst Pittsburgh linebacking corps. He'll now switch his focus to the Titans, who are only allowing one sack per game this season -- tied for third best in the league.

All clear Wednesday
Dupree (shoulder) was absent from the team's injury report Thursday.
Analysis: Coach Mike Tomlin expressed concern for the Kentucky product following Sunday's win over Denver, saying Dupree could be limited in practice this week. Dupree has bucked that thought, as he's been a full participant during each practice. Expect the fifth-year pro to assume his usual role as one the team's starting outside linebackers in Week 3.

Battling shoulder injury
Coach Mike Tomlin relayed that Dupree (shoulder) may be limited in practice this week, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Dupree logged a full workload in this past Sunday's win over the Broncos, recording two tackles, a sack and a forced fumble. Tomlin didn't illustrate it as a serious injury, but it's worth monitoring ahead of Sunday's game versus the Texans. However, if Dupree's forced to miss any time, either Olasunkanmi Adeniyi or Alex Highsmith will bump into a starting role.

Notches first sack of season
Dupree recorded two tackles (one solo), including a sack, in Pittsburgh's 26-21 win over Denver Sunday.
Analysis: On Denver's second offensive series, Drew Lock was sacked by Dupree for an 11-yard loss, forcing a fumble. Lock (shoulder) exited the game and did not return. Pittsburgh's defense looks just as aggressive as it did last season, when it led the NFL in sacks and turnovers forced. After handling Daniel Jones in Week 1 and both Lock and Jeff Driskel this week, the Steelers face their most difficult challenge against Deshaun Watson and the Texans in Week 3.

Doesn't get extension
Dupree and the Steelers were unable to work out a long-term contract before Wednesday's deadline, Joe Rutter of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Analysis: The two sides can't resume negotiations until next offseason, with Dupree then able to become a free agent unless the Steelers use the franchise tag a second time (at the cost of a 20 percent raise). Dupree's tag for 2020 is worth $15.82 million, but he filed a grievance to be classified as a defensive end, which would bump up the number to $17.79 million. He was a 16-game starter at outside linebacker last season, notching career highs for tackles (68), sacks (11.5), QB hits (17) and forced…read more

Files grievance
Dupree has officially filed a grievance three months after signing his franchise tag with hopes that he can be paid as a defensive end rather than a linebacker, Jelani Scott of NFL.com reports.
Analysis: Dupree has accumulated 200 tackles, 31.5 sacks, nine pass deflections and six forced fumbles in 70 games (55 starts) since being drafted 22nd overall in the 2015 NFL Draft. He is set to make $15.8 million after getting franchised as a linebacker, but should he get reclassified as a defensive end, it will net him roughly $2 million more. The 27-year-old is still hoping to work out a long-term contract with the Steelers.

Signs franchise tag
Dupree signed his franchise tender Thursday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The decision to sign suggests Dupree won't be a holdout even if he doesn't get a long-term contract before the July 15 deadline for franchise-tagged players. It's a reasonable decision on his part, as the $15.83 million salary is good money for a pass rusher with 31.5 sacks in 70 regular-season games. On the other hand, Dupree is coming off a 2019 campaign with career highs for tackles (68), QB hits (17), sacks (11.5), forced fumbles (four) and fumble recoveries (two), plus his PFF grade (77.7)…read more

Hit with franchise tag
The Steelers gave Dupree a franchise tag Monday morning, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The 2015 first-round pick looked like a disappointment throughout most of his rookie contract, but he broke out for 68 tackles and 11.5 sacks while playing on a fifth-year option in 2020. Dupree didn't generate a ton of pressure apart from the sacks, so there may be a significant difference of opinions if the Steelers open discussions for a long-term deal. The 27-year-old has 31.5 sacks and 50 QB hits through 70 career games, including 55 starts.

Finishes strong in loss
Dupree recorded four tackles (all solo), including a sack, in Sunday's 28-10 loss to the Ravens.
Analysis: Dupree showed no issues with his shoulder and finished the 2019 season with 5.5 sacks in his final six games. Playing in all 16 games for the first time in his career, Dupree finished the season tied for ninth in the league -- and second on the team -- with a career-best 11.5 sacks. The Steelers will look to re-sign this unrestricted free agent, who also had four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Clear of shoulder injury
Dupree (shoulder) isn't listed on the Steelers' injury report for Sunday's game at Baltimore.
Analysis: Dupree was set to undergo an MRI after suffering the injury Week 16, but he's apparently fine since he never appeared on the injury report this week. The 26-year-old should play his usual near every-down role in the regular-season finale.

Set for MRI on shoulder
Dupree suffered a shoulder injury in Sunday's loss to the Jets and will need to get an MRI to determine the extent of the injury, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Dupree is the latest entry on the extensive list of Steelers injuries heading into a must-win Week 17 matchup with the rival Ravens. The results of Dupree's MRI should help clarify his status for that contest.

Solid effort in loss
Dupree recorded seven tackles (two solo) including a sack in Sunday's 16-10 loss to the Jets.
Analysis: After a slow start to the season, Dupree has come on strong the past few games and now has 10.5 sacks. He had one sack earlier this season against the Ravens in a game in which the Steelers had five sacks. Pittsburgh will need a win and a Tennessee loss next week to reach the postseason, so the defense should have plenty of motivation with most of Baltimore's starters likely sitting since they clinched home field advantage in the playoffs.

Three tackles in loss
Dupree recorded three tackles (one solo) in Sunday's loss to the Steelers.
Analysis: Dupree had a disappointing game statistically speaking, failing to improve on his 9.5-sack season. He will be a bounce-back candidate against the Jets in Week 16.

Another sack in win
Dupree recorded five tackles (four solo) including a sack in Pittsburgh's 23-17 win over Arizona on Sunday.
Analysis: With each sack by Dupree he adds to his career-best season total, which now stands at 9.5 sacks. Heading into a Week 15 game against Buffalo, the Pittsburgh defense has the third most sacks this season (48). Dupree will look to add to that total against Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen who has been sacked 33 times this season and 11 times in his last three games.

Adds to sack total in win
Dupree had six tackles (four solo) including 1.5 sacks in Pittsburgh's 20-13 win over Cleveland on Sunday.
Analysis: The Pittsburgh defense sacked Cleveland quarterback Baker Mayfield five times to bring the season total to 43 sacks. The team is on pace for 57 sacks, and Dupree -- who already has a career-best 8.5 sacks -- is on pace for 11 this season. He will look to add to his total in Week 14 against the Cardinals, who have allowed 42 sacks this season.

Strip-sack clinches victory
Dupree had two tackles (both solo) including a sack and a fumble recovery in Pittsburgh's 16-10 win over Cincinnati on Sunday.
Analysis: The defense that has carried the Steelers much of this season did so again against a hapless Bengals offense. Dupree strip-sacked Ryan Finley, then recovered the ball to seal the victory in the final minutes of the game. Dupree now has seven sacks heading into a Week 13 rematch with the Browns. In Week 11, Pittsburgh managed just one sack against Cleveland.

Dominates on D in win
Dupree totaled three tackles (all solo) including two sacks and a fumble recovery in Sunday's 26-24 win over the Colts.
Analysis: The two sacks give Dupree five this season, and he should exceed his career-best six sacks in 2017 as the season progresses. His fumble recovery came on a strip-sack of backup quarterback Brian Hoyer to start the second half, with Pittsburgh taking the ensuing drive for a touchdown. The Steelers have a league-leading 11 fumble recoveries and the league's second-best turnover differential at +10. Dupree is a solid IDP option in Week 10 against the Rams.
