Lawson has been suspended for the first two games of the 2021 season, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Per Tashan Reed of The Athletic, Lawson has been suspended for violating the NFL policy for performance enhancing substances. The cornerback had just re-signed with the Raiders after reaching career highs in tackles (61) and forced fumbles (two) during the 2020 campaign.

Absent from injury report
Lawson (illness) wasn't listed on Tuesday's injury report, Josh Dubow of the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: Lawson missed last week's loss to the Chargers due to an illness, but he's been cleared for a Week 16 matchup against the Dolphins. The veteran cornerback should return to a starting role immediately. Through 12 games, Lawson has given up 374 yards and five touchdowns in coverage.

Will be unavailable for TNF
Lawson (illness) is inactive for Thursday's matchup game the Chargers.
Analysis: After earning his eighth start of the 2020 campaign Week 14 against the Colts, Lawson popped up on the injury report Wednesday with a reported illness. It's since been confirmed that the issue is serious enough to hand Lawson his second absence of the season, thrusting Isaiah Johnson into a more integral role at cornerback. With Damon Arnette and Johnathan Abram both inactive due to concussions, plus Jeff Heath (concussion) residing on IR, the Raiders' secondary is hurting heading into Thursday…read more

Questionable for TNF
Lawson (illness) is questionable for Thursday's game versus the Chargers, Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Lawson missed Wednesday's practice after falling ill. He hasn't tested positive for COVID-19, but his status for Thursday's game remains in question. With cornerback Damon Arnette (concussion/neck) and safety Johnathan Abram (concussion/knee) ruled out already, the Raiders' secondary could be in tough shape if Lawson sits out, too. Amik Robertson, Isaiah Johnson and Daryl Worley are candidates to start in Lawson's place if he's inactive.

Suspension served
Lawson had his suspension lifted following Sunday's win over the Panthers, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: Lawson was handed a one-game suspension for "using a helmet that is no longer worn by anyone as a weapon to strike, swing at, or throw at an opponent" during last year's season finale against Denver. Now that he sat out of Sunday's season opener, he's eligible to return for Week 2's matchup versus the Saints, but he may stick to special teams to start off.

Inks one-year extension
Lawson (suspension) signed a one-year contract extension with the Raiders on Thursday.
Analysis: Lawson appeared in 11 games (five starts) with the Raiders in 2019, during which he accrued 24 tackles and five defended passes. An altercation during Oakland's season-finale loss to the Broncos resulted in Lawson receiving a one-game suspension, the duration of which he figures to serve Week 1 of the 2020 regular season.

Suspended one game
Lawson has been suspended after an altercation in Sunday's season finale against the Broncos. According to NFL VP of Operations Jon Runyan, Lawson was suspended for "using helmet that is no longer worn by anyone as a weapon to strike, swing at, or throw at an opponent" and will serve a one-game absence, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Lawson was also suspended for four games earlier this season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. With the 2019 season over for the Raiders, Lawson figures to serve his suspension during Week 1 of the 2020 regular season. He played in 11 games this year for Oakland, turning in 24 tackles and five passes defensed.

Eight tackles in loss
Lawson posted eight tackles (four solo), including one tackle for loss, during Sunday's 20-16 loss to the Jaguars.
Analysis: Lawson drew the spot start at cornerback in Week 15 with Daryl Worley sidelined by a neck injury, and the former took advantage of the opportunity by doubling his previous season high in tackles. Lawson also logged 56 of a possible 57 defensive snaps, and he should see a hefty workload again in Week 16 if Worley remains out.
