Cut loose by Carolina
The Panthers are releasing Reid on Wednesday, Jeff Darlington of ESPN reports.
Analysis: It's a surprise cut after Reid notched 130 tackles and four sacks in 2019, the first season of a three-year, $22 million contract. Granted, the tackle numbers were inflated by Carolina's ineptitude defending the run, and Reid drew brutal marks from Pro Football Focus for his work in pass coverage -- a 36.1 grade to be exact. The longer track record is solid but unspectacular, so Reid should have another shot at a starting job soon enough.

Enjoys career-best campaign
Reid, who made 11 tackles in Sunday's 42-10 loss to the Saints, finishes up the 2019 season with 130 stops (97 solo), four sacks, two fumble recoveries and one fumble forced in 16 games played.
Analysis: Reid joined the Panthers early last season but took his production to a whole other level in his first full campaign with the team. Compared to his previous career high of 77 tackles, Reid's 130 this season smashed that haul, ranking 12th league-wide and second among safeties. Reid's four sacks also marked a personal best, and although he didn't manage any interceptions, he still defended six passes, maintaining his career average in the category. Piles up six tackles in loss
Reid recorded six tackles (five solo) during Sunday's 38-6 loss to the Colts.
Analysis: Reid has compiled a career-high 119 tackles across 15 games this season while playing an every-down role in Carolina's secondary. The veteran safety will look to close out 2019 strong against the explosive Saints offense Week 17.

Upgrades to full practice
Reid (shoulder) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, Alaina Getzenberg of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Analysis: Reid didn't practice Wednesday, but he's now resumed operating without limitations. The veteran safety has regularly received rest days due to a lingering shoulder injury, but he's yet to miss a game or play less than 95 percent of snaps on defense. He's set to draw his usual start in Indianapolis on Sunday.

Unable to practice Wednesday
Reid (shoulder) didn't participate in Wednesday's practice, Alaina Getzenberg of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Analysis: Reid dealt with a shoulder issue earlier this season, but he hasn't been listed on the injury report with a shoulder injury over the last two weeks. Despite the assortment of injuries Reid has sustained this year, the veteran safety hasn't missed a game. There's no indication he's in danger of sitting out Sunday versus the Colts, but he'll first need to get on the practice field by Friday.

Tallies six solo tackles in loss
Reid made six solo tackles in Sunday's loss to the Seahawks.
Analysis: That qualifies as an off-game for Reid, who had not posted fewer than eight since Week 6. The 28-year-old currently has 113 on the season, blowing away his previous career high of 77 set in his rookie year.

Ready to face Seahawks
Reid (illness) is active for Sunday's contest against the Seahawks.
Analysis: Reid was a late addition to the injury report, but he's managed to overcome his illness and is on track to take the field against Seattle on Sunday. The starting strong safety will play his usual pivotal role in Carolina's secondary.

Questionable for Sunday
Reid (illness) is considered questionable for Sunday's game against the Seahawks, Max Henson of the Panthers' official site reports.
Analysis: Reid popped up on the injury report Saturday, so it looks like he could be a game-time decision. The 28-year-old safety has been superb this year, piling up 107 tackles, four sacks and six pass breakups through 13 games. If he's unable to go for Sunday's 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff, both Colin Jones and Ross Cockrell should see upticks in usage.

Stacks up stops
Reid posted 11 tackles (seven solo) and a pass breakup in Sunday's 40-20 loss to the Falcons.
Analysis: Reid now has 107 tackles this season, marking the first time in his seven-year career he's hit triple digits in the category. The 28-year-old safety has recorded eight or more tackles in seven straight contests, so he'll continue to be a high-value IDP play during the fantasy playoffs.

Ready to rock
Reid (ankle) practiced in full Friday.
Analysis: Reid began the week as a non-participant, but he upgraded to a limited practice Thursday and is now working without restrictions. Expect the veteran to draw his usual start at strong safety in Atlanta on Sunday.

Logs limited practice
Reid (ankle) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Alaina Getzenberg of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Analysis: Reid has battled through ankle, shoulder and knee injuries this season, but he's yet to play less than 95 percent of snaps on defense through 12 contests. He's only logged three games without playing 100 percent of defensive snaps. If the veteran safety is able practice again Friday, he'll have a fair shot to play through his ankle issue in Atlanta on Sunday.

Fails to practice Wednesday
Reid (ankle) missed Wednesday's practice, Alaina Getzenberg of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Analysis: Reid played every defensive snap for the Panthers a week ago but appears to have picked up an ankle injury doing so. Despite missing Wednesday's practice, the veteran safety still has a chance to face the Falcons on Sunday. In order to do so, Reid must make a return to the practice field in the coming days. Ross Cockrell figures to see an increased workload should Reid miss Sunday's contest.

Continues to produce
Reid had nine tackles (seven solo) and a sack in Sunday's 29-21 loss to the Redskins.
Analysis: Reid has been one of Carolina's best defensive players this season, as he now sports 96 tackles, four sacks, two fumble recoveries and one fumble forced through 12 games. Although he's yet to intercept a pass, Reid's consistent production elsewhere has made him a strong IDP play thus far.

Will play Sunday
Reid (ankle/shoulder) is officially active for Sunday's clash against Washington.
Analysis: Reid was a limited participant during Thursday's practice, putting his Week 13 status in some jeopardy. He was expected to play through pain for Sunday's game, so the fact that he's suiting up was expected. The veteran will slot into his usual strong safety role, and has been a strong IDP candidate this year, racking up 87 tackles (64 solo) and three interceptions.

Officially questionable
Reid (ankle/shoulder) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Redskins, Bill Voth of the Panthers' official site reports.
Analysis: Reid was limited in Thursday's practice due to a lingering knee issue, and he now appears to be nursing ankle and shoulder injuries. The veteran safety is expected to play through his multiple issues Week 13, per Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic, though an official decision on his status could come down to a game-time decision.

Practices in limited capacity
Reid (knee) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
Analysis: Reid wasn't able to practice Wednesday due to a lingering knee issue. The veteran safety managed to play through his injury Week 12 against the Saints, and his return to practice Thursday lends optimism to his chances of managing a similar feat Sunday versus the Redskins. If Reid is indeed cleared to play, he'll draw his usual start at strong safety.

Listed as DNP
Reid (knee) didn't practice Wednesday, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Reid toughed out this injury during this past Sunday's loss to the Saints, and he didn't look bothered, recording a season-high 15 tackles. As long as he's able to get onto the practice field by Friday, he should continue starting at strong safety Sunday against the Redskins.

Leads team in tackles
Reid made 15 tackles (11 solo) in Sunday's 34-31 loss to the Saints.
Analysis: Reid comfortably led the Panthers in tackles, which allowed him to move into second on the team with 87 total stops this season. That figures ranks third among safeties league-wide, making Reid a nice IDP value at his position.

Full participant in practice
Reid (knee) practiced in full Friday.
Analysis: Reid logged back-to-back limited practices to begin the week, but he's now resumed participating without restrictions. The 28-year-old has been nursing a knee injury for much of the season, but he's nonetheless managed to serve as an every-down player in Carolina's secondary. Expect Reid to field his usual workload against the Saints on Sunday.

Held back during practice
Reid (knee) is a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Steve Reed of the Associated Press reports.
Analysis: Reid has been a regular on the injury report this year, dealing with ankle and shoulder injuries. The 28-year-old has played nearly every snap, though, and the fact that he's still practicing in some capacity signals he'll do the same Sunday against the Saints, barring a setback. Reid has been a top-tier IDP asset lately, recording 51 tackles and two sacks over the past six contests.

Flies to ball Sunday
Reid racked up eight tackles (six solo) in Sunday's loss to the Falcons.
Analysis: Reid has been an absolute menace on defense lately, racking up at least eight tackles in five of his past six contests. He also suited up in all 65 defensive snaps for the Panthers, further corroborating his importance to the defense. Reid is on pace for the best season of his career, already up to 72 tackles, three sacks and one forced fumble. He should be firmly in IDP consideration when he draws a road test against the Saints for Week 12.

Tallies eight tackles
Reid made eight tackles (four solo) in Sunday's 24-16 loss to the Packers.
Analysis: Reid led the Panthers in stops, continuing his strong recent production. The safety has registered at least eight tackles in four of his last five appearances, bringing his season total to 64 and putting him behind only Luke Kuechly and Shaq Thompson for Carolina's high mark thus far.

Practices without limitations
Reid (ankle) was a full participant in Thursday's practice, Brendan Marks of The Charlotte Observer reports.

Unable to practice Wednesday
Reid (ankle) didn't practice Wednesday.
Analysis: Reid missed the first official practice last week with a shoulder injury but still managed to suit up against the Titans, play every defensive snap and tally 11 tackles. It's slightly concerning that he's now dealing with an ankle issue, but as long as he gets on the field in some capacity over the next two days, Reid should be fine for Sunday's matchup against the Packers.

Gets another sack
Reid finished with 11 tackles (nine solo) and a sack and also forced a fumble in Sunday's 30-20 win over the Titans.
Analysis: Reid was quite the playmaker Sunday, tying for Carolina's team lead in stops while also forcing a turnover and getting to the quarterback for the second straight week. Through eight games, the safety now boasts 56 tackles, three sacks, one fumble forced and four passes defended, giving him nice all-around value despite not yet having an interception.
