Arrested on fraud charges
The United States Department of Justice announced Thursday that Bellamy (shoulder) was arrested on multiple fraud charges for his alleged participation in a scheme to receive loans intended for COVID-19 relief.
Analysis: Bellamy's arrest comes one day after he was released by the Jets in a decision that was believed to be related to the season-ending shoulder injury he suffered in May. According to the report, Bellamy received a Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan worth than $1.2 million for his entertainment company, with the Department of Justice alleging that the 31-year-old used the proceeds of the loan for personal rather than business use. Bellamy was scheduled to appear in a Florida court Thursday in…read more

Cut loose by Jets
The Jets released Bellamy (shoulder) from the reserve/PUP list Tuesday.
Analysis: Bellamy's contract was set to expire this spring, and he's already set to miss the entire 2020 season with the shoulder injury, so his release was merely a formality. The 31-year-old receiver played a bit role in the Jets' passing game in 2019 with two receptions for 20 yards, but he was a valued contributor on New York's special-teams units.

Slated to miss 2020 season
The Jets will place Bellamy (shoulder) on the reserve/PUP list Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: The transaction doesn't officially end Bellamy's season, though Rapoport relays that Bellamy and fellow receiver Quincy Enunwa (neck) are dealing with significant injuries that won't allow either player to suit up for the team in 2020. Bellamy only collected two receptions in seven games last season, but the depth wideout was a core member of the Jets' special-teams units when active.

Likely cap casualty
Bellamy (shoulder) likely will be released this offseason, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The Jets can save $2.3 million without absorbing any dead cap charge. Bellamy played 124 snaps on special teams and 63 on offense in 2019, appearing in seven games before a shoulder injury sent him to IR. He went over 200 receiving yards each year from 2015 to 2017 with the Bears, but his 82 NFL games haven't yielded even a single 100-yard performance.

Placed on injured reserve
The Jets placed Bellamy (shoulder) on injured reserve Tuesday, Ethan Greenberg of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: Bellamy sat out Sunday's loss to the Dolphins and is now set to miss the rest of the 2019 season. The 30-year-old signed a two-year deal with the Jets in March and caught two of three targets for 20 yards in seven games.

Ruled out Sunday
Bellamy (shoulder/foot) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.
Analysis: This comes as no surprise as Bellamy was unable to practice this week. He has logged just five offensive snaps over the last three weeks.
