Placed on IR
McLeod (knee) was placed on IR on Wednesday.
Analysis: This move was just a formality, with Ward having already been ruled out for the season due to the torn ACL he suffered in last week's win over the Saints. The move opened up a roster spot, which the Eagles used to promote Elijah Riley from the practice squad. Riley should add depth in the secondary, though Marcus Epps and K'Von Wallace are more likely to inherit the snaps vacated by Ward's injury.

Ruled out for season
McLeod tore his ACL in Sunday's win over the Saints and is done for the season, Daniel Gallen of The Harrisburg Patriot-News reports.
Analysis: McLeod will undergo surgery and be placed on IR in the near future. His 2020 season will finish with 66 tackles, seven pass breakups and a pick-six through 13 games. Marcus Epps and K'Von Wallace are candidates to fill in as the Eagles' starting free safety.

Leaves game with injury
McLeod (knee) will not return to Sunday's game against the Saints, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
Analysis: McLeod is one of three members of Philadelphia's secondary to be forced out of Sunday's game, alongside Darius Slay (concussion) and Avonte Maddox (knee). The Eagles already have Cre'von LeBlanc (ankle) and Craig James (shoulder) on IR.

Over hamstring injury
McLeod (hamstring) does not carry an injury designation for Sunday's game in Pittsburgh.
Analysis: McLeod managed to handle full practice reps Friday after having been limited in back-to-back sessions to begin the week. The starting safety has played every defensive snap for Philadelphia through four contests, and he looks on track to handle his usual workload versus the Steelers.

Upgrades to limited practice
McLeod (hamstring) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice.
Analysis: McLeod wasn't able to log any practice reps Wednesday, so it's encouraging to now see him working on at least a restricted basis. It looks as though McLeod, who hasn't yet missed a defensive snap this season, has at least a shot to suit up in Pittsburgh on Sunday.

Dealing with injury
McLeod (hamsting) was a non-participant during Wednesday's practice.
Analysis: It's unclear when McLeod suffered the injury, as he racked up nine tackles (eight solo) and an interception across 73 snaps in last Sunday's win. If the Virginia product is forced to miss Week 5, K'Von Wallace would appear in line to draw the start at free safety.

Eight stops in loss
McLeod made eight tackles (two assisted) in Sunday's 27-17 loss to Washington.
Analysis: McLeod is the Eagles' most experienced option at safety and has put up between 72 and 83 tackles in each of the last five seasons in which he's played all 16 games. However, with Malcolm Jenkins gone, the 30-year-old has an opportunity to shatter his career marks across the board.

Staying with Philly
McLeod is re-signing with the Eagles, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: The Eagles won't pick up their 2020 contract option for Malcolm Jenkins, but they will hold on to the lesser known of their two starting safeties. McLeod was a 16-game starter in 2019, rebounding from a 2018 ACL tear to notch 76 tackles, six pass defenses, two interceptions and two forced fumbles while playing 99.2 percent of defensive snaps. PFF graded him at No. 52 out of 86 qualified safeties, with a 66.2 grade marking his first time below 70.0 since 2014.

Plays 17 games in 2019
McLeod played all 16 regular-season games, registering 76 tackles (46 solo), a sack, two interceptions and six pass breakups in 2019. He also logged two tackles (one solo) in the Eagles' wild card loss to Seattle.
Analysis: McLeod bounced back to his former self after missing most of 2018 with a torn ACL and MCL. He came just seven tackles shy of his career high and recorded just his second career sack. The 29-year-old heads into the offseason scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent, so he could very well be with another team in 2020.

Makes two big plays in loss
