Waived by Ravens
Griffin (thigh) has been waived by the Ravens, Jonas Shaffer of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Analysis: Griffin finished the season on IR, but once he re-proves his health, he'll look to catch on elsewhere. For now, the Ravens' backup QB options behind Lamar Jackson are Trace McSorley and Tyler Huntley.

Aiming to return Week 16
Coach John Harbaugh said Wednesday that Griffin (thigh) can return from injured reserve next week, Daniel Oyefusi of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Analysis: Griffin is eligible to return to practice Dec. 23, and it appears he'll be ready to be activated for the Week 16 matchup against the Giants. With Trace McSorley (knee) moving to injured reserve Tuesday, the Ravens likely will turn to practice squad quarterback Tyler Huntley to back up Lamar Jackson in this Sunday's game against Jacksonville.

Should be available Week 16
Coach John Harbaugh said Wednesday that Griffin (thigh) can return for the Week 16 matchup against the Giants, Daniel Oyefusi of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Analysis: Griffin can return to practice next Wednesday, and it appears he'll be ready to resume his backup role in Week 16. The Ravens will have to play this Sunday against the Jaguars without either Griffin or Trace McSorley, who was placed on injured reserve Tuesday with a knee sprain. In turn, they're expected to call up Tyler Huntley from the practice squad to serve as Lamar Jackson's backup.

Lands on IR
Griffin (thigh) has been placed on IR.
Analysis: Griffin thus will miss at least three games, currently leaving Trace McSorley as the Ravens' top available QB. Though the team activated four players from the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday, franchise signal-caller Lamar Jackson (illness) remains on the list.

Dealing with thigh injury
Griffin (thigh) was listed as a non-participant on Thursday's practice estimate.
Analysis: Griffin was forced out of Wednesday's loss to the Steelers with what was originally reported as a hamstring issue. The Ravens are now citing a thigh injury as the reason for the QB's exit. Either way, Griffin's status for this coming Tuesday's game against the Cowboys is worth monitoring, with Lamar Jackson's (illness) availability for the contest not yet clarified.

Hampered by hamstring in start
Griffin was removed in the fourth quarter of Wednesday's game against the Steelers with a hamstring injury.
Analysis: Starting in place of Lamar Jackson (reserve/COVID-19 list), Griffin completed seven of his 12 passing attempts for 33 yards and an interception to go with 68 yards on seven rushing attempts before he was pulled in favor of backup Trace McSorley. According to Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic, Griffin looked "like he was struggling health-wise" on his last drive after he noticeably tweaked his hamstring on a run earlier in the contest. Griffin's meager production prior to exiting the contest may have…read more

Game moved to Wednesday
The Ravens' scheduled Week 12 game against the Steelers, which Griffin is in line to start, has been moved from Tuesday to Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: This marks the third postponement of the game, which follows the placement of multiple Baltimore players on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Griffin is slated to draw the team's start at QB in the contest with Lamar Jackson (illness) unavailable.

Could start Sunday
Griffin could start at quarterback Sunday against the Steelers after Lamar Jackson tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: The status of Sunday's game is in doubt as the Ravens deal with a COVID-19 outbreak among players and staff, but Griffin could serve as the starting quarterback with both Jackson and Trace McSorley unavailable due to COVID-19 protocols. If the Ravens don't take the field Sunday, the club has a short week prior to playing the Cowboys on Dec. 3. Griffin has taken just 17 snaps for Baltimore this year, completing one of his three passes for nine yards and one interception while rushing five times…read more

Shows to be decent backup
Griffin appeared in seven games in 2019, completing 23 of 38 passes for 225 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions. He added 20 rushing attempts for 70 yards.
Analysis: The veteran was a serviceable backup to Lamar Jackson, completing over 60 percent of his passes and eating up snaps when games were decided with time remaining. Griffin wasn't quite sharp enough to revive his stock as a potential starter elsewhere, however. He struggled in his lone start, going 11-for-21 passing for 96 yards and a pick. Griffin is under contract through 2020, so he should be expected to reprise his role as the backup this coming season unless Baltimore unexpectedly decides it's…read more

Fails to impress against Steelers
Griffin completed 11 of 21 pass attempts for 96 yards and an interception Sunday against the Steelers. He also carried eight times for 50 yards in the 28-10 win.
Analysis: Griffin struggled to connect with his receivers, completing just over half his passes while averaging 4.6 yards per attempt. He did his best Lamar Jackson impression as a runner, however, and gashed the Pittsburgh defense for 6.3 yards per carry. Griffin also took three sacks and turned the ball over once, so, despite the victory and flashy rushing stats, it wasn't exactly an ideal performance. The veteran will return to the bench during the postseason and should see the field again only in the…read more

Getting Week 17 spot start
Griffin will start the Ravens' Week 17 matchup against the Steelers after coach John Harbaugh ruled out Lamar Jackson for the regular-season finale, Jeff Zrebiec of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: With Sunday's victory in Cleveland, Baltimore has locked down the No. 1 seed on the AFC side of the postseason, so Harbaugh won't take any chances with the team's franchise signal-caller. Griffin hasn't seen much more than spot duty this season in six appearances, completing 12 of 17 passes for 129 yards, one touchdown and one interception while turning 12 carries into 20 yards.
