Retires from football
Hauschka announced his retirement Friday, Kimberley A. Martin of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Hauschka was a free agent at the time of this announcement. He played just one game this year for the Jaguars back in October. The 35-year-old kicker played for eight different franchises and is currently 47th on the all-time points list with 1,149 while ranking 16th with a field-goal percentage of 85.2 percent. Hauschka also won a ring as part of the Super Bowl XLVIII champion Seahawks.

Cut by Jaguars
The Jaguars released Hauschka on Monday.
Analysis: The move was predictable after the 35-year-old kicker missed two field goals from 24 and 49 yards in Sunday's 30-14 loss to the Texans. The Jaguars didn't allow him to try another field goal despite multiple trips into Texans' territory. Jonathan Brown was signed to the active roster and is expected to be the team's starting kicker moving forward.

Misses both FGAs
Hauschka missed both field-goal attempts and converted both extra-point attempts during Sunday's 30-14 loss to the Texans.
Analysis: The 35-year-old missed time with a knee injury after signing with the Jaguars in late September, and his debut with the team was an ugly one. Hauschka missed a chip shot from 24 yards wide left and alarmingly shorted his other attempt from 49 yards despite solid conditions. Jonathan Brown is on the practice squad and could receive an opportunity if Hauschka quickly doesn't show some improvement. It's unclear if/when regular kicker Josh Lambo (hip) will be able to return from injured reserve,…read more

Not on injury report
Hauchscka (knee) isn't included on Wednesday's injury report and should handle kicking duties for the Jaguars' game Sunday against the Texans.
Analysis: Hauschka was the third Jacksonville kicker to miss time due to injury this season when he failed to suit up against the Bengals in Week 4, paving the way for Aldrick Rosas' promotion from the practice squad. Now that Hauschka is healthy again, he's set to make his Jaguars debut Week 5.

Not available Sunday
Hauschka (knee) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Bengals.
Analysis: Hauschka signed with the Jags on Monday and was considered questionable with the knee injury, but he won't be suiting up for Week 4. Aldrick Rosas was promoted from the practice squad Saturday and will handle kicking duties for Jacksonville.

Questionable for Sunday
Hauschka (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game at Cincinnati, Michael DiRocco of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The 35-year-old began the week not practicing and returned as a limited participant Thursday, but he was unable to show enough to avoid the questionable tag. Hauschka signed with the Jaguars on Monday following injuries to Josh Lambo (hip) and Brandon Wright (groin). Aldrick Rosas will need to be promoted from the practice squad should Hauschka be unable to suit up.

Upgrades to limited practice
Hauschka (knee) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Jay Morrison of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Hauschka wasn't able to practice in any capacity Wednesday, so it's a step in the right direction to see him participating on at least a limited basis. He'll work to get healthy in time to handle placekicking duties in Cincinnati on Sunday.

Misses practice with knee injury
Hauschka (knee) didn't practice Wednesday, John Oehser of the Jaguars' official site reports.
Analysis: Jacksonville's rash of injuries at the kicker position continues, as Hauschka's only on the roster because Josh Lambo (hip) and Brandon Wright (groin) are both on IR. Hauschka will hope to heal up in time for Sunday's game in Cincinnati.

Signs with Jaguars
Hauschka signed with the Jaguars on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: The Jaguars needed a new kicker with Josh Lambo (hip) on IR and Brandon Wright dealing with a groin injury. Hauschka and Aldrick Rosas both tried out with the team, and Hauschka won the job. The 35-year-old Hauschka has struggled the last two years, connecting on just 79 percent of field goals, but he'll have a chance for a fresh start in Jacksonville. However, the Jaguars have attempted just three field goals through three weeks, so his opportunities could be flaky with the new squad.

Let go by Bills
The Bills have released Hauschka, Sal Maiorana of the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle reports.
Analysis: With that, 2020 sixth-rounder Tyler Bass is slated to serve as the team's kicker, while Hauschka will now look to catch on with another squad looking for an experienced NFL kicker.

Bounces back
Hauschka was 5-for-5 on field-goal attempts during Monday's practice session, with his longest being from about 54 yards out, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.
Analysis: The veteran missed some kicks late last week while rookie Tyler Bass seemed to be on a hot streak, so Hauschka's timing was good when the team hit the field Monday. With no preseason games, an untested kicker like Bass will have to significantly outperform the incumbent, but the Bills are allowing the two to compete. Hauschka still seems like the favorite, yet it's no sure bet at this point either.

Making his case
Hauschka saw the bulk of the kicking duties in Tuesday's practice after rookie Tyler Bass was given more looks Monday. Hauschka made six of seven field-goal attempts with a long from about 53 yards, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.
Analysis: While we don't know the exact conditions, Bass mad six of nine Monday. He's being allowed to compete with Hauschka for the job, but the veteran was more accurate through the first significant look and will need to be clearly outmatched if the rookie is going to take his job. So far, so good for Hauschka, who had a rough 2019 season but finished in strong fashion in tough conditions over the last several games.

Still the frontrunner
Special teams coordinator Heath Farwell confirmed recently that Hauschka will enter the summer as the team's top kicker, but rookie Tyler Bass will have a chance to unseat the veteran in an open competition, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports. "He's had a lot of big kicks over his career, a history of good kicks in big games in the playoffs," Farwell said in reference to Hauschka. "He was four for four last year. He is still the guy and it's up to Tyler to beat them out."
Analysis: Hauschka has been Buffalo's kicker for three seasons, and while he's lost some accuracy and leg strength from his Seattle days, he's done fairly well in a tough climate, especially on pressure kicks. Coach Sean McDermott also values leadership, which Hauschka provides. That said, Bass has a booming leg and is the rare kicker that actually got drafted (the Bills picked him in the sixth round in April), so it's a competition not to be dismissed. Perhaps with the extra roster flexibility rules for…read more

Competition looms
Hauschka will have some competition when the Bills are able to take the field ahead of the 2020 season after the team selected kicker Tyler Bass out of Georgia Southern in the sixth round of this weekend's draft.
Analysis: Hauschka struggled mightily for the first part of last season, but he finished strong by hitting his last 21 kicks (15 field-goal attempts and six extra-point attempts) if you include a fantastic performance in the wild-card loss to the Texans. Given his long track record in the NFL and standing with the Bills, he's almost certain to enter the 2020 season as the camp favorite. But the Buffalo brass is all about competition and isn't one to waste draft picks, so the fact that Bass is a…read more

Not to blame for wild-card loss
Hauschka made all four of his field-goal attempts -- from 40, 40 38 and 47 yards -- and his only extra-point try during Saturday's overtime wild-card loss to the Texans.
Analysis: Plain and simple, the Bills choked this game away after building a 16-0 lead, but if it wasn't for Hauschka there wouldn't have even been an extra period. Starting in Week 14, Hauschka has been perfect on all of his kicks (15 field-goal tries and six extra-point attempts), so whatever was affecting his normal accuracy earlier in the season has dissipated, while the 47-yarder to tie the game in the final seconds of regulation was incredibly clutch. Given his long track record in the NFL and…read more

Rock steady
Hauschka made his only field-goal attempt -- a 35-yarder -- and both extra-point tries during Saturday's loss to New England.
Analysis: The five points was perhaps about what was to be expected -- even if Hauschka was going to be perfect Saturday -- as the Pats and Bills are two of the league's best teams at not giving up much in the way of points. Hauschka has been flawless the last three games and has turned a rough season around. He gets a nice matchup to end the season if the weather holds up, as the Bills host the Jets in Week 17. That said, weather is no sure thing this time of year in Buffalo, and the Bills are locked…read more

Solid on SNF
Hauschka made a 36-yard field goal and two extra points in Sunday's 17-10 win over the Steelers.
Analysis: Hauschka connected on every try for a second straight week, and he's made his last seven field goals from within 40 yards. The 34-year-old kicker is trying to get his numbers up, though, as he's made 19 of 25 kicks (76 percent) this year, which is his worst rate since the 2009 campaign. The Bills travel to New England in Week 16.

Perfect in Week 14 loss
Hauschka made all three of his field-goal attempts -- from 36 yards, 47 and 48 -- in Sunday's loss to the Ravens. He did not have an extra-point try.
Analysis: The Bills needed to go for two on their only touchdown, but Hauschka was the beneficiary of his team having trouble finishing off drives against a tough opponent, nailing all three of his tries. Hauschka took the blame for a close loss to Cleveland in Week 10, but he's made 10 of 11 since then, including two longer attempts Sunday. The veteran may have figured things out after a prolonged rough stretch this season, but we'll note the Bills finish at Pittsburgh and at New England before…read more

Perfect during loss
Hauschka connected on all three field goals in Sunday's 24-17 loss to the Ravens.
Analysis: Hauschka has drilled his last nine kicks under 50 yards by converting tries from 36, 47 and 48 yards. The 34-year-old is having a tough year overall, however, as he's made 18 of 24 tries (75 percent). He'll look to keep up his recent success against the Steelers in Week 15.

Misses two kicks
Hauschka made two of three field goals and two of three extra points in Thursday's 26-15 win over the Cowboys.
Analysis: Hauschka was good from 26 and 41 yards, but he failed to make a 50-yarder. The veteran kicker has struggled from 50 and beyond this year with just one conversion on five attempts, but he's been superb from within, drilling 14 of 16. Hauschka will look to get back on track against the Ravens, who haven't allowed more than 20 points since Week 5.

Nails all four kicks
Hauschka connected on two field goals and two extra points in Sunday's 20-3 win over the Broncos.
Analysis: Hauschka disappointed by missing two field goals in a 19-16 loss to the Browns in Week 10, only to bounce back over the last two games by drilling all five field goals and six extra points. The veteran kicker still rings up at a career worst 13-for-18 (72 percent), and he's made just one kick over 50 yards on four tries. The Bills travel to Dallas on Thursday, so Hauschka should benefit from the dome environment for the first time this year.

Bounces back in win
Hauschka made all seven of his kicks in Sunday's win over Miami -- four extra points and field goals from 51, 34 and 21 yards.
Analysis: This was quite the bounce back after Hausch Money wasn't so money in the previous tight loss to the Browns, missing two key field goals in a tight loss. Hauschka also broke a string of five straight missed kicks from 50-plus yards. The veteran appears to have figured some things out, though we'll see if he gets another game free of weather issues when the Bills host the Broncos in Week 12.

Misfires prove costly
Hauschka missed both of his field-goal tries during Sunday's loss to the Browns, a short one from 34 yards and a game-tying attempt from 53 yards out on the Bills' last-minute drive.
Analysis: Hauschka did make both of his extra-points tries, but this was not one of his better days as a pro and the misses cost his team the game. While his 62 percent rate on field goals isn't getting the job done, Hauschka -- who's in his third season with the team -- has built up quite a bit of cred with coach Sean McDermott, who gave his veteran kicker a vote of confidence following the game. Next week's game in Miami looks like one of the last weather-friendly games left on the Bills' schedule.

Perfect in expected win
Hauschka made his only field-goal attempt -- a 42-yarder -- and all three extra-point attempts during Sunday's win over Washington.
Analysis: Volume has been an issue for Hauschka as the Bills continue to look for more offensive pop under second-year quarterback Josh Allen, with Hausch Money having zero or one attempts in three of the last four games. And while the Bills have had trouble scoring, making matters worse is that they've been incredibly effective when they have reached the red zone, converting an eye-popping 15 out of 21 red-zone trips into touchdowns. Hauschka's 39 points on the season currently puts him 26th among all…read more
