Miller could get first crack at the starting running back job for Miami next season, the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero reports.

Analysis: Miller is the closest player talent-wise on Miami's roster that can replace Reggie Bush, should he depart in free agency. However, the Dolphins are sure to draft or sign a RB in free agency to compete for the starting job.

Miller had five rushes for only 13 yards and two receptions for 22 yards Sunday.

Analysis: Miller never really had much of a chance to display his game breaking speed this season, his inability to pick up the blitz being the main reason. Another off-season of mini and training camps should certainly help, so will the departure of Reggie Bush should that come to pass.

Analysis: A very good output for Miller, who moved into the backup role behind Reggie Bush, when Daniel Thomas (knee) was placed on IR. However, despite the solid effort, he remains firmly planted behind Bush on the depth chart.

Analysis: Though the news is positive, it does not mean the USC product will not miss time. Keep tabs on his practice participation this week. Daniel Thomas and Lamar Miller will shoulder the load in his absence.

Analysis: Miller may be the Dolphins most explosive player and the way the offense has looked in the first two games, the coaching staff is going to have to figure out a plan to get him the ball in space as often as possible.

How much he plays could very well depend upon how fast he can pick up blitz coverage. He won't pass Reggie Bush on the depth chart this season, but Daniel Thomas should be worried.
