The Dolphins expect big things from Miller in his sophomore season, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Analysis: The Dolphins have yet to make an offer to free agent Reggie Bush. Miller and Bush have similar skill sets and the team may not want to pay Bush the money he will get on the free agent market, but rather let Miller get his chance to earn the starting job and bring in a backup to compete with Daniel Thomas.

Miller could get first crack at the starting running back job for Miami next season, the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero reports.
Analysis: Miller is the closest player talent-wise on Miami's roster that can replace Reggie Bush, should he depart in free agency. However, the Dolphins are sure to draft or sign a RB in free agency to compete for the starting job.

Miller had five rushes for only 13 yards and two receptions for 22 yards Sunday.
Analysis: Miller never really had much of a chance to display his game breaking speed this season, his inability to pick up the blitz being the main reason. Another off-season of mini and training camps should certainly help, so will the departure of Reggie Bush should that come to pass.

Miller had 10 carries for 72 yards Sunday against the Bills.
Analysis: A very good output for Miller, who moved into the backup role behind Reggie Bush, when Daniel Thomas (knee) was placed on IR. However, despite the solid effort, he remains firmly planted behind Bush on the depth chart.

With Daniel Thomas having been placed on IR, Miller figures to see added opportunities behind Reggie Bush down the stretch.
Analysis: Bush is coming off a 21-carry, 104-yard effort in Week 15, so he figures to continue to lead the way in the Dolphins' backfield on Sunday against the Bills, but when he needs a breather, the Dolphins are in line to turn to Miller, who recorded six carries for 18 yards in Week 15.

Miller is inactive for Sunday's game against the Seahawks, the Dolphins' official site reports.
Analysis: Miller is behind Reggie Bush and Daniel Thomas on the depth chart and hasn't done enough recently to justify more playing time.

Miller had three carries for 12 yards and two receptions for 13 yards in Sunday's loss to the Titans.
Analysis: The Dolphins were down big early which meant they had to put the ball in the air to try and come back. Miller is still no better than the third option when it comes to carries. His breakout game may not come until next season at this rate.

Miller only played two snaps in Sunday's loss to Indianapolis, according to the Palm Beach Post's Ben Volin.
Analysis: So much for Miller being the Dolphins' secret weapon this season. Perhaps they are saving him for the second half, or more likely, he will play a more prominent role in the offense next season, especially if Reggie Bush is no longer with the team.

Miller hasn't registered a carry or reception since Week 5.
Analysis: Daniel Thomas (concussion) missed last week's game against the Rams, but Miller still wasn't able to make any impact. Thomas figures to return after the Dolphins' bye week, meaning that Miller has almost no short-term value.

Bush avoids serious issues
An MRI revealed no structural damage in Reggie Bush's knee. FULL STORY
Analysis: Though the news is positive, it does not mean the USC product will not miss time. Keep tabs on his practice participation this week. Daniel Thomas and Lamar Miller will shoulder the load in his absence.

Miller (ankle) had nine carries for 48 yards Sunday against the Jets.
Analysis: Miller got a few extra carries after Reggie Bush had to leave the game with a knee injury, although Daniel Thomas led the rushing charge at that point. If Bush is forced to miss any time, Thomas will likely be the lead back, with Miller getting any extra carries.

Miller (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against the Jets.
Analysis: Miller's fantasy prospects were already somewhat limited, but with Daniel Thomas back in the fold after missing Week 2 with a concussion, it appears Miller's time will have to wait.

Miller (ankle) is listed as probable for Sunday's game against the Jets, the Dolphins' official site reports.
Analysis: That said, with Daniel Thomas back in action, it's possible that Miller could be among the Dolphins' inactives on Sunday, despite his solid Week 2 showing. Either way, Thomas and/or Miller are clearly behind starting RB Reggie Bush.

Miller's teammate, Daniel Thomas, is expected to play Sunday against the Jets after sitting out Week 2's contest with a concussion, South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
Analysis: Assuming the No. 2 RB duties behind Reggie Bush, Miller, who was inactive in Week 1, had 10 carries for 65 yards and a touchdown this past Sunday against the Raiders. With Thomas back in the mix, the two figure to jostle for positioning, but Bush is still the team's clear-cut top back, given his strong start.

Miller had 10 carries for 65 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Raiders.
Analysis: Miller scored on a 15-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter that put the nail in the Raiders' coffin. Reggie Bush had 26 carries and Miller is in no position to grab a bigger piece of the pie, although he may have solidified his spot above Daniel Thomas (concussion) on the depth chart.

Miller could be in for a bigger role this Sunday, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Analysis: With Daniel Thomas being questionable to play due to a concussion, Miller would be the backup to Reggie Bush. Miller may have to play more anyway as a lackluster Dolphins offense can't afford to sit anyone with any semblance of big play ability.

Miller finished the pre-season with 17 carries for 60 yards and one reception for five yards.
Analysis: Outside of Reggie Bush, Miller is the Dolphins best big play threat. Problem is they both play the same position. The Dolphins will try to integrate Miller into the passing game but his value may be limited until if/when Bush suffers an injury.

Miller had five carries for 16 yards and one catch for eight yards Friday against the Falcons.
Analysis: Daniel Thomas was able to amass 29 yards on six carries, so he may have a slight edge for the No. 2 running back job at the moment. However, the explosive rookie Miller should have a chance to showcase his skill set in Miami's final preseason game against the Cowboys.

Miller had three rushes for 11 yard and three receptions for 27 yards in Friday's loss to Carolina.

Miller had five carries for four yards and two receptions for 16 yards in Friday's preseason loss to Tampa Bay. He also returned three punts for 24 yards and two kickoffs for 21 yards.
Analysis: Miller didn't get a ton of action at running back, but his role in the offense should grow as he's been drawing raves in training camp. It looks like he could be a factor in the return game as well.

Miller was fourth on the depth chart released by Miami on Monday, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Analysis: Don't let the ranking fool you, the Dolphins love what they have in Miller and will try to get the ball in his hands whenever they can as outside of Reggie Bush, he may be their best big play threat.

Miller took some reps with the first team during practice Friday, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Analysis: Miller has impressed the coaching staff with his explosiveness, but is earning reps with the top unit because of his improvement in blitz pickup. Miami needs playmakers, that's no secret. Miller is a playmaker and he could play a much bigger role on offense this season than what is expected.

Miller looks explosive so far in camp and could be earning a bigger role in the offense, according to the Florida South Sun-Sentinel.
Analysis: Miller is a threat to go all the way every time he touches the ball and that is pretty obvious to everyone around him. How much he plays could very well depend upon how fast he can pick up blitz coverage. He won't pass Reggie Bush on the depth chart this season, but Daniel Thomas should be worried.

Miller is expected to be the kick returner for Miami this season, according to the Florida South Sun-Sentinel.

Miller could see some time in the slot this season, according to the Miami Herald.
Analysis: Miller has the speed and quickness that could give the Dolphins a mismatch if they can get him in the open field. He still will fight for carries with Reggie Bush and Daniel Thomas so his upside is limited, that being said the Dolphins love him and believe he could be a big playmaker for them.

The Dolphins plan to utilize the speed of Miller (shoulder, knee) in the upcoming season, according to the Palm Beach Post.
Analysis: Miller runs a 4.4 40 and the Dolphins want to use that speed to get as many big plays as possible. Miller will play on kick returns and be used as a receiver on third downs to cause nightmares for the defense. Miller admits his shoulder is not quite healed, but he should be cleared for contact before camp opens up.

Lamar Miller: Staying In Miami
The Dolphins selected Miller in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft, 97th overall.
Analysis: Miller was expected to go much earlier than this, so we suspect there's either some character or injury concerns with him. He's not polished as a passing-down back and isn't strong, but Miller is exceptionally explosive and elusive, and he's not afraid of or inept at navigating through traffic. We have to suspect that, health permitting, Reggie Bush and Daniel Thomas' days of relevance in Miami might not extend past 2012. Miller is just a better runner than either.
