Broyles (knee) has begun running as part of his rehabilitation.
Analysis: Broyles is no stranger to ACL rehab, having undergone it during his senior year of college. The hope is having him available for Week 1, but that will be no easy feat considering he tore the ligament in early December. There are sure to be plenty of updates on his condition throughout the spring and summer.

Broyles (knee) began running in a pool Monday.
Analysis: Broyles suffered an ACL tear in his right knee Dec. 2 but hopes to be ready for Week 1 of the 2013 season, just as he was this past season after he tore the ACL in his left knee during his senior year at Oklahoma. With the Lions likely to explore every avenue to part ways with Titus Young in the offseason, Broyles and Nate Burleson (leg) will both be in the mix for the No. 2 wide receiver job, assuming their respective rehabs progress without any hitches.

Broyles, who tore his right ACL in December, may not be ready to play by the start of the 2013 season, the Lions' official site reports. "I feel pretty confident he's going to get through this one too," said GM Martin Mayhew, referencing the fact that Broyles tore his left ACL in November of 2011. "But next (season) might be the same as this year was where he may not do much during camp and he may come on around midseason. That's kind of the way that might go."
Analysis: Given Broyles' knee woes and the uncertainly surrounding Titus Young's future with the team, we'd expect the Lions to bolster their depth at wideout this offseason. From a fantasy standpoint, Broyles has modest keeper value, but barring an accelerated comeback from his knee injury, he projects as a potential in-season pickup in re-draft formats.

Titus Young moved to injured reserve by Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions placed their troubled wide receiver on injured reserve Tuesday, a convenient move that works for all parties involved.
Analysis: We're not sure what injury Young suffered, unless overinflated ego is a thing. Either way, the big winner in this is Mike Thomas. With Ryan Broyles out for the season with a knee injury, Thomas is now Detroit's No. 2 receiver.

Ryan Broyles: Tears ACL, Out for Year
Broyles tore his right ACL during Sunday's loss to Indianapolis and is out for the year, the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: This marks his second ACL tear in two seasons, as he did so on November 5, 2011 while at Oklahoma. We should note that the previous tear was on his left knee, so a lengthy rehab process is likely to take place once again. Since he did not receive his first target until Week 7 this season, we would expect a similar forecast for a return in 2013. Meanwhile, with Titus Young (coach's decision) inactive this week and perhaps going forward, Mike Thomas is next in line for targets in the Lions' passing attack.

Coach Jim Schwartz said that Broyles is slated to undergo tests on his right knee Monday, MLive.com reports. "We'll do some tests tomorrow," Schwartz said Sunday, "but there's some concern."
Analysis: That his coach is worried about his knee is not the best news, but note that the torn ACL that Broyles suffered last November was in his left knee. If Broyles is forced to miss time, the Lions would either turn to Mike Thomas or perhaps Titus Young, if he can get back in favor with the team in the coming days.

Broyles, who was seen on the sideline in the second half of Sunday's game against Indianapolis in street clothes, was ruled out with a knee injury, MLive.com reports.

Young INACTIVE
Detroit Lions wide receiver Titus Young was not seen in pre-game warmup drills, likey because of previous his behavior issues. He's officially inactive again. FULL SUNDAY INJURY ROUNDUP

Broyles is the Lions' clear No. 2 wideout Sunday against Indianapolis, due to Titus Young's inactive status, the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: With Young away from the team on Thanksgiving day against Houston, Broyles received 13 targets, hauling in six for 126 yards. He should be a great option yet again versus a Colts secondary that has been susceptible to the pass this season, giving up 14 touchdowns to opposing wide receivers.

Megatron on record pace
In his Week 13 "Like/Dislike" analysis, Adam Rank notes, "Calvin Johnson leads the NFL with 1,257 receiving yards. He is on pace for 1,828 receiving yards this season, which would be the second-best receiving season of all time, behind only Jerry Rice (1,848 yards in 1995)." READ: LIKE/DISLIKE
Analysis: The Colts have among the worst TD/INT ratios, allowing 19 scores compared to just five picks on the season. Megatron and teammate Ryan Broyles will have their share of scoring opportunities on Sunday.

Broyles caught six passes for 126 yards in Thursday's overtime loss to the Texans.
Analysis: Broyles, who was targeted 12 times Thursday, took advantage of the added opportunities afforded by the deactivation of Titus Young this week. It's uncertain how much and how quickly the Lions intend to work Young back in, but Broyles certainly made a solid case Thursday for an expanded role going forward.

Broyles gets his opportunity
In his "Front Office View" analysis, Michael Lombardi notes, "Losing receiver Nate Burleson to injury has really hurt the Detroit Lions. Titus Young has not proven he can handle the starting receiver role, talent-wise or on an emotional level. The Lions did the right thing by sending him home this week and deactivating him ahead of the upcoming matchup with the Houston Texans." READ: FRONT OFFICE VIEW

Broyles had six catches for 52 yards Sunday against the Jaguars.

Broyles had three catches on five targets for 37 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Seahawks.
Analysis: Broyles is seeing more time on the field with Nate Burleson on IR and he's clearly developed a good relationship with quarterback Matthew Stafford. He caught a six-yard touchdown at the end of the first quarter and remained active throughout the game. His upside is somewhat limited with Calvin Johnson and Titus Young ahead of him on the depth chart, although with how much the Lions throw the ball, he should get a decent number of opportunities to produce.

Broyles is not among the Lions' inactives for Sunday's game against the 49ers.

Analysis: Broyles may not be 100 percent healthy, but he has given the Lions some modest production during the preseason and will see plenty of reps come Sunday. Ryan Broyles: (ACL) Makes Return Against Ravens
Broyles (ACL) played against Baltimore on Friday, catching two passes for 26 yards.
Analysis: He's not quite pulling an Adrian Peterson, but Broyles' pace of recovery is still remarkable. He tore his ACL on Nov. 5, so he's not even at the 10-month mark in the recovery process. He made it onto the field Friday, though, and barring aggravation, Nate Burleson's days of being relevant are very numbered. Broyles is Detroit's future in the slot, and the future is closer than everyone thought.

We don't expect him to start right out of the gate, but he should be in the mix for significant playing time at some point this season. The Lions have removed Broyles (knee) from the team's non-football injury list, the team's official site reports.
Analysis: The move paves the way for him to join his teammates at practice, but given that Broyles tore his ACL back in November, look for him to be brought along slowly out of the gate. We like Broyles' long-term upside and considering that they used the 54th overall pick in April's draft on him, the Lions do as well. He'll need some time to get back up to speed though, but once he does, there will be value to be had as his role in the Lions' dynamic passing offense grows.

Broyles (torn ACL) is expected to play at some point this season, MLicve.com's Anwar Richardson reports.
Analysis: Broyles tore his ACL in November, so there's almost no chance that he will be ready for Week 1. The Lions would be thrilled if Broyles can come off of the PUP list after Week 6 and contribute. For drafting purposes you can safely ignore Broyles outside of keeper leagues and the very deepest of formats. If Broyles recovers from this injury and returns to the form he showed at Oklahoma, the Lions have a potentially devastating group of receivers for the foreseeable future.

Broyles (knee) is a candidate to open training camp on the Lions' PUP list, the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: Broyles tore the ACL in his left knee during his senior season at Oklahoma, and while he's not sure if he's going to be on the PUP list when practice begins Friday, he did say, "I'm going to be out there doing something." Considering that the Lions used the 54th overall pick in April's draft on Broyles -- in spite of his knee injury -- it's safe to say the team has long-term plans for the wideout. We suspect it will take him some time to make a big splash, but given the upside of the Detroit passing offense, when his time comes, he'll have a chance to make a fantasy impact.

Broyles' former receivers coach, Jay Norvell compares Broyles (knee) to Marvin Harrison, the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: Norvell coached Marvin Harrison in Indianapolis, and feels Broyles has the same mental make-up that Harrison had. "He's very similar to Marvin in his intellect and the way that he sees the game," Norvell said. "His mind is always racing at 100 m.p.h., trying to evaluate the next step, the next play, the next opportunity, and that's the way Marvin was. He was always surveying the field and making split-second decisions before they happened. That's an ability." Broyles continues to work his way back from a torn ACL that he suffered last November, so it may be a while before the Lions fully turn him loose, but given where he was selected -- 54th overall -- the Lions like his long-term potential.

Broyles participated in many of the wide receiver drills at Monday's OTAs and wasn't wearing a knee brace, the Detroit Free Press reports.
Analysis: This has to qualify as a pleasant surprise for the Lions considering Broyles tore his ACL on Nov. 5, but the team must have known Broyles' rehab was going well when they invested a second round pick in April's draft. Among the drills Broyles took part in was a four-cone change of direction drill, which would seem to indicate that his knee is virtually good to go.

The Lions selected Broyles (ACL) in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft, 54th overall.

Ryan Broyles: Getting His Wheels Back
Broyles (ACL) ran the 40-yard dash in 4.57 seconds at a pre-draft workout Thursday, SoonerSports.com reports.
Analysis: Considering he tore his ACL on Nov. 5, Broyle's time is very impressive, even if it was run on a friendly track. Broyles' fast recovery is proof that he's a hard worker, and his exceptional effectiveness in college is proof of his talent. We wouldn't be surprised if several years from now some teams wish they selected Broyles in the first round, but he could fall to the third round due to his injury. We're confident he'll be ready to go before Week 1, though.
