Nate Kaeding has been signed by the Bucs to be a competitor in camp for Barth, according to Bucs reporter Jenna Laine.
Analysis: Kaeding is a one-time Pro-Bowl level kicker but those days appear to be past him. Barth should be able to hold on to his job but keep an eye on this situation this offseason just in case Kaeding regains his old form and Barth struggles.

Barth had another strong year in 2012 as he converted 28-of-33 field goal attemps and made all 39 of his extra point attempts.
Analysis: Barth not only has a very accurate leg, it's also very powerful, as he made a whopping nine field goals from 50-plus yards in 2012. Imagine the fantasy (and real-life) numbers he could rack up in 2013 were the Bucs' offense able to move the ball more consistently.

Barth made both of his field goal attempts (including a long of 49 yards) in the Bucs' 28-13 loss to the Rams Sunday.
Analysis: Barth also made his only extra point attempt. He now is 25-of-30 on field goals this season and may add at least one more Week 17 against a Falcons team sure to rest some regulars on defense.

Barth was 2-of-2 (with a long of 45 yards) on field goals and made all four extra point attempts in the Bucs' 34-24 victory over the Chargers Sunday.
Analysis: Barth is a solid fantasy (and real-life) option at kicker.

Barth was 3-of-3 on field goals (with a long of 40) and 3-of-3 on extra points in the Bucs' 36-17 victory over the Vikings Thursday night.
Analysis: It was nice to see Barth get back on track a bit after missing one attempt in each of his last two games. He is a solid option as a kicker for fantasy (and real-life) purposes.

Barth was 2-of-2 on field goals (45 and 52 yards)and 4-of-4 on extra points in the Bucs' 41-34 loss to the Giants on Sunday.
Analysis: Barth has now made 20 straight field goals dating back to the 2011 season as he has become one of the best kickers in the league, provided he can get enough opportunities to score.

Barth kicked field goals of 20, 36, and 40 yards in the Bucs' 16-10 victory over the Panthers on Sunday.
Analysis: Barth made all three of his field-goal attempts and his only extra point Sunday as he looks to be his usual accurate self to start 2012.

Barth nailed a 56-yard field goal and made both his extra-point attempts in the Bucs' preseason victory over the Patriots Friday.
Analysis: Although rookie kicker Kai Forbath has looked good this preseason, Barth has proved he is one of the better kickers in the league right now and should put up solid numbers yet again in 2012.

Barth has re-signed with the Bucs, Adam Shefter of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Barth signed a four-year, $13.2 million contract with $4 million guaranteed. He has the fourth-best field goal percentage in the NFL over the last two seasons, but his fantasy impact was limited last season, as he scored a modest 101 points, a figure exceeded by 21 NFL kickers in 2011.

Barth is planning on attending OTA's and possibly signing a long-term deal soon, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: The Bucs' franchise designee has not signed his $2.645 million tender nor reached an agreement on a long-term deal yet. Barth set a franchise record by connecting on 26-of-28 field goal attempts last season (92.9 percent). He is believed to be seeking a long-term deal in excess of $3 million per year. He did not participate in the Bucs voluntary veteran minicamp prior to the NFL draft. Assuming the Bucs lock him up, Barth is a solid fantasy option due to his strong and accurate leg.

Barth, who was franchised by the Bucs on Monday, had a very strong 2011 season as he made 26-of-28 field goals and all 23 extra point attempts for 101 points.
Analysis: Barth is one of the better kickers in the league and was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise disappointing 2011 season for the Bucs. If the Bucs offense can turn things around in 2012, Barth could score more points making him a more valuable fantasy option at kicker.

Connor Barth: The Latest Kicker to be Franchised
The Buccaneers used their franchise tag on Barth on Monday, the team's official Twitter account reports.
Analysis: Barth made 26-of-28 field goals last year, including a 55-yarder. The tag allows Tampa to retain Barth's productivity without making a long-term commitment.

GM Mark Dominik said the Bucs will franchise Barth if a multi-year deal isn't reached with the kicker later Monday, the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Analysis: Barth was money last season, hitting 92.9 percent of his field goal attempts (26-of-28), good for the second-highest accuracy rating in the league behind Matt Bryant, thus it's not surprising the Bucs would like to keep him around.
