The Titans are hoping to sign Greene, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports.

Analysis: Greene is visiting with the Titans on Wednesday and if the deal gets done, he'd work with Chris Johnson in a complementary role, an arrangement that would represent a hit to the fantasy value of both players.

Greene is expected to draw interest in free agency from the Falcons and Broncos, ESPN.com reports.

Analysis: With Michael Turner reportedly on the way out in Atlanta and the Broncos perhaps looking to shake up their backfield, the fits outlined here make sense, with the report adding that it looks like the Jets are prepared to move with Bilal Powell, supplemented by a speed back.

Rich Cimini of ESPN.com suggests that the Jets aren't likely to re-sign Greene, who is ticketed for free agency.

Analysis: The report notes that Greene is not an ideal fit for Marty Mornhinweg's West-Coast system, but despite his lack of explosiveness, Greene's between-the-tackles ability will no doubt make him a back of interest in free agency. If Greene does indeed depart, then the 2013 Jets would trot out Bilal Powell and Joe McKnight, quite possibly bolstered by a draft pick and/or free agent signee.

Although Greene ran for a career-best 1,063 yards and eight touchdowns in 2012, his per-carry average (3.9) was the lowest it's been since he joined the NFL in 2009.

Analysis: Greene continued to be a liability in the passing game - he caught 19 passes for 151 yards in 2012. The Jets need to think about adding more competition in the backfield for 2013.

Greene looking to post second straight 1,000 yard season

In his Week 17 "Like/Dislike" analysis, Adam Rank notes, "Shonn Greene leads the Jets with 989 yards rushing (15th in NFL) and eight touchdowns. Greene is looking for back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons (1,054 yards in 2011)." FULL LIKE/DISLIKE ANALYSIS

Analysis: Despite Bilal Powell seeing an increase in carries, the veteran has seen an uptick in production, scoring double-digit fantasy points in three of his last four outings.

Greene the lone Jets play

In his Week 17 "Start 'Em, Sit 'Em" report, Michael Fabiano notes the Bills "have surrendered the second-most fantasy points to opposing running backs on their home field." FULL START 'EM, SIT 'EM

Analysis: The Men in Green have just one viable fantasy option on their roster, and it's Greene. He's worth at least a flex start against the Bills.

Greene had 14 carries for 38 rushing yards and two touchdowns, as well as two catches on three targets for 42 receiving yards Sunday against the Chargers.

Analysis: While his yardage figure wasn't great, Greene's two one-yard touchdown runs certainly made up for it. Backup Bilal Powell lost three yards on three carries, so it was certainly Greene's backfield Sunday. Up next is a matchup against the Bills, who allowed 94 rushing yards and a touchdown to Greene in Week 1.

Chargers stout vs. run

In his Week 16 "Start 'Em, Sit 'Em" analysis, Michael Fabiano notes, "the Chargers have allowed the seventh-fewest fantasy points to runners on the road in 2012." FULL START 'EM, SIT 'EM

Analysis: Greene is on the verge of a 1,000-yard season, but he hasn't been reliable. In fact, the veteran has scored fewer than seven fantasy points in four of his last six games.

Greene had 13 carries for 68 yards and caught two passes for one yard Monday against the Titans.

Analysis: Joe McKnight had four carries for 29 yards and Bilal Powell eight touches for 43 yards as the Jets continue to split backfield work among the different backs. Greene looked the more powerful a decisive of the bunch, but five Mark Sanchez turnovers sapped much potential for any back to do much damage in this one. San Diego's stiff run defense is up next in Week 16.

Powell taking the lead

Analysis: Bilal Powell has four touchdowns in his last four games, and at least 11 points in three of those games. Powell has become a more trustworthy play for fantasy owners despite the presence of Shonn Greene. Still, temper expectations as the back is still in a timeshare situation.

Analysis: The Jets pounded the ball all afternoon but split the backfield work between Greene and Bilal Powell, the latter of whom finished with 19 carries for 78 yards and a score. The Jets seem to be getting more comfortable increasing Powell's workload, which only works against Greene moving forward. Up next is a road game against the Titans in Week 15.

Powell taking lead role

Analysis: Despite the presence of Shonn Greene, Rank advises "Bilal Powell is the Jets running back to use. He's had at least 11 fantasy points in two of his last three games. And he's had 12 touches in three consecutive games."

Powell a Week 14 sleeper

In his "Week 14 Sleepers" analysis, Adam Rank notes, "Powell has scored at least 11 fantasy points in two of his last three games and has had at least 12 touches in those games. Analysis: With continued struggles at the quarterback position, look for the Jets to use both Powell and Shonn Greene heavily. The Jaguars are ranked 31st against the run, allowing an average of 144 yards per game and 16 scores this season.

Analysis: Greene has been losing some carries to Bilal Powell in recent weeks, but he still makes a nice flex play given the matchup.

Greene had 24 carries for 104 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Cardinals.

Analysis: Bilal Powell had been eating into Greene's carries as of late, but the latter finished with twice as many carries Sunday. It was Greene's second 100-yard game this season, after he rumbled for 161 in Week 6 against the Colts. His 24 carries were also the most he's had since that Week 6 contest and if the Jets continue to roll with Greg McElroy under center, Greene could be heavily worked again next week against the Jaguars.

Greene, Powell focus of offense

In his "Week 13 Predictions" analysis, Elliot Harrison notes, "I fully anticipate Shonn Greene and Bilal Powell to get at least 30 carries between them. In their four wins, the Jets have averaged 32.3 rushing attempts." FULL WEEK 13 PREDICTIONS

Cardinals tough on RBs

Analysis: Greene has fallen into a deep statistical slumber, scoring fewer than seven fantasy points in each of his last three games while also losing carries to Bilal Powell.

Greene had 14 carries for 71 yards in Thursday's loss to the Patriots. He also added one catch for nine yards.

Analysis: Meanwhile, Bilal Powell carried 12 times for 40 yards and a touchdown, while catching two passes for 13 yards in the game. While Greene has 32 carries to Powell's 23 over the past two games, Powell has scored three times in that span, while Greene hasn't hit paydirt since October 21. With the Jets' backfield having morphed into a time-share, Greene's upside is capped, especially with Powell getting his share of scoring opportunities of late.

Greene had 18 carries for 64 yards in Sunday's victory at St. Louis. He didn't see any action in the passing game.

Analysis: Greene didn't get into the end zone, but Bilal Powell did, twice, so the Jets' backfield is a little jumbled going forward (Powell saw 28 snaps to Greene's 26). The Patriots are next up in a Thanksgiving night affair.

Greene had 18 carries for 64 rushing yards Sunday against the Rams.

Analysis: A fairly muted effort for Greene, who saw Bilal Powell score the first two touchdowns of his career Sunday. Greene finished with seven more carries than Powell and while neither averaged more than 4.0 YPC, it was the latter who got into the end zone. The Jets have a tough matchup on Thanksgiving night against the Patriots, who boast a top-10 defense against the run.

Greene had 15 carries for 58 yards in Sunday's loss at Seattle. He also had one catch for five yards.

Analysis: It was a mediocre day from a mediocre back, though the volume kept it from being a full washout. Greene won't get anything easy next week at St. Louis.

Greene faces uphill battle

In his Week 10 "Fantasy Matchups" breakdown, Marcas Grant notes, "Last week the Seahawks were gashed by run. But that was against Adrian Peterson. Don't expect similar from Shonn Greene. Analysis: With Pete Carroll having intimate knowledge of Mark Sanchez' weaknesses, the Seahawks defensive front should be able to focus solely on Greene. They are only allowing an average of 14.02 points per game to opposing running backs this season.

Analysis: Greene has been hot in recent weeks, averaging 19.8 fantasy points in his last three games. With that said, his numbers have also dropped in each of those contests.

Greene had 77 rushing yards on 15 carries and 29 receiving yards on two catches Sunday against the Dolphins.

Analysis: Greene has now eclipsed 85 total yards in three straight games, although Sunday was his first in that span without a touchdown. Backup Bilal Powell remains sidelined with a shoulder injury and third stringer Joe McKnight aggravated his ankle Sunday, leaving Greene as the only real option in the Jets' backfield. It's certainly possible that Powell and McKnight return after the bye, which means Greene's workload should remain consistent despite the injuries.

Greene's hot-streak could end in Week 8

In his Week 8 Start 'Em, Sit 'Em analysis, fantasy guru Michael Fabiano notes Shonn Greene's recent success could come to a halt this week against the Dolphins. Analysis: Greene has been a nice option over the last two weeks, so it's tough to bench him, but temper expectations.

Greene (head) does not appear on Wednesday's practice participation/injury report.

Analysis: Greene's availability for Sunday's game against the Dolphins appears secure, which is more than can be said about his top backups, Bilal Powell and Joe McKnight, who both sat out Wednesday's practice.

Shonn Greene: Bounces Back After Tough Hit

Greene, who left Sunday's game with a head injury but returned for a spell in the overtime session, has said "he's good" several times following the game, according to ESPN New York.

Analysis: By putting the pieces together without any hard facts, we assume Greene went through the league's concussion protocol during the game and was cleared, otherwise he wouldn't have been allowed back on the field. We'd still check his status throughout the week, but between Greene lobbying to get back in after taking a tough hit from Patriots linebacker Brandon Spikes in the fourth quarter, and the fact that team medical officials let him back out there, it sounds like he may have escaped a concussion or serious head injury. We'll see how he practices this week to be safe.

Greene had 16 carries for 54 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's loss at New England. He also caught six passes for 34 yards.

Analysis: The average wasn't pretty, but Greene showed decent vision and decisiveness on a number of runs. We'll need to check his physical status in a day or two, alas; he was shaken up late in the game and could be a physical concern for Week 8 (albeit he briefly played in overtime).

Greene was shaken up by a Brandon Spikes hit in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game against the Patriots.

Analysis: With Bilal Powell inactive, the Jets are down to Joe McKnight, Jonathan Grimes, Lex Hilliard and Tim Tebow as possible ball-carrying options, as long as Greene is out.

Patriots stout versus the run

In his Week 7 Predictions, NFL.com's Elliot Harrison believes "Shonn Greene's sequel to last week's 161 spot will be more "Hot Shots! Part Deux" than "The Godfather Part II." Analysis: Don't expect Greene to produce in fantasy land either. The Patriots have only allowed two rushing scores all season and though their secondary is vulnerable, Sanchez has no weapons to throw to. Avoid both players unless you're in a bye week bind.

Analysis: A monster game for Greene, who had been really struggling this season to break out in any way. He actually had some extra carries in the Jets' blowout thanks to injuries to both Bilal Powell and Joe McKnight. If anything is clear, it's that the Jets' backfield belongs to Greene and the team will continue to ride him as long as he's hot. A date next week with the Patriots will give Greene owners a clear indication if he's turned the corner or if Sunday's performance was purely a fluke.

Greene pulls trifecta

Led by 161 yards and three TDs from Shonn Greene, the Jets finally figured out a way to dictate the pace of a game with their rushing attack in a 35-9 win over the Indianapolis Colts. FULL STORY

Analysis: While the production was welcome by fantasy owners, hold off on buying fully into the performance. The Colts were ranked 26th against the run, allowing an average of 135 yards rushing per game.

Analysis: The Colts are allowing an average of 22.48 fantasy points per game to opposing RBs this season. The bigger question is how much Bilal Powell will eat into his touches. Consider Greene a high-risk/reward option this week.

Coach Rex Ryan plans to stick with Greene, who has averaged 2.9 yards per carry thus far, as the Jets' starting running back, the Daily News reports. "Have I lost confidence in Shonn Greene? The answer is no," Ryan said on Thursday. "I think we keep giving him the ball. He's working extremely hard. I just think it's a matter of time before he really starts popping."

Analysis: In his role as the Jets' third-down back, Bilal Powell has received more snaps in each of the team's last two games, but Greene will remain the starter, though as Ryan noted, "I think Powell has really earned the right to play some." A time-share favoring Greene appears to be on tap for Sunday's game against the Colts, who are allowing 135.8 yards per game on the ground, but Ryan hopes that an emphasis on improved blocking will help open some holes in Week 6 for the scuffling Greene.

Greene had eight carries for 26 yards and caught one pass for 19 yards in Monday's loss to the Texans.

Analysis: Through five games, Greene has averaged a career-low 2.9 yards per carry and it's not hard to imagine the Jets giving Bilal Powell (four carries for 18 yards Monday) and perhaps even Joe McKnight (four carries for five yards Monday) more looks going forward. Next up for the Jets are the Colts, who have allowed 133.8 rushing yards per game, but despite looking at a better matchup than he faced Monday, at this point it's hard to get too fired up about Greene's Week 6 prospects.

Jets RBs face uphill battle

Analysis: Neither back provides much upside this week for fantasy owners. The Texans defense is the only unit in the NFL which has yet to allow a rushing score this season.

Tebow should be named starter

NFL.com's Jeff Darlington believes the Jets should embrace the inevitable and name Tim Tebow as their starting quarterback given their current state. FULL STORY

Analysis: Starting Tebow could actually be what fantasy owners are hoping for. A Wildcat offense would likely boost the values of Shonn Greene, Bilal Powell and Tebow, while the alternative has already proven to leave your Jets players as secondary options. It might be worth stashing the Florida product if there is room on your roster, but take a wait- and -see approach.

Greene was held to 34 yards on 11 carries in Sunday's loss to San Francisco. His longest rush went for five yards.

Analysis: A lot of backs struggle against the Niners front seven; then again, Greene struggles against almost everyone these days. The Texans, boasting perhaps the NFL's most complete defense, come calling in Week 5.

Holmes will not play Week 5

Analysis: The loss of Holmes leaves little fantasy value for the Jets' players who are healthy. Defenses will likely pin their ears back and be in full attack mode, limiting the potential of Shonn Greene and Mark Sanchez, whose performances of late should already have them on your bench.

Analysis: Greene has been slowly ceding carries to Bilal Powell, who is averaging double the yards per carry despite fewer attempts. Pluck him off the waiver wire since it looks like this could become a timeshare situation if Greene continues to struggle.

Analysis: Greene needed nine more carries to gain five fewer yards than backup Bilal Powell and the former has only 63 yards in the last two games combined. With all of the early season ground-and-pound talk, Greene's fantasy owners have to be disappointed lately.

Tebow should have been used more

Analysis: Don't get too excited. Until Tebow actually does something in a game, his (currently minimal) fantasy value is purely speculation.

Analysis: Greene briefly left the contest after a heavy hit - a concussion was feared - but he was able to return to action. He's a middling play, as usual, at Miami in Week 3.

Greene had 27 carries for 94 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's romp over the Jets.

Analysis: Not a bad day, albeit the YPC isn't anything to write home about. The sledding will probably be tougher next week against Pittsburgh.

Greene rushed 13 times for 47 yards and caught three passes for eight yards during Sunday's loss to Carolina.

Analysis: Greene had one 18-yard burst up the middle when the blocking was sharp, but he struggled to make anyone miss - or to move the pile - on his own. He needs a lot of things go to right on any play. On the positive side, the Jets want to run a conservative offense and there isn't a dynamic back that's pushing Greene.

Greene accumulated 36 yards on 11 carries (3.3 YPC) and caught two balls for nine yards in the Jets' preseason defeat Saturday at the hands of the Giants.

Analysis: Greene has a firm grasp as the Jets' No. 1 running back option, while Bilal Powell stamped his way to more opportunities with his performance (six carries for 21 yards).

Analysis: The coaching staff has stated their intentions on creating plays specifically for Tebow. Those touches come at the expense of Greene, who might have reached his ceiling after finishing 18th among all fantasy running backs last year. Greene is still a viable No. 2 RB option, but Tebow and McKnight's presence limit his upside.

Analysis: Greene's fantasy season had value, mostly through the volume: he played in all 16 games (look around the league, that's notable) and collected 1265 total yards and six touchdowns. But a 4.2 YPC doesn't overly excite anyone, and he struggles to make unblocked defenders miss. He'll probably be a low-end RB2 in most leagues next year.

Greene (ribs) rushed 24 times for 129 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's romp over the Chiefs. He also had three catches for 58 yards.

Analysis: Looks like those ribs are feeling just fine; Greene has been a dynamic performer for two consecutive weeks. He's also taking advantage of the play of the Jets offensive line, which has been terrific of late. Greene should be a solid play in Week 15 against the Eagles.
