Texans' GM Rick Smith said he doesn't expect Foster to have a heart procedure, the Houston Chronicle reports. "We're comfortable with where he is," Smith said. "Our medical team continues to monitor it. He missed one-half of a practice and one-half of a game, and our doctors treated him. We always monitor (Foster). He's fine."
Analysis: It was reported Thursday that Foster would likely undergo heart surgery. However, Smith is confident Foster's problems are under control by team medical staff. The running back was pulled out of a game this season against Minnesota due to the heart condition, and while he was later cleared to return, he was ultimately held out as a precaution by coach Gary Kubiak.

Foster will likely undergo a heart procedure in about a month, NBC Sports' Alex Flanagan reports.
Analysis: While Foster has been aware he's had a heart problem since he was 12 years old, it first became an issue for him on the football field in this season's Week 16 matchup against the Vikings, causing him to leave the game prematurely. Doctors will look to find what might be the trigger for the shortness of breath he occasionally experiences as a result of the heart ailment, but it isn't expected to be anything that will cause any major problems going forward. More worrisome is the 351 carries he piled up during the regular season to the tune of a ho-hum 4.0 yards per carry.

Arian Foster: Big Game in Loss
Foster totaled 153 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's loss to the Patriots.
Analysis: Foster ran for 90 yards and a score, while catching seven passes for 63 yards and another touchdown. He was one of the few bright spots for the Texans in this game, who were forced to play from behind most of the way. Foster finished the 2012 season with 1,641 total yards and 17 touchdowns and lived up to his high draft stock. He'll enter the 2013 season once again a candidate to be drafted top-3 overall.

Foster carried the ball 32 times for 140 yards and one touchdown Saturday in Houston's 19-13 win over Cincinnati in the first round of the playoffs. He also added 34 receiving yards on eight receptions.
Analysis: This was the third playoff game of Foster's career and he's crossed the 100-yard threshold all three times. The Texans' passing game was not spectacular, but effective enough to provide balance and Foster got good blocking up front from a unit that's sending three players to the Pro Bowl. The situation may be a little different next week when Houston travels to New England for a playoff game against the league's best offense. Handing the ball off to Foster 32 times may not be an option.

Foster had 27 carries for 165 rushing yards and two catches on two targets for four receiving yards Sunday against the Colts.
Analysis: The 165 yards were a season-high for Foster, who now has 1,313 on the season, his third straight with at least 1,200. The Texans can secure home field advantage throughout the AFC Championship game if they win out, which means they'll likely be focusing on Foster for the remainder of the regular season; music to the ears of fantasy owners who have benefitted from his 16 total touchdowns this year.

Analysis: A slow night, but Foster has proven consistent as they come, scoring in every game but one this season, and bumping his total to 16 on the year. He has an excellent shot to hit pay dirt again next week as his three game career line against Indy is 71 carries for 491 yards with five touchdowns and 13 catches for 88 yards.

Analysis: Foster's streak of rushing for at least 90 yards ended at five games but fantasy owners were pleased that he at least got into the end zone for the third time in two games. Backup Justin Forsett ended up with just as many carries as Foster, although that had more to do with the fact that the Texans controlled the game for most of the second half. Foster will be limited in practice Wednesday, Paul Kuharsky of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: This is nothing more than an attempt to rest Foster, who leads the league in carries through three weeks with 79. Limiting Foster's participation during Wednesday practices could be a pattern going forward for coach Gary Kubiak, as he will want to keep his stud running back fresh over the course of the season.

Foster had 25 carries for 105 yards and one catch for three yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Broncos.
Analysis: Foster has now scored at least one touchdown in each game this season and continues to do his best to show why he was worthy of the No. 1 overall pick in most fantasy drafts. Backup Ben Tate coughed the ball up against the Broncos, although he'll likely continue to get above-average backup touches moving forward.

Texans head coach Gary Kubiak explained using both Foster and Ben Tate so much last week was partially due to the heat in Tampa, the Texans' official site reports.
Analysis: Kubiak also mentioned that dividing up the carries is a "feel" thing, as he attempts to balance the desire to keep both backs fresh and roll with the hot runner. "We want them fresh when they're playing, but at the same time, there's something to do with backs that the more they carry it the better they get. I think last week was a little different because it was so darn hot so we're trying to keep a fresh guy out there. I think we're going to go into the game with a set way how we're going to start. How we're going to finish, I don't know. I think it all depends on the flow of the game. It could vary from week to week," said the coach.

Foster (illness) had 28 carries for 110 yards and a touchdown during Sunday's win at Jacksonville. He also added six catches for 37 yards.
Analysis: Foster's illness did nothing to slow him down Sunday; that role was played by Ben Tate, who nabbed two rushing touchdowns. Foster remains an elite back and even with Tate's success, he's one of the best options in fantasy football.

Foster (knee) had 26 carries for 79 yards and two touchdowns during Sunday's win over the Dolphins. He also added one catch for minus 4 yards.
Analysis: A very solid performance for Foster, who was a game-time decision coming into the game. Backup Ben Tate only had five carries and it looks like the backfield work is mostly Foster's for the time being.

Foster (knee) is active for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.

Arian Foster: (Knee) Thinks He Will Play Sunday
Foster, who is considered a game-time decision for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, noted that the issue that is affecting him is "not (his) knee," but rather it's "around the knee area."
Analysis: For his part, Foster said, "I expect to play on Sunday," but as long as the Texans continue to view him as a game-time decision, then his status will need to be monitored closely up until kickoff, regardless of the precise nature of his injury.

Arian Foster: (Knee) Lifted Thursday as a Precaution
Foster's removal from practice Thursday was precautionary in nature, the Houston Chronicle reports. "Precautionary reasons," coach Gary Kubiak confirmed Thursday. "Arian said his knee is a little sore, so we pulled him. He missed like the last third of practice."
Analysis: Brooks Reed also left practice early, with Kubiak further noting, "I expect those two guys are fine." We'll have a better idea if that is actually the case after Friday's practice is complete and the Texans' official injury report is released.

Foster left Thursday's practice with a knee injury that the Texans said was minor, the Sports Xchange reports.
Analysis: "He's OK," coach Gary Kubiak said Thursday. Foster gained 11 yards on one carry and lost a fumble Saturday night in Houston's preseason win over Carolina.
Analysis: The fumble brought back memories of late last season when Foster put the ball on the floor three times in four games. He touches the ball often in the Texans' offense and can't be careless with his handle of the ball. He's safely the lead back in Houston's offense, but we recall Steve Slaton having a problem with fumbles and it opened the door for Foster back in 2010.

Sims-Walker working out with Texans
Lacking depth at wide receiver, the Houston Texans will have Mike Sims-Walker participate in their minicamp this week. CBS Sports radio 610am in Houston reports coach Gary Kubiak thought "he looks good," when talking about the veteran receiver.
Analysis: At this point it is just an extended workout for the former Jaguars receiver. If he does sign, there will still be little fantasy value in drafting him. As long as Andre Johnson and Arian Foster are around, there will be little extra to go around.

Arian Foster: Five-Year Deal With Texans
The Texans have signed Foster to a five-year contract, ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Foster had been a candidate to be franchised, but the 25-year-old, who came into the league as an undrafted free agent, will be rewarded (contract details have yet to be released) for his fine production over the past two seasons as the Texans' starting running back. After racking up 1,616 rushing yards and 16 TDs in 2010, Foster recorded 1,224 rushing yards and 10 TDs in 13 games this past season. He also caught 53 passes for 617 yards. As with any long-term deal with a running back, there is risk -- namely in the form of injuries -- but Foster -- who has emerged as an elite back in both real and fantasy terms -- has certainly earned the raise and financial security that his new deal now affords him.

Arian Foster: (Foot) Will Skip Pro Bowl
Foster was selected to his second Pro Bowl, but won't play because of an injury to his foot, the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: There's nothing so far to indicate that this is a serious issue for Foster, who is slated to be a restricted free agent this offseason. The Texans would like to sign the running back to a long-term deal, but if they can't, they would tender him at the maximum value and would match any offer that he might receive from another team.

Arian Foster: Texans Locked Into No. 3 Seed
Heading into Week 17, Foster and the Texans are locked into the No. 3 playoff seed in the AFC.
Analysis: Given the injury issues that Foster experienced earlier this season and the fact that the Texans playoff seeding is locked in, it's easy to imagine a scenario next week where Foster sits or is limited. His situation is a reminder for those owners still playing in Week 17 to be aware of what NFL teams are playing for and who might be rested, as a result.

Foster had 23 carries for 158 yards and a touchdown and added three catches for 16 yards Thursday against the Colts.
Analysis: It is safe to say that Foster owners that complained about the running back's early hamstring issues were handsomely rewarded in many leagues' fantasy championship week. It depends how the games Saturday shake out, but after the loss to the Colts it is possible the Texans could now be locked into their seeding heading into Week 17, making it likely the starters would not face the Titans. Regardless, Foster's play this season has kept him in the discussion for the first overall pick in fantasy drafts come 2012.

Foster carried the ball 16 times for 109 yards and a touchdown while catching five passes for another 58 yards in Houston's 28-13 loss to Carolina in Week 15 on Sunday. He also lost a fumble on the Texans' opening drive, leading to a Panthers touchdown.
Analysis: It was another strong performance from Foster, who passed the 1,000-yard mark for the season in the game. Unfortunately, the game is notable for the fumble, the third one he's lost in the past four weeks. Houston has been able to overcome turnovers, but not Sunday when rookie quarterback T.J. Yates looked every bit of the rookie that he is.

Foster was held to 41 yards on 15 carries and failed to score a touchdown for the first time in seven weeks in Houston's 20-19 win over Cincinnati.
Analysis: The Bengals played well on the defense in the first half and were opportunistic on offense, jumping out to a significant lead, which forced the Texans to go the air more than run the ball. That's typically not the Texans' M.O., so we're viewing Foster's reduced usage as a one-week anomaly. He's still a must-start.

Foster carried 31 times for 111 yards and a touchdown in Houston's win over Atlanta in Week 13 on Sunday.
Analysis: As we suspected, the Texans relied heavily on the ground game in order to take the heat off rookie T.J. Yates at quarterback.
